Elemental Shaman DPS Easy Mode — The War Within (Season 1)

This section is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialization without being overwhelmed by the numerous priorities and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.

Elemental is a specific specialization that can easily adapt to most situations comfortably. The amount of keybinds required to play this specialization effectively is relatively low, making it a great choice for less seasoned players. This section will focus on a setup that is universally strong and should function adequately in every situation. Minimizing the number of buttons and reactivity was the original goal of this page, but with the Shaman rework, it is unfortunately very difficult to drop active abilities without severely compromising your overall damage output.

The following build is not the best possible for every specific situation. However, it tries to be universally "good-enough" while focusing on ease of use.

1. Intellect
2. A ton of Haste
3. Some Critical Strike
4. Some Versatility
5. As little Mastery as possible

1. Use Ancestral Swiftness whenever available.
2. Cast Storm Elemental.
3. Cast Stormkeeper.
4. Cast Primordial Wave. It can be okay to let Flame Shock drop for a couple of seconds if you did not get enough cooldown reduction from Flash of Lightning.
5. Only Cast Lava Burst to consume Primordial Wave.
6. Cast Earth Shock if Master of the Elements is up or if your next cast would bring you above your maximum Maelstrom.
7. Cast Lightning Bolt.
8. Cast instant Lava Bursts with Lava Surge procs while moving.
9. Cast Frost Shock while moving if you REALLY have to.

Note that the ideal Elemental Shaman priorities differ depending on how many targets you are fighting. This is an approximative "overall" list. For more accurate priority lists for every situation, please refer to the Rotation, Cooldowns, and Abilities page.

1. Use Ancestral Swiftness whenever available.
2. Cast Storm Elemental IF your "main" Storm Elemental from your previous cast faded naturally, otherwise the "mini" Elemental from Echo of the Elementals will not spawn.
3. Cast Liquid Magma Totem to apply Flame Shocks if the targets will live for most of the Flame Shocks' duration.
4. Cast Primordial Wave on whichever target is closest to losing the Flame Shock effect unless it is close to dying.
5. Only cast Lava Burst if it will benefit from Primordial Wave.
6. Cast Earthquake.
7. Cast Chain Lightning.
8. Cast instant Lava Bursts with Lava Surge procs while moving.
