General Information

On this page, we explain how to easily play Elemental Shaman in World of Warcraft — Shadowlands Pre-Patch 9.0.1, using the simplest rotation, talent tree, stat priority, gear setup, etc., without sacrificing performance.

This section is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty, or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialization without being overwhelmed by the numerous priorities and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.

The Basics for Elemental Shaman

Elemental is a straightforward specialization that can easily adapt to most situations comfortably. The amount of keybinds required to effectively play this specialization is relatively low, making it a great choice for less seasoned players. In this section we will be focusing on a setup that minimizes the amount of buttons and reactivity necessary without unduly compromising overall damage output.

If you are completely new to Elemental and need more information on the abilities available to you, you can check out our Spell Summary page.

Talent Choice for Elemental Shaman

These choices are optimized for ease of use. Although some talents might offer higher gains when played perfectly, these same talents often result in damage losses when utilized by many players. These talents aim to present the best setup that has very little punishment for unfamiliarity or mistakes.

If you are looking for the absolute best talents for Elemental, which do not compromise on performance for ease of use, you can find a more in-depth analysis on our full talents page below.

Stat Priority for the "easy" Elemental Shaman build

While the stat priority for classes is usually the same for both the Easy Mode page and our full guide, differences can still occur. If you want to see the full explanation of the stat priority, as well as the absolute top choices for the priority, head to our full stats page below.

Azerite Traits

Azerite Traits play an important role for Elemental Shamans. This means you need to decide which Azerite items you should choose. The traits are very close to each other in power, though, so we recommend our //www.icy-veins.com/wow/elemental-shaman-pve-dps-azerite-traits-powers-and-armor page for more details. Generally, you want to get several Igneous Potential Icon Igneous Potential, then Blightborne Infusion Icon Blightborne Infusion or Natural Harmony Icon Natural Harmony as outer ring traits. As middle ring traits, you want Unstable Flames Icon Unstable Flames and, if you cannot get that, either Overwhelming Power Icon Overwhelming Power or Heed My Call Icon Heed My Call.

Azerite Essences

Azerite Essences grant significant DPS bonuses. You should get a major power essence slotted as soon as possible. We recommend using Worldvein Resonance as your major essence (Major: Worldvein Resonance Icon Worldvein Resonance / Minor: Lifeblood Icon Lifeblood), with the new Breath of the Dying (Lethal Strikes Icon Lethal Strikes, The Crucible of Flame (Ancient Flame Icon Ancient Flame), and Conflict and Strife (Strife Icon Strife) as minors (in order of importance).
