Garrison: Scribe's Quarters Guide (WoD 6.2)
Table of Contents
The Scribe's Quarters is a Small Garrison building that Scribes and Non-Scribes can use to craft Draenor-specific Inscription recipes.
While we explain, in this article, how to unlock all levels of the Scribe's Quarters, you may be interested in our guide to unlocking all the Garrison buildings. We also have a guide to leveling Inscription in Draenor.
Main Perks
For Scribes, the main perk of the Scribe's Quarters is that it allows you to
create a maximum of 12x War Paints per day, in addition to the
10x
you can already craft with
War Paints (less with an
Inscription skill lower than 700). These extra
Paints are really useful, because they allow you to craft more
Draenor recipes, which means you make more money off the Auction
House and you level up Inscription to 700 faster. The Scribe's Quarters is also
where you buy your Draenor-specific Inscription recipes.
For Non-Scribes, the main perks of the Scribe's Quarters is that you can mill herbs and that the resident Scribe can craft most of the Draenor-specific Inscription recipes for you.

Unlocking the Scribe's Quarters
In this section, we are going to tell you how to unlock the Scribe's Quarters, Level 1, 2, and 3.
Unlocking the Scribe's Quarters, Level 1
The Scribe's Quarters Level 1 is unlocked when you upgrade your Town Hall to Level 2.
Scribes
can build this building with a Town Hall Level 1, because they have
a chance to loot
Mysterious Satchel (Alliance) and
Illegible Sootstained Notes (Horde).
This item drops from humanoid mobs around Draenor and starts a quest line that eventually rewards
the plan to build the Scribe's Quarters,
Garrison Blueprint: Scribe's Quarters, Level 1, and
Draenor Inscription,
which teaches basic Draenor recipes that can be used to level up the profession.
If you are
a Scribe
and the quest item does not drop for you, then you can buy
your
Draenor Inscription
for 100
from the
Scribe
at your Scribe's Quarters, after upgrading your Town Hall to Level 2.
Unlocking the Scribe's Quarters, Level 2
Garrison Blueprint: Scribe's Quarters, Level 2 is sold by the blueprint vendor at your Garrison once
you reach level
96
or once you complete your
Talador
Outpost. You can buy it with
750
. You can also buy it from the blueprint
vendor in Ashran without restrictions with
an
Outpost Building Assembly Notes, which
can only be obtained twice, once when questing
in Gorgrond and once when questing in the Spires of Arak.
so the purpose of this
Below, you will find the Alliance and Horde
vendors.

Unlocking the Scribe's Quarters, Level 3
Garrison Blueprint: Scribe's Quarters, Level 3 is a reward from
completing the
Working More Orders achievement, which requires
you to complete 250 Work Orders at your Garrison. This achievement
is account-wide.
Once you complete the achievement, the blueprint is not
directly handed over to you. You still need to buy it from
Sparz Boltwist (Alliance) or Rezlak (Horde)
for 1,000 .
Work Orders
Work Orders are unlocked with your Scribe's Quarters Level 1 and allow
you to create War Paints. A Work Order takes 4 hours
to complete and transforms 2x
Cerulean Pigments into 1x
War Paints (2x with a level 100 follower assigned
to the Scribe's Quarters). This means that you can complete a maximum of 6 Work
Orders per day for a total yield of 6 to 12 War Paints.
Unlocking Work Orders
When you first build the Scribe's Quarters on a character, the resident
Scribe at the building gives you Your First Inscription Work Order. To
complete it, talk to the Scribe's Assistant and give the
required 2x Cerulean Pigments. The small box outside the Scribe's Quarters
should activate immediately and you can loot the
Inscription Work Order
that you need to turn in to complete the quest. Doing so rewards you
with 5x
War Paints.
Increasing Yield
After upgrading the Scribe's Quarters to Level 2, you can assign a follower
with the Inscription trait to work at the Scribe's Quarters.
The higher the level of your follower, the higher the chance that the Work
Order will generate 2 War Paints instead of
only 1. With a level 100 follower, you are guaranteed to get 2 War Paints.
While working at the Scribe's Quarters, your follower receives experience for every Work Order completed.
Increasing Queue Size
You can queue up to a certain number of Work Orders, depending on your Scribe's Quarters' level (7 at Level 1, 14 at Level 2, 21 at Level 3).
Having a Storehouse Level 3 increases the maximum number of Work Orders by 15, which means a maximum of 22 Work Orders at Level 1, 29 at Level 2, and 36 at Level 3.
Being able to queue more Work Orders does not increase your yield, but it does allow you to let more time pass before you have to go back to the Scribe's Quarters to refill your queue of Work Orders.
Cost Comparison Between Work Orders and Inscription Recipe
War Paints costs 10x
Cerulean Pigments and
produces between 4 and 10
War Paints, depending on your Inscription skill.
Below level 600, you only produce 4. Between level 600 and 700
the yield slowly increases to reach 10 at level 700.
Work Orders cost 2x Cerulean Pigments and produce between
1 and 2
War Paints. With no follower or a level 90
follower, you produce only 1. The closer your follower is to 100, the
higher the chance that the yield will be 2. With a follower level 100, you
always produce 2.
If you have enough Cerulean Pigments, then you should keep the
Work Orders queue full and use
War Paints every day.
If you do not, then you need to give priority to the method that
will create the most War Paints. The idea is that if your follower's level
is closer to 100 (from 90) than your Inscription skill is to 700 (from 600),
then you should prioritise Work Orders. For example, if your follower's level
is 95 and your Inscription skill is 640, go for Work Orders first. If your
follower's level is 94 and your Inscription skill is 650, go for
War Paints first.
Resident Scribe
The Scribe at the Scribe's Quarters interacts with you in one of two ways, depending on whether or not you have the Inscription profession.
For Scribes
Buying the Draenor Inscription recipes from the Scribe in your
Scribe's Quarters is the only way to obtain them. Each recipe costs
a number of Secrets of Draenor Inscription. You can make
one of these items every day using the
Secrets of Draenor Inscription
Inscription recipe, which costs 2x
Cerulean Pigments. The table below
lists all of the recipes you can buy and the amount of Secrets of Draenor
Inscription it costs to buy them.

For Non-Scribes
For Non-Scribes, the Scribe in your Scribe's Quarters can craft
most of the high-end Draenor Inscription recipes, except for
Crystals (re-roll stats), item upgrades, Warbinder's Ink
(used to research new glyph recipes), Glyph recipes, and
War Paints
(which can be obtained only through Work Orders). Crafting an item
through your Scribe costs exactly the same quantity of materials
it does when a regular Scribe crafts it. Some of the recipes are locked
until you reach a certain level with the Scribe's Quarters (see table below).
