On this page, you will find out the best talents for each tier for your Elemental Shaman in World of Warcraft — Midnight Season 1. We also have default talent lists for various types of content, such as raiding or Mythic+. If you play with Warmode on, we have your PvP talents covered as well.

If you were looking for TBC Classic content, please refer to our TBC Classic Elemental Shaman Builds and Talents.

1.

Best Midnight Talents for Elemental Shaman

Remember that talents can now be freely modified wherever you are, with no need for a tome, codex, or a rest area.

If you are looking for information about Elemental Shaman Hero Talents, you can find it on our page dedicated to listing every ability available:

Optimizing talents on a contextual basis is the highly recommended method of setting up your build.

FAQShould I play the Fire or Lightning Build ?
All Elemental builds now mix Elements, although it is still possible to ignore fire abilities in some builds in AoE.

Best Talents for Elemental Shaman

Stormbringer
Raid Build
Stormbringer
Mythic+ Build
Farseer
Mythic+ Alternative
Farseer
High Mobility, Easier Raid Build
Farseer
Delve Build
3.

This Stormbringer build offers significantly more single-target and sustained AoE damage than Farseer, however it is less mobile, and requires more thought to play optimally.

It is much more damage to play Elemental Blast Icon Elemental Blast but the mobility loss is significant. You should use it if you can but if you are having more success and fun with Earth Shock Icon Earth Shock, it is "only" a ~5% loss at most.

Be sure to make use of the 'Export Talents' button to import the best build directly into your game!

4.

This is our recommended for Mythic+. Stormbringer offers significantly more AoE than Farseer, though it has less single-target, is less mobile, and requires more thought to play optimally.

Be sure to make use of the 'Export Talents' button to import the best build directly into your game!

We recommend you also check out our Dedicated Mythic+ Page.

5.

Mythic+ Farseer Talents for Elemental Shaman

This is an alternative build for Mythic+, the Elemental Tree talents are almost the same as the raid build, the only difference is a point into Crackling Fury Icon Crackling Fury. We would get two if we could but unfortunately it is not possible, too many key or required talents are mandatory. The main benefit of this build is higher mobility due to Earth Shock Icon Earth Shock ( Farseer gains additional Elemental Blast Icon Elemental Blast buffs from Final Calling Icon Final Calling).

Be sure to make use of the 'Export Talents' button to import the best build directly into your game!

We recommend you also check out our Dedicated Mythic+ Page.

6.

Raid Farseer Talents for Elemental Shaman

This is a high-mobility alternative for beginners or raid encounters with very heavy mobility requirements. It does significantly less damage.

Be sure to make use of the 'Export Talents' button to import the best build directly into your game!

7.

Delve Talents for Elemental Shaman

This build leans into solo play, leaving out Primordial Bond Icon Primordial Bond so our Earth Elemental Icon Earth Elemental can tank for us, and increasing our self-healing with Healing Stream Totem Icon Healing Stream Totem, while picking up Capacitor Totem Icon Capacitor Totem and Wind Shear Icon Wind Shear to control your enemies. Note that you can play a Stormbringer if you prefer, particularly if you are confident in your abilities and knowledge, and are ready to chain-pull.

Some general information on Delves can be found here: Delves

Be sure to make use of the 'Export Talents' button to import the best build directly into your game!

Note that our class trees purposefully ignores some utility talents, such as Purge Icon Purge. You should adjust this recommendation depending on what utility will be needed in each encounter. There is a reasonable amount of flexibility in our class tree, you can and should adapt your utility toolkit to the content you intend on doing.

FAQWhich Earthquake Icon Earthquake talent should I pick? ?
Unless you really hate placing Earthquake Icon Earthquake even with a cursor macro, the "area-targeted" version is generally superior, though it does take more work. We would recommend using the @cursor Macro from our Macros & Addons section.
8.

Apex Talent for Elemental Shaman: Feedback Loop

Midnight introduces "Apex" talents, which are a change-up compared to regular talents by providing multiple different bonuses depending on how many points you allocate in them. Elemental Shamans gain Feedback Loop Icon Feedback Loop, which while being a powerful damage increase has no influence your gameplay in any way. You simply gain slightly more Maelstrom, and Mastery becomes more valuable. For the most part, Feedback Loop is just a "do more damage" alent, but since the bonuses are tuned very high, they are absolutely mandatory picks in every circumstance.

