Choosing the right PvP and PvE talents is a prerequisite to proper performance in PvP. This guide goes through the various talent choices available to you as a Devourer Demon Hunter and gives you the best combinations you can take.
This page is part of our Devourer Demon Hunter PvP Guide.
Talent Choices for Devourer Demon Hunters
This build is built around
Reap,
Hungering Slash,
and
The Hunt. As of now,
Collapsing Star is NOT
viable due to numerous bugged interactions.
Talents Summary
While the above table provides a generally accurate overview of the viability of talents, some finer points are discussed in the sections that follow, and we recommend you read those for a deeper understanding.
Demon Hunter Talent Tree Highlights
Some important spells to note in the Demon Hunter talent tree:
Demonic Resilience was added in Midnight and now grants an additional
charge of Blur.
Void Nova works similarly to
Chaos Nova but it can
be used on any target within 30 yards and stunning all targets near them.
Sigil of Misery allows you to place on the ground and will fear
all enemies inside of it after 1 second. This is a great follow-up after a stun
or
Imprison is on the enemy healer.
Devourer Demon Hunter Talent Tree Highlights
Some important spells to note in the Devourer Demon Hunter Talent tree:
Hungering Slash is procced after you use
Voidblade
or
The Hunt.
Void Metamorphosis is a passive that can only be activated
once you have collected 50 souls or 35 souls with
Soul Glutton.
The Hunt is part of the spec tree. The Hunt is important
as it is the only way you can activate
Hungering Slash outside
of Voidblade.
PvP Talents for Devourer Demon Hunters
Mandatory PvP Talents
Glimpse makes you immune to crowd control and reduces the
damage you take until you land when casting
Vengeful Retreat. This
is a great way to avoid incoming damage when you are the primary focus for
the enemy team.
Beckon causes
Reap to make your next
Consume
instant cast while also generating an additional soul.
Situational PvP Talents
Armor of Souls technically gives you some additional armor, but
with how much magic damage exists in the game, that part of the talent ends
up having fairly limited value. What actually makes this talent so strong is
the 12% chance it has to trigger every time you take damage.
Detainment increases the duration of your
Imprison,
and that target is immune to damage and healing while it is active. This is
great for crowd control on the enemy healer but also be used to peel.
You can use
Imprison on the enemy's cooldowns to stop the go.
Inevitable End should only be taken if you talent into Collapsing Star.
While Collapsing Star is generally not recommended, this talent makes it uninterruptible
and increases its damage, making it the better choice over
Beckon.
