FAQWhat is the Recommended Item Level for Nullaeus?
Setting Up Valeera
To make the most out of your companion during the fight, we recommend Valeera set up as a healer, to have access to her dispel and for the extra healing, as Nullaeus's melee hurts. If you have a reliable dispel and self healing, you can use Valeera as a DPS for the extra kick.
We recommend the following Valeera curios for Nullaeus:
Porcelain Blade Tip as the Combat Curio.
Overflowing Voidspire as the Utility Curio.
Do not forget to download Deadly Boss Mods to be prepared for each of Nullaeus's casts and abilities.
Nullaeus Strategy
On Tier ?, Nullaeus has a series of abilities, with a fight that mostly repeats through three intermission phases. We have a quick kill video of Nullaeus on ? difficulty below:
Throughout all phases, Nullaeus has access to the following abilities:
Emptiness of the Void: Inflicts lethal Shadow damage to all enemies within his room.
This ability must be interrupted at all times.
Devouring Essence: Nullaeus afflicts a player with the essence of the void,
inflicting Shadow damage every 2 sec for 18 sec. This cast is interruptible but as it also leaves a
DoT, it is easier to dispel it (or leave Valeera to do the dispeling).
Imploding Strike is used against Tank specializations only, and deals a
massive amount of Physical damage. It is recommended to always have a defensive cooldown prepared
for it.
Nullaeus will always use his abilities in the following order: Devouring Essence > Emptiness of the Void > Imploding Strike (tank only), until he reaches an intermission phase.
At 75%, 50% and 25%, Nullaeus will become invulnerable, via
Dread Portal, activating one of the three Void Orbs around his room, summoning adds,
and gaining access to a new ability. Each intermission ends after 30 seconds or when all adds
summoned by Nullaeus are dead, whichever happens first. Your priority should be killing all adds
before Nullaeus resurfaces.
75% Intermission
- Nullaeus summons two Razorshell Ravager, which have access to two abilities: A gap
closer that deals damage via
Spiny Leap, and a bleed via
Jagged Rip. - Nullaeus himself gains access to
Null Zone, which covers a third of the arena at a time
with void that deals damage if stepped on.
50% Intermission
- Nullaeus summons seven Razorshell Ravager, which leave a stacking DoT if they get to
your melee range via
Poisonous Spit. They have low health and are quickly nuked down. - Nullaeus himself gains access to
Gravity Well, which spawns a gravity orb that
floats around the room. This well pulls you in if you get close, and deals heavy Shadow damage if
you're close to the iris. You can outrange it, and we suggest staying on the polar opposite direction
in the room (of course, keeping Null Zones in mind).
25% Intermission
- Nullaeus summons one Enslaved Voidcaster, which has two abilities: A Shadow Bolt that
can be interrupted (or ignored as it doesn't deal much damage and you don't want to risk not having
your interrupt up for
Emptiness of the Void), and a
Shadow Crash that deals
heavy Shadow damage to the target area - Just sidestep away from it. - Nullaeus himself gains access to
Umbral Rage, a 10% damage increase that stacks.
This is a soft enrage and this is where you must save any cooldowns left to kill Nullaeus before he
becomes too overwhelming.
Tier ?? Changes
The fight is the exact same on Tier ?? difficulty, besides Nullaeus and his adds dealing significantly more damage and having more health. With the higher health pools, you will likely have to deal with both Nullaeus and his adds together, so prepare for that accordingly.