  • Apex talent:Feedback Loop Icon Feedback Loop — Elemental Overload damage increased by 35%.
  • Apex talent:Feedback Loop Icon Feedback Loop — Spell critical strike chance increased by 5%/10%. Elemental Fury Icon Elemental Fury increases spell critical strike damage by an additional 25%/50%.
  • Apex talent:Feedback Loop Icon Feedback Loop — Elemental Overloads have a 25% chance to cause an additional Elemental Overload. This can only occur once per cast.

Hero Talents for Elemental Shaman

9.1.

Stormbringer

Stormbringer is significantly more powerful in most group content, but it comes at the cost of lesser mobility and greater complexity in AoE. This is the default Hero Talent choice for all Raid and Mythic+ content.

9.2.

Farseer

Farseer's main appeal is its ease of use thanks to significantly better mobility and less rotational complexity. It is now however significantly behind in raw damage, particularly for sustained AoE, in most situations where you can "turret" and just spam casts. This means that Farseer is okay for open world content or for beginners, or if you absolutely want more mobility. Advanced players will stick to Stormbringer for most instanced content.

10.

PvP Talents (War Mode)

In the open world, you can go into "War Mode." Enabling War Mode provides the following benefits:

  • PvP talents enabled in the outdoor world.
  • 10% increase in World Quest rewards at maximum level.
  • 10% more experience gained while leveling.
  • Earn Conquest Points, which can reward gear every week.

Keep in mind that turning this on you will make yourself available for open-world PvP, and the possibility to be "ganked" while leveling or doing World Quests exists. If you need advice on how to fight against other players, visit the link below.

10.1.

Elemental Shaman War Mode Talents

In this section, we will rank the PvP talents best for leveling and doing solo or small-group PvE content. Below is a ranking of Elemental Shaman-specific PvP talents to aid in PvE.

  1. Storm Conduit Icon Storm Conduit reduces the cooldown of Astral Shift Icon Astral Shift, Gust of Wind Icon Gust of Wind, Wind Shear Icon Wind Shear and Nature Totems by 1 second every time you cast Lightning Bolt Icon Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning Icon Chain Lightning. It also reduces the time you are interrupted by 30% when casting those two spells.
  2. Lightning Lasso Icon Lightning Lasso is a channeled ability that grips the target in lightning, stunning it and dealing moderate Nature damage over 5 seconds while the lasso lasts. It also lets you move while channeling.
  3. Counterstrike Totem Icon Counterstrike Totem replicates and reflects damage you take for 15 seconds on a 40-second cooldown. This can be really strong when in a high-damage area to deal some chip damage to targets around you and convert your health pool into additional damage.
  4. Burrow Icon Burrow Burrow beneath the ground, becoming un-attackable, removing movement-impairing effects, and increasing your movement speed by 50% for 5 seconds. When the effect ends, enemies within 6 yards are knocked into the air and take a moderate amount of Physical Damage. This ability has a 2-minute cooldown.
  5. Totem of Wrath Icon Totem of Wrath increases the critical effect of spells of allies within 40 yards by 15% for 15 seconds after casting Stormkeeper Icon Stormkeeper. Good for solo play and excellent if you are doing outdoor content with others.
  6. Static Field Totem Icon Static Field Totem summons a totem at a target location that creates a circle of terrain that enemies cannot move through. It is extremely handy, versatile crowd control with a 1-minute cooldown.
  7. Shamanism Icon Shamanism transforms Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust/Heroism Icon Heroism into a weaker, shorter duration cooldown that is up every minute. It lasts 10 seconds and, only increases Haste by 20%, and does not apply Sated/Exhaustion. It is certainly an okay choice, but I much prefer the stronger, rarer cooldown.
  8. Grounding Totem Icon Grounding Totem can be handy in PvE but is mostly strong in PvP-exclusive activities.
  9. Electrocute Icon Electrocute is mostly useful against players and requires talenting and binding either Purge Icon Purge or Greater Purge Icon Greater Purge. Only take this if you are actively heading into PvP.

We recommend picking 3 of the above talents, depending on what you value most. Personally, I recommend choosing Storm Conduit Icon Storm Conduit, Counterstrike Totem Icon Counterstrike Totem and Lightning Lasso Icon Lightning Lasso or Burrow Icon Burrow by default.
