Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Havoc Demon Hunter in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats, followed by advice on how to choose the rest of your gear and your trinkets.
Stat Priority for Devourer Demon Hunter in PvP
The stat priority for Devourer Demon Hunter in PvP is as follows:
Agility is the best stat in all situations. Mastery (
Mastery: Monster Within)
is the strongest secondary stat for damage and mobility, due to it increasing your Chaos damage.
You should also try to focus on getting as much Versatility as possible. This will reduce
the damage you take while increasing your overall damage (at a lower rate then Mastery).
Gear Recommendations
You want to use PvP items as much as possible since they have increased item level in PvP combat. It is essential to be wearing 2 PvP trinkets. This will give you a Stamina and stat boost that will increase your survivability.
FAQWhich Tier Pieces Are Best To Catalyze?
With the new Catalyst system in 12.1, you will want to ensure to Catalyze pieces that have Versatility on them, and ideally Mastery as well. The recommended items are as follow:
- Chest:
Venomous Gladiator's Leather Jerkin with Versatility & Mastery - Shoulders:
Venomous Gladiator's Leather Shoulderpads with Versatility & Mastery - Hands:
Venomous Gladiator's Leather Gloves with Versatility & Mastery - Legs:

Overall Best in Slot
Shirt
Tabard

As Annihilator, you can opt for Haste and Mastery in every slot with low versaility and Voidscarred can pick up Mastery Crit in every slot. Devourer is extremely mobile and hard to kill which means you can play riskier with low versatility. This will significantly increase your one shot potential at the risk of being more susceptible to dying.
Devourer Demon Hunter Tier Sets
As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed to 50% effectiveness in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances to win. For Devourer Demon Hunters, this is your tier set:
- 2-set: Harvesting 4 or more Soul Fragments with Reap has a 20% chance to cause your next Consume to be instant cast and explode in a Soulburst.
- 4-set: Soulburst generates 8 Soul Fragments and grants Moment of Craving. Reap deals 20% increased damage.
In general, it is recommended to get both 2-set and 4-set for Devourer Demon Hunters
Devourer Demon Hunter Embellishments
Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These effects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have two Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Devourer Demon Hunter:
Arcanoweave Lining is the best embellishment for Devourer
