In Season 2 of Midnight, Blizzard bring back the Voidforge introduced in Season 1 - This system will allow players to receive additional gear, and power up some of the gear they already have!
What is the Voidforge?
The Voidforge is something we worked on with Decimus to build in the Voidstorm during Season 1 of Midnight. This system allows players to do two things: acquire bonus rolls each week to use when engaging in PvE endgame content, which in turn lets you gain additional gear. The other benefit is the ability to upgrade your weapons, trinkets, and necklaces to higher item levels.
In Season 2 of Midnight this system is carried over with minor changes. Most importantly, Orin Straylight has become a steward of the Voidforge and it is now located within Silvermoon City next to The Catalyst, at 40.00, 64.50.
How to Unlock the Voidforge
In season 2 of Midnight, unlocking the Voidforge is easier than ever. To start, ensure you pick up the quest In the Catalyst's Shadow from Decimus in the Voidstorm, at 51.20, 68.50. This quest will guide you back to Silvermoon where you will help Orin collect Voidcore Shards, unlocking the Voidforge. Once unlocked you will be able to use it on every character on your account.
Nebulous Voidcores: The Bonus Rolls of Midnight Season 2
Each week, you can purchase one
Nebulous Voidcore
to roll for bonus items from endgame content. These Voidcores can be
purchased with gold,
Veteran Mistcrests, or
Voidlight Marl. Additionally, if you complete 3 slots
within your weekly Great Vault, you can take
one additional Voidcore.
Voidcores can be used to get an Item equal to the reward it would provide from the weekly Great Vault. Each form of content will give an opportunity to use a single Voidcore and get additional loot. The content you can use these Voidcores in are as follows:
- Raid Bosses
- Mythic+ Dungeons
- Bountiful Delves
- Nightmare Prey
After completing any of these activities, a loot roll window (pictured below) will appear in your UI. It indicates which loot is available from the roll, as well as how many Voidcores are required. An excellent addition to this feature is that once you are awarded an item from a bonus roll, it is removed from the loot table for all future rolls of that difficulty. Over time, this will guarantee the item you are chasing!
For all endgame content rolls using Nebulous Voidcores, items will match the gear quality found in the Great Vault for completing that activity. For example, using a Voidcore in a Mythic+10 or higher dungeon will award a Myth track item 1/6 quality. Or using one on Ula'Tek on Herioc DIfficulty will award a Myth track item 1/6 quality as well.
Important to note: All Nebulous Voidcores have catch-up available for any character. So any brand new level 90 can purchase every Voidcore that has been available each week through this system. This is amazing catch-up for gear on alts or if you are just starting late into this season.
Ascendant Venomstones: Further Increasing Item Level in Midnight Season 2
Ascendant Voidcores will be making a return in the form of
Ascendant Venomstones. Launching with Patch 12.1.5, these items will
drop from a variety of different sources:
- Heroic or Mythic difficulty raid bosses
- Mythic+10 and above keystone dungeons
- Tier 11 Bountiful Delves
- Nightmare Prey Champion chests
Ten of these items will be required to upgrade a single piece of gear, and when used it will increase the item level of fully upgraded Hero or Myth track weapon, trinket, and necklace from Midnight Season 2. These Venomstones can also be applied to crafted items in those slots to further enhance their power.
