Valeera's Ultimate Companion Guide to Delves in Midnight
Introduction
Valeera Sanguinar is your Delve companion in the Midnight expansion. She will automatically join your run when you are alone or in a group of up to 4 players. However, she will not join when you have a full party. Your companion grows in power and gains Experience as you clear more delves. You can set him up as a healer, tank or DPS.
Companion Role
When you interact with the Explorers' League Supplies at the beginning of each, delve, at any checkpoint, or bring up the Delves tab by pressing "H", you can set Valeera's role to Damage Dealer, Healer, or Tank. Valeera gains access to a different set of abilities in each role.
Abilities for All Roles
Valeera has access to the following abilities regardless of what role you choose her to be in:
Stealth: Valeera conceals herself in shadow, making her undetectable by most
enemies.
Rupture: Valeera punctures an organ of an enemy, inflicting significant Physical
damage over 24 sec.
Masterful Feint: Valeera performs evasive maneuvers, significantly reducing damage taken
from area-of-effect attacks.
Fan of Knives: Valeera unleashes a volley of knives, inflicting moderate Physical
damage to all enemies near her.
Blood Contract: Valeera marks a random enemy for death for 1 min. Killing that enemy
rewards Valeera and her allies with Paid in Blood, increasing the Primary stats of Valeera and all
her allies for 20 sec.
Tools of the Trade: Valeera uses her gathering tools to help players find
additional gold, ore, herbs, fish, leathers, and treasures.
Killing Spree: Valeera moves rapidly through the shadows, slashing at enemies for
significant Physical damage.
Damage Dealer Role
The Damage Dealer role focuses primarily on dealing damage. It is Valeera's DPS specialization.
In the DPS role, Valeera will gain access to the following abilities:
Unrelenting: Valeera hones her determination, recharging Fan of Knives, Rupture, and
Killing Spree 30% faster.
Dagger to the Throat: Valeera throws a dagger at an enemy, interrupting enemy spellcasting
and silencing them for 5 sec. 12 second cooldown.
Poison of the Forgotten Master: Valeera coats her and her allies' weapons with an ancient
poison that grows in potency over time, increasing all damage done by 5%, stacking every 3 sec while
in combat up to 5 stacks. All stacks are removed if the wielder of the poisoned weapon takes damage.
Cheap Shot: Valeera unleashes an unexpected attack to a vulnerable spot,
inflicting moderate Physical damage and Stunning the target for 10 sec. 40 second cooldown.
Jagged Caltrops: Valeera shatters a vial of poison on the ground creating a cloud of
poison, inflicting moderate Nature damage every 1 sec to enemies in the area. 30 second cooldown.
No Witnesses: Valeera inspires a flurry of attacks from allies, increasing Haste by 20%
for 15 sec. Killing an enemy refreshes the cooldown of No Witnesses. 1 minute cooldown.
Assassinate: Valeera will finish off wounded targets, executing enemies that
have less than 30% health. The health threshold for this effect is reduced to 5% for boss creatures.
Uncrowned's Bloody Ledger: Valeera's combat mastery grants her 5% increased damage done by
her spells and abilities. The rank of this effect is increased further with each companion level.
Healer Role
The Healer role focuses primarily on healing, but Valeera still deals some damage. However, the output is not as high as in her Combat DPS role.
Valeera gains access to the following abilities when in the Healing role:
Vampiric Reaping: Valeera stabs an enemy and rips away some of its life force, inflicting
Physical damage, creating Reaped Orbs and heals the player with the lowest health. Collecting these
Orbs heals the player.
Shadow Veil: Valeera covers an ally in shadow, dispelling harmful magical auras.
8 second cooldown.
Soulthirst Venom: Valeera applies wicked poison to her and her allies' weapons,
increasing Leech, Avoidance, and Speed by 10%.
Cheap Shot: Valeera unleashes an unexpected attack to a vulnerable spot,
inflicting moderate Physical damage and Stunning the target for 10 sec. 40 second cooldown.
Pain Killer: Valeera uses dark alchemy to block an ally's pain, absorbing damage for
30 sec. 20 second cooldown.
Cloak of Darkness: Valeera covers an area in darkness, reducing all damage taken
by allies in the area by 20% and making them immune to loss of control effects. 1 minute cooldown.
Uncrowned's Alchemical Codex: Valeera's mastery of alchemy grants her 5% increased healing
done by her spells and abilities. The rank of this effect is increased with each companion level.
Tank Role
The tank role focuses primarily on charging into the front lines, preventing damage taken to the players. Valeera still deals some damage, but the output is not as high as in her DPS role.
While Valeera is set up as Tank, she gains access to the following abilities:
Scar of Kathra'natir: Valeera uses dark alchemy to harness the remnants of the Curse of
Kathra'natir, causing attacks against her to inflict 20% less damage. Damage reduced in this way is
converted to damage taken over 10 sec and will occasionally create a manifestion Valeera's Agony.
Every 25% of damage taken by Valeera's Agony heals Valeera 8% of her max health.
Dagger to the Throat: Valeera throws a dagger at an enemy, interrupting enemy spellcasting
and silencing them for 5 sec. 12 second cooldown.
Bloodcrypt Toxin: Valeera applies a debilitating poison to her and her allies' weapons.
Enemies struck by these poisoned weapons have their damage reduced by 10% and their Haste reduced by
10% for 20 sec.
Your First Mistake: Valeera makes an enemy that ignores her pay, taunting the enemy and
inflicting high Physical damage every 2 sec for 16 sec. 15 second cooldown.
Poison Cloud: Valeera shatters a vial of poison on the ground creating a cloud of
poison, inflicting moderate Nature damage every 1 sec to enemies in the area. 30 second cooldown.
Attack from the Shadows: Valeera steps through shadows, unleashing a Fan of Knives and
taunting all enemies within 12 yds. 20 second cooldown.
Blood-Stained Blades: Valeera harness effective healing upon her to empower her blades,
increasing the damage she inflicts by 8% for 8 sec. This effect stacks.
Uncrowned's Playbook of Subterfuge: Valeera's combat mastery grants her 2% increased
maximum health and 2% increased healing received. The rank of this effect is increased with each
companion level.
Delve Curios
Curios are special items looted from chests at the end of a delve run. They further improve Valeera's combat capabilities.
Curios have four ranks, and you can improve the rank of a curio by looting the same curio of a higher rank at higher tiers.

The following Combat Curios are available in Season 1 of Midnight:

Improving Valeera's DPS/Healing in Delves
When doing Delves, maximizing Valeera's DPS is essential to efficiently killing enemies. Below are some steps to help you improve Valeera's effectiveness in combat.
Step 1: Increase Valeera's Power with Higher Item Levels
Valeera's strength scales directly with your item level. Therefore, try bringing your average Item level higher to directly increase her DPS.
Step 2: Master Potion Staggering
Orbs from
Vampiric Reaping leave you with a stackable HOT in addition to its instant
healing, so it is recommended to stagger how often you get Vampiric Reaping Orbs. Position yourself
so you pick up another one at 1-2 seconds before your HOT expires.
If you do this effectively enough, you will be able to carry over Vampiric Reaping stacks on Valeera's next cast of the ability, allowing you to keep the healing over time going.
How to Effectively Deal with Unconscious Tank Valeera
If Valeera’s health drops to 0 in her Tank Role, she will become Unconscious, taking 50% reduced healing. It is crucial to bring her back quickly. On higher difficulties, reviving her can be challenging. When he becomes Unconscious, turn around and head back immediately. Valeera will eventually respawn nearby, giving you a brief window to revive her before enemy mobs close in.
