Alchemy Guide for Midnight

Last updated on Mar 30, 2026 at 20:26 by Seksixeny 10 comments

This page covers the most important aspects of Alchemy in Midnight, including talent builds and suggestions on how to make gold with the profession.

1.

Alchemy in Midnight

As has been the case since the start of World of Warcraft, Alchemy will be responsible for creating most of the consumables used in the end game, as well as some rare materials, through transmuting. Thaumaturgy and its ability to convert between basic materials is gone, making transmutation the sole focus of the new Transmutation Authority talent tree.

Besides short-duration combat potions, such as Light's Potential Icon Light's Potential, Alchemists can also make long-duration combat Flasks, such as Flask of the Shattered Sun Icon Flask of the Shattered Sun, profession Phials, such as Haranir Phial of Finesse Icon Haranir Phial of Finesse, and transmute many items, such as the new key item for crafting Cauldrons and House Decor items, Wondrous Synergist Icon Wondrous Synergist.

Alchemy is also one of the few professions that provide combat bonuses, in the form of double duration Flasks with just 15 profession knowledge points required in the Fluent in Flasks base tree node.

The Primal Philosopher's Stone Icon Primal Philosopher's Stone is a new bind on pickup starter crafted trinket option which can be created through Crafting Orders at a decent item level by using Adventurer or Veteran crests and Alchemists are still able to create the epic Magister's Alchemist Stone Icon Magister's Alchemist Stone with sparks as usual.

2.

Best Race for Alchemy in Midnight

Due to its personal benefits, Alchemy is an excellent choice for any character that cares about min-maxing its Raid and Mythic+ performance.

If you are a Horde player, Goblin will grant you +5 skill points, while Alliance players can be Kul'Tiran for +2 skill points but for the most part you will want to have it on whatever character(s) you play the most.

3.

Best Crafting Stats for Alchemy in Midnight

Alchemy can make great use of all four stats, but you might want to focus on specific stats for different playstyles. We go into detail with Alchemy stats and the gear you can use to boost them in the specialized guide below:

4.

Leveling Alchemy in Midnight

Increasing your skill is done by crafting items that grant skill points as usual, and in order to be efficient, we recommend trying to get as many first-craft bonuses while leveling as possible, which also grant experience if you are not at maximum level.

Remember to learn new recipes from the Alchemy Research cauldron in Silvermoon as you unlock their requirements (account wide), as they are likely to be more efficient for leveling than pure trainer recipes, especially once you hit the later skill levels.

In order to obtain Stabilized Derivate Icon Stabilized Derivate, which is a critical component for learning most recipes, for cauldrons, and for transmutes, you will have to Recycle any spare flasks or potions you have with you, destroying them in the process.

5.

How to Level Alchemy in Midnight

Skill 1-50 Skill 51 to 100
5.1.

Leveling Alchemy to 50 Skill

As with most professions, getting to skill 50 can easily be done through trainer recipes, with the remaining skill points being awarded by specialty crafts such as Light's Potential Icon Light's Potential, Flask of the Shattered Sun Icon Flask of the Shattered Sun, or Wondrous Synergist Icon Wondrous Synergist transmutes, which you should do based on your choice of profession talents.

In order to quickly level up, buy the following materials before starting:

  • 20 Mote of Light Icon Mote of Light
  • 215 Sunglass Vial Icon Sunglass Vial
  • 6 Oil of Heartwood Icon Oil of Heartwood
  • 244 Tranquility Bloom Icon Tranquility Bloom
  • 60 Argentleaf Icon Argentleaf
  • 60 Azeroot Icon Azeroot

With which you should craft:

  • 5 Silvermoon Health Potion Icon Silvermoon Health Potion
  • 4 Enlightenment Tonic Icon Enlightenment Tonic
  • 3 casts of recycle on your Enlightenment Tonic Icon Enlightenment Tonics
  • 14 Entropic Extract Icon Entropic Extract
  • 20 Light's Potential Icon Light's Potential

While you can craft Flasks or Wondrous Synergist Icon Wondrous Synergists for the final levels as well, Light's Potential Icon Light's Potential are the best option, as they are much cheaper to produce and do not rely on the transmute cooldown.

