Decor items are a cornerstone of the Player Housing system, allowing players to collect key pieces, commemorate their biggest World of Warcraft achievements, and customize their spaces to their hearts' content!

Player Housing: Decor

In this guide, we will break down everything we currently know about decor items, Blizzard's key decor reward philosophies, where to find decor items, and the basics of the Decor Catalog.

2.

What are Decor Items?

After you've customized the basic exterior structure of your home, decor objects are all the extras; they are the tiny details that make your player house feel like a player home. Are you a goblin fan who loves whirling gadgets and flamethrowers? Are you more of a serene, Night Elf-style decorator? Are you all about minimalism? Decor items showcase who you are and how you like to express yourself in-game.

You'll find thematic decor from all manner of races, factions, and expansion storylines, including:

  • Blood Elves;
  • Kul Tirans;
  • Zandalari and Amani Trolls;
  • Draenei;
  • Earthen;
  • Wildhammer Dwarves;
  • Tauren;
  • Humans;
  • Forsaken;
  • Orcs;
  • Night Elves;
  • Class Halls;
  • Suramar;
  • Mechagon;
  • The Consortium;
  • Shadowlands Covenants;
  • Void-Touched;
  • and so, so much more...

The Decor Catalog

Everything player housing is centered on the Housing Dashboard (H); this is also where you'll find the Decor Catalog, the searchable database of all known decor items. When viewing an item in the Decor Catalog, you will see an item preview, alongside item source, cost, and available pieces in your Warband decor inventory. If applicable, the Catalog will also tell you whether an item can be dyed; look for a small palette icon.

Obtaining Decor

If you have pre-purchased any version of Midnight, you will receive Early Access to housing with Patch 11.2.7 on December 2, 2025. Never fear if you have not yet purchased Midnight, however; you will still be able to collect decor for your home when Patch 11.2.7 drops, even if you cannot use it yet.

In their April 2025 article on Housing Rewards, Blizzard detailed the core philosophies at work in their decor reward system:

  • This is a progressive journey. Obtaining any one piece of decor should be very possible, but completing the entire catalog should be extremely difficult.
  • Housing Rewards focus on core gameplay (with variations). Decor should come from all manner of different sources, from the most peaceful of rep grinds to every kind of PvP imaginable, and from professions to boss kills. Reward activities should appeal to everyone.
  • Your playtime should feel worthwhile; past playtime and old achievements mean you will not be starting from scratch when you buy your house, but instead your collection reflects the effort you previously put into the game.

Simply browsing the catalog reveals these principles in action. You will find decor available from all manner of different activities:

PvP

Professions

Quest Achievements

Raids

Old Reputations

As a note, remember that decor items are both Warbound and quantity-specific; that is, if you would like to fence both your Horde and Alliance yards with a Gilnean-style fence, you will need enough fence posts and fences for the entirety of both yards.

Placing Decor

From a towering replica Dark Portal to the smallest candle, almost every decor item in the game can be placed exactly as you see fit. Even the Basic Controls allow for relatively precise positioning with adjustments via mouse wheel, and you can turn grid-snapping on or off depending on your preference, as well as disabling collision if you prefer to decorate with a little more freedom.

The Advanced Controls are a decorator's dream. Adjust item scale, rotate 360 degrees for even more precision, and nudge each piece into place with a more delicate movement function. If you have been marvelling over the incredible Player Housing builds on YouTube and social media, you are witnessing the Advanced Controls at work!

Dyes are obtainable through the Auction House, or as a result of Inscription and Alchemy both; Scribes mill the pigment, while Alchemists create the Dyes themselves. Most items have several different zones that can be dyed, and the options look to be just as expansive as the rest of the decor system!

If you are looking for a more in-depth guide about all the interior customization options and how to use the placement tools, we've got you covered!

Obtaining your home is just the first step, but decor collecting and decorating is the true housing endgame. Happy decorating!
