World of Warcraft PvE Gearing Guide
Welcome to our comprehensive guide to gearing in World of Warcraft: Midnight. Once youÄve reached max level, there are a lot of options to gear up further. However, before you can engage with some of the hardest PvE content the game has to offer, you'll need to gear up. In this guide we list the different types of gear you can get and from which content they come from, so you can gear up as efficiently as possible.
Gearing in World of Warcraft has been a daunting task for a long time, with all activities you can do in the end-game. This guide will teach you more about gearing at max level in World of Warcraft.
Gear Upgrade Tracks
At max level, gear in World of Warcraft is separated by Gear Upgrade Track. Each piece of gear is assigned a different track, depending on where the piece was originally obtained from. That track determines how far you can go into upgrading your gear.
You can learn more about Gear Upgrade Tracks on our dedicated Gear Upgrading guide.
The Great Vault
One of the more important aspects of gearing in World of Warcraft is the Great Vault. The Great Vault system awards you once a week with a choice of a guaranteed piece of gear, depending on what activities you have done for that week.
Gear from the Great Vault is usually stronger than gear you can obtain from the content you're doing, so it is worth working towards your vault. Learn more about it on our dedicated guide.
Starter Gear at Max Level
Once you reach max level, you will not be able to immediately jump into the most challenging content. You will need to spend some time gearing up and making your character stronger.
Starting at max level, gear will come from a variety of sources that can be done mostly solo, which includes engaging in World Activities, early Delve tiers, early Prey Hunt tiers, and starting Heroic Dungeons.
The following activities give Adventurer level gear (ilvl220 to 237):
- World Quests in Quel'Thalas.
- Rare mobs in Quel'Thalas.
- Heroic Dungeons.
- End of Run Caches in Delves.
- Normal Mode Prey Hunts (twice a week).
- Crafting gear and empowering it with 80
Adventurer Dawncrest.
The following activities give Veteran level gear (ilvl233 to 250):
- Weekly activity Pinnacle caches.
- Using
Restored Coffer Key in Bountiful Delves on tier 5-6 Delves. - Hard Mode Prey Hunts (twice a week).
- Raids in the Raid Finder (once per week per boss).
- Crafting gear and empowering it with 80
Veteran Dawncrest.
Progressing Through Max Level Gearing
At this point, you will have progressed a bit throughout the endgame. There are still a few ways to get good gear while solo, but this is the point where you will dip your toes further into group content.
The following activities give Champion level gear (ilvl246 to 263):
- Certain weekly calendar activities like Delves.
- Using
Restored Coffer Key in Bountiful Delves on tier 7+ Delves. - Using
Trovehunter's Bounty to obtain the Hidden Trove in Delves, up to Tier 7. - Nightmare Mode Prey Hunts (twice a week).
- Mythic difficulty dungeons (once per boss per day).
- Mythic Keystone dungeons up to +6 (once per dungeon).
- Renown milesone quests (once per Renown per character).
- Raids in Normal Difficulty (once per week per boss).
- Crafting gear that uses Sparks such as
Spark of Radiance.
The following activities give Hero level gear (ilvl259 to 276):
- Using
Trovehunter's Bounty to obtain the Hidden Trove in Delves, up to Tier 7. - Mythic Keystone dungeons, on +7 or higher keys.
- Raids in Heroic Difficulty (once per week per boss).
- Crafting gear that uses Sparks such as
Spark of Radiance, and empowering it with 80
Hero Dawncrest.
End Game Gearing
This is the pinnacle of gearing in a season of World of Warcraft. Myth-level gear is the highest level of tier. Here's a list of activites that give Myth level gear (ilvl272 to 289):
- Raids in Mythic Difficulty (once per week per boss).
- From the Great Vault Dungeon category, completing Mythic +10 keys or higher (once a week).
- Crafting gear that uses Sparks such as
Spark of Radiance, and empowering it with 80
Myth Dawncrest.
