Belo'ren Raid Guide in March on Quel'danas for Midnight Season 1
Belo'ren is the first boss encounter in the March on Qual'denas, a 2-boss raid that is part of the three raids available in Season 1 of Midnight.
On this page you will find a both a short and a full written guide for this encounter, with everything you need to know to take the boss on in Normal, Heroic, or Mythic difficulty.
Belo'ren Raid Guide
Mechanic Breakdown (Normal/Heroic)
Phase 1:
As you pull the boss (and at set points in the fight), Belo'ren will cast
Voidlight Convergence
which will assign players to either be Void (
Void Feather) or Light (
Light Feather).
The general rule for these is that you will soak mechanics which match your colour, as you
will take reduced damage from it.
Radiant Echoes Orbs:
Radiant Echoes will spawn a wall of Light and Void orbs that will travel across the room.- Coming into contact with an orb will destroy it and create a gap in the wall. As is the theme for many parts of the fight, a player with a matching colour should create the gap.
- If you match the colour, this will not deal too much damage as you have a 50% damage reduction against them.
Light Dive /
Void Dive (Soaks and then Adds):
Light Dive /
Void Dive will spawn on random players and must be soaked by
other players that match the same colour. After the dive occurs it will leave a Light/Void pool on the ground
which expands over time, as well as spawning a Light/Void Ember Add. An example of what the Dive looks like can be seen below.- Both adds have the same core abilities.
- They deal damage to players with
Light Blast
and
Void Blast, a raid-wide AoE that can only be interrupted by players who
match their colour with
Light Eruption /
Void Eruption. - When they are killed they turn into an egg and try to
Rebirth themselves.
Destroy the egg to properly kill the adds. - If the
Rebirth is successful they will deal a large amount of raid-wide damage and resurrect,
which typically leads to a wipe.
Voidlight Convergence (Colour Swaps):
- This ability will be cast throughout the fight . Once on pull, after each intermission, and after each full cycle of abilities.
- This will swap the colours of multiple players, so be careful to not soak any leftover orbs right as your colour may change.
- Tank Mechanics:
Guardian's Edict is the tank mechanic of the fight. This will be a combo
of
Light Edicts and
Void Edicts.- If any Edict frontals are not soaked or soaked by the wrong colour, the boss wil gain a stacking permanent 20% damage dealt bonus which will quickly lead to a raid-wipe.
Once you have brought the Phoenix form of Belo'ren to 0% HP it will turn into an egg and Phase 2 will begin.
Phase 2 (Egg Phase):
- At the start of this phase Belo'ren will cast
Death Drop, knocking every player
into the air, and then turn into an egg. - If you have a Warlock in your raid group, placing a
Demonic Gateway can
be very useful to negate the knock-up mechanic, as you can use the Gateway as soon as you get
knocked up. We would recommend placing the gateway from near the outer circle towards
the centre. - This is the phase where you are actually dealing damage to the boss, and bringing the egg to 0% HP will kill the boss.
- Save DPS cooldowns,
Bloodlust, and Potions for this part of the fight. - Throughout the phase the room will be covered in Light or Void. Stand in the area that matches your polarity/colour.
After 30 seconds, Phase 1 will begin again, but with a stack of
Ashen Benediction applied to the raid,
which increases all damage the raid will take from the boss's mechanics.
Heroic Changes:
- Phase 1:
Infused Quills will target random players and create a
Void Quill/
Light Quill
of the colour opposite to them. The quills need to be intercepted by a player that matches the
colour of the Quill, by standing between the Quill and the target.
Quick TLDR Guide
Phase 1:
- Handle mechanics which match your Light or Void polarity.
- Place
Light Dive /
Void Dive towards the outside of the circle
in the centre of the room. If you are not targeted, soak it. - Interrupt
Light Eruption /
Void Eruption from adds which match
your polarity (Void/Light). - Kill Ember Adds and then the egg that spawns afterwards as a priority.
Phase 2 (Egg Phase):
- Save DPS cooldowns,
Bloodlust, and Potions for this part of the fight. - Stand in areas which match your polarity.
