The Azure Span Dragonriding Races (10.0.2)

The Azure Span has 6 races; below we will detail some tips and tricks for each race along with a video showing each race completed on both Normal and Advanced difficulties with a gold timer.

• Pay attention to the Elemental Orbs. For the most part you can fly around them, however if you need to fly through them be sure to use Surge Forward to avoid being slowed with Ohn'ahra's Gusts.
• Advanced Only: Make use of the wind boost after the second checkpoint to save some Vigor.
• Advanced Only:Before the race begins you can Bronze Timelock at the opposite end of the platform and use it as you hit the penultimate checkpoint to avoid needing to turn to the final checkpoint.

• The start of the race has many sharp turns, try to not use Surge Forward too much as you may have an unwanted detour.
• Advanced Only: The elemental orbs are easily avoided. The second elemental you encounter will have a Vigor node in the path but it is not necessary to go for this as you will have more than enough Vigor.

• Start the race with Skyward Ascent to grab the Wind Boost. This will help you save Vigor and put you in Thrill of the Skies faster.
• Around 20 seconds into the race there is a checkpoint where you cannot clearly see where the next one is. You can see a very small portion of the line going to the left. Go around this tree and be careful not to hit it!
• As you are making your ascent out of the forest be mindful of the rocks near the trees. If you touch one of these your drake will land.
• Advanced Only: The checkpoints are much closer to the ground for the most part. Aim for the upper half of the ring.
• Advanced Only: Many of the Vigor nodes are not on the direct path to the next checkpoint. Aim for each of these instead of the next checkpoint. as you need all of them for a gold time.
• Advanced Only: You can place your Bronze Timelock where you start the race and use it as you hit the penultimate checkpoint to avoid needing to turn to the final checkpoint.

• Touch the very first checkpoint at the top of the ring to not lose as much height.
• Ignore the Wind Boost at the end of the race as it is not on the path you need to take to reach the final checkpoints.
• Be a little bit conservative with your Vigor usage at the start of the race as there are no Wind Boosts.
• Advanced Only: The elemental orbs can easily be dodged by flying around them.

• Avoid using Surge Forward when you are approaching Wind Boosts as you will need to conserve Vigor for the middle of this race.
• As you return to the sea area there are you will need to fly under some cliff edges. Be mindful of the stalactites as if you hit them your momentum will be lost.
• Advanced Only: This is quite a difficult course on Advanced. There are periods where you will have no Vigor and you need to be conservative with your usage once you reach the statue.
• Advanced Only: There are many tight gaps you will need to fly through if in doubt avoid using Surge Forward until you are more comfortable.
• Advanced Only: Place your Bronze Timelock before you start the race and use it when you hit the penultimate checkpoint to save 1-2 seconds.

• There are lots of sharp turns in this race. Use the Wind Boosts where possible and try to save some Vigor to Surge Forward on long straight sections.
• This race goes through a lot of trees making seeing the next ring quite difficult. Pay attention to the arrow going from your current checkpoint to the next one to know where to fly to next.
• Advanced Only: Your goal on this race is to try to hit the checkpoints near the top of the ring for the first half of the course as you will not have enough Vigor to constantly use Surge Forward. By maintaining a downward trajectory you will maintain Thrill of the Skies.
