The Forked Tower: Magic Special Dungeon Guide
The Forked Tower: Magic, also known as 'FTM', is a special dungeon that can be taken on and completed by any number of players within an instance of Occult Crescent: The North Horn. The duty can be cleared solo, as the HP of enemies within the dungeon scales based on the number of players attempting it, though players in smaller parties will need to bring high-damage Phantom Jobs such as Phantom Samurai and Phantom Cannoneer in order to ensure that the dungeon does not take too long.
Entry Requirements
In order to unlock FTM, players must first attain Knowledge Level 40 and begin the quest In the Shadow of the Tower. They will then be able to enter the dungeon when it becomes available in an instance of the North Horn.
When the weather within the North Horn becomes Auroral Mirages, players should proceed to the Solitary Pavilion at (X: 15, Y: 30), which will be glowing faintly for five minutes, then glowing brightly for 30 seconds. Players must ensure they are standing on it at the end of this 30-second window in order to enter the tower.
The Auroral Mirages weather activates automatically five minutes after a new instance is created, and will always last for five minutes. Once a run of FTM has concluded and all players have left the Tower, a 60-minute timer will begin. This timer is reduced by five minutes for every completed Critical Encounter and by one minute for every completed FATE while this timer is active. Once it reaches zero, and a Critical Encounter is not currently active, the weather will activate again and players will be able to re-enter the Tower.
Preparation
Players should generally aim to form parties with at least one healer available in each party, and try to bring high-damage Phantom Jobs in order to clear as quickly as possible. Bosses within FTM reward no Phantom Job EXP, aside from the final boss that rewards 2,880 Phantom Job EXP, so players will want to swap to a Phantom Job that they are still levelling before pulling the final boss in order to benefit from this reward.
Additionally, at least one player that has mastered the Phantom Thief job must be in the group in order to allow all players to obtain all available rewards, as two reward coffers are invisible until revealed with Lost Perception and two are kept behind locked doors just before the final boss.
Upon entering the duty, players will see a Knowledge Crystal next to the entrance to the first boss, and will find their passive buffs wiped. As such, players will need to reapply these buffs at the start of the dungeon, and will have the chance to reapply them multiple times throughout the Tower if necessary.
Encounter Guides
In all FTM encounters, players hit by an avoidable attack or mechanic will receive a permanent Vulnerability Up debuff. As such, players intending to greed mechanics must be aware that doing so too often can lead to instant and unavoidable death due to unavoidable damage becoming too great to survive.
Additionally, the pathways between bosses contain multiple sets of adds. In some cases, only specific ones need to be killed, while in others, all adds will need to be killed.
Due to the number of encounters within this dungeon, they have all been split into separate pages accessible below for ease of reading and reference.
Rewards
Each coffer within FTM rewards Arcane Amulets, for a total of 14 throughout the entire dungeon. Each boss coffer also rewards players with the Occult Records for that boss, and the final coffer has a chance to drop the rare Duck-billed Porter Whistle, which can also be bought with Arcane Amulets at the Expedition Antiquarian vendor.
Completing FTM also rewards players with 800 Silver currency for The North Horn, 2,880 Phantom Job EXP for the job they cleared the dungeon on, 80 Allagan Tomestones of Mathematics, and 40 Allagan Tomestones of Mnemonics.
