Player Housing: Exterior Customization Guide

Last updated Yesterday at 08:30 by Gogogadgetkat 1 comment

Player housing is one of the key features of the Midnight expansion, bringing with it numerous ways for players to personalize their own private homes. Exterior housing customization may not be quite as detailed as the options for the interiors of your homes, but there are still a massive number of options to explore!

1.

Player Housing: Exterior Customization Introduction

With the arrival of player housing as a new feature in Midnight, the era of extreme personalization has begun! Unlike garrisons, which were extremely limited in layout and offered very little in terms of unique decor, housing brings infinite possibilities.

In this guide, we will break down everything we currently know about exterior customization, including structural, building, and decor options designed to personalize the outdoor facade of your home.

If you are looking for a guide about all the interior customization options, we've got you covered too!

2.

What is Exterior Customization?

If you have pre-purchased any version of Midnight, you will receive Early Access to housing with Patch 11.2.7 on December 2, 2025. Never fear if you have not yet purchased Midnight, however; you will still be able to collect decor for your home when Patch 11.2.7 drops, even if you cannot use it yet.

If you do not pre-purchase Midnight at all, you will have access to housing with the release of Midnight on March 2, 2026.

Exterior Customization Menus

No matter which faction you play, standing outside your home, selecting Edit House, and then choosing the final option, Edit House Exterior, will bring you into the Exterior Customization Menu interface. Much like choosing your appearance options at the Barber Shop, these different categories adjust the exterior style, color, and features of your home.

Be aware that some selections, like House Type and House Size, are not yet available, but will be accessible to players either later in 11.2.7, or with Midnight launch.

Exterior Kits

Aside from the Customization Menu options already available, players will also have access to four different themed exterior appearance "kits" at Midnight launch. The Orc and Blood Elf kits will only be applicable in the Horde Neighborhood, while the Human and Night Elf kits will only be applicable in the Alliance Neighborhood.

While we do not know precisely what these kits entail, thus far it seems that Blizzard is committed to adding in additional kits as the expansion progresses. If the wide variety of decor styles is anything to go by, we may be in for some very fun kit options down the road, but we may also be limited only to the "classic" Warcraft race aesthetics for our exterior housing themes.

7.

Decor Items

Each housing plot also comes with a substantial yard, and the massive decor catalog offers a myriad of options to allow players impressive flexibility in their landscaping and outdoor furnishing. There are some large structures, like gazebos, market stalls, and fountains, that may only be placed outside, but even most interior furniture and decor can go out in your yard to achieve the perfect entertaining space or dream garden.

Do not be afraid to play around with the Advanced Decor Controls in order to personalize your yard further!