5.2.

Leveling Alchemy Past 50 Skill

Getting past Skill 50 will then vary heavily depending on which Profession talents you invest into with your Alchemy Knowledge. Since skill-ups are more RNG as you get closer to 100 Alchemy Skill, we recommend checking the Auction House or using one of our recommended crafting Addons to help you skill up without it eating into your wallet too much.

Thankfully the process isn't too difficult, as you can craft the same items all the way to 100, depending on your specialization. We recommend using the following recipes:

  • Potion Master:
    • Light's Potential Icon Light's Potential is your best option.
  • Flask Master:
    • Flask of the Shattered Sun Icon Flask of the Shattered Sun is the go-to choice, although prices of Flasks may shift this occasionally.
  • Transmutation Master:
    • Wondrous Synergist Icon Wondrous Synergist is required by many recipes, and can get you all the way to 100.
Prices May Change! Keep in mind that our recommendations are based off of prices and recipes that are somewhat stable and reliably to skill up with. There may be cheaper or more efficient ways to reach 100 Skill, depending on the market and economy, as well as your ability to fulfill crafting orders for other players that can still give you skillups. The above is recommended for ease of access, not because it is always the cheapest.
6.

Alchemy Knowledge in Midnight

You will be able to track all weekly and one-time sources of profession knowledge with Myu's Knowledge Points Tracker, which has been converted to an addon in Midnight!

There are also eight treasures around the world that you can loot to gain up to 24 extra knowledge. You can find them all easily in-game with the aforementioned addon.

7.

Best Alchemy Specializations and Talents in Midnight

If you are going into Alchemy for the personal benefits or for Flask crafting, unlock Fluent in Flasks, assign knowledge up to 15/30 and continue into Sin'dorei Specialist, where you should assign 10/30 in order to unlock Flask Abundance, which is the best node to allocate points for gold making purposes as they multiply the power of your Multicraft.

The rest of the points in this tree are also excellent for crafting maximum rank Flasks and Phials with Concentration, as they grant massive Ingenuity and reduce concentration usage.

After unlocking the personal benefits for Flasks or if you want to focus on Potions instead, unlock Potion Prowess, assign knowledge up to 10/30 and continue down quickly in order to unlock one of the Prolific Potioneer nodes, which are the Multicraft focused nodes of the potion tree, with the rest of the tree also being helpful for optimizing Concentration usage later.

The Transmutation Authority tree boosts the power of transmutations, which are mostly used for creating Wondrous Synergist Icon Wondrous Synergist, a core reagent in Cauldron and House Decor crafting, as well as the Magister's Alchemist Stone Icon Magister's Alchemist Stone craft. This special reagent is likely to be extremely valuable and points in this tree grant massive Multicraft and Ingenuity bonuses to crafting it.

It is also of note that the charge-based nature of transmuting synergizes perfectly with the need to wait for Concentration recharging when using base materials to create maximum rank Wondrous Synergist Icon Wondrous Synergists!

Finally, Alchemical Mastery is notable for providing skill increases that apply to every Alchemy craft, and also for its three nodes Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce which grant large Resourcefulness bonuses with flasks/phials, potions, and other craft types, respectively.

8.

Making Gold with Alchemy in Midnight

Ideally, Alchemy allows you to convert cheap materials into expensive Potions, Phials, Flasks, House Decor, and other reagents. You will initially have to use Concentration in order to get maximum Rank items, stopping you from mass producing them, but eventually with maxed gear, talents, and skill you will be able to produce natural maximum ranks, although doing so might not be profitable, depending on the price of the maximum rank materials used in the process.

Due to the commodity producing nature of Alchemy, it is very likely that the consumable market will quickly get loaded with potions that are only marginally more expensive than the materials used to create them, especially once mass maximum Ranks can be produced, so focusing on Concentration usage alongside base Rank materials on multiple alts is usually the most profitable way to play for casual goldmakers where margins are critical to success.

We have a specialized guide for Midnight gold-making below, which contains a gold-making tier list and goes deeper into techniques and habits for successful gold making, as well as websites and addons that can help you on your journey!
