General Information

Welcome to our Outlaw Rogue DPS guide for World of Warcraft BfA 8.0.1. Here, you will learn everything you need to know about playing a Outlaw Rogue in a raid environment and in Mythic+ dungeons.

1. Class Overview

Ahoy! Outlaw Rogue is a specialization that centers around managing resources while sustaining high damage to stacked targets. As in previous expansions, Outlaw is a fantastic jack of all trades that can comfortably handle any situation or fight type. Between the three Rogue specializations, Outlaw is the most effective in situations involving heavy cleave or AoE.

2. Patch 8.0.1 Changes for Outlaw Rogue

Overall, Outlaw has not received significant changes. The single target rotation remains effectively the same as before, with minor deviations depending on talents. The only change that is noticeable is that Blade Flurry Icon Blade Flurry cannot be kept up 100% of the time, and as such, on prolonged AoE fights, you will need to work on timing it well, to line it up with your other cooldowns or maximum number of targets, to min-max damage. However, on short-term burst AoE , especially if it is infrequent, that still might not be too noticeable; due to having multiple charges, you can chain back to back.

  • Blade Flurry Icon Blade Flurry is no longer a toggle, and cannot be maintained permanently.
  • Feint Icon Feint has a cooldown, and cannot be maintained permanently.
  • Grappling Hook Icon Grappling Hook is now baseline.

3. Outlaw Rogue Strengths

  • Strong cleave and AoE
  • Very versatile
  • Exceptional defensive utility

4. Outlaw Rogue Weaknesses

  • Variance in damage output
  • Weak in spread AoE — targets can be quickly switched to, but not in cleave range
  • Resource/cooldown-reliant
  • Average single target damage

5. Outlaw Rogue Viability in the Current Patch

Outlaw is currently an average specialization in Antorus, the Burning Throne. While Outlaw does fall behind Assassination overall, this specialization can offer potent damage on certain encounters, especially those in which the strong cooldowns and cleave can be taken advantage of.
