Which Artifact Path to Pick as Fire Mage?

In Legion Remix you will have to pick one of five paths in your Artifact Weapon to spend your Infinite Power Icon Infinite Power on. These five trees each have their own unique active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle, but keep in mind that you can freely respec these trees without any downsides, so I highly recommend you try out any tree that looks interesting or fun to you.

For Solo Players: After obtaining enough Infinite Knowledge to make it to Storm Surger Icon Storm Surger / Brewing Storm Icon Brewing Storm in the Storm tree, I highly recommend swapping to this tree. Not only does it provide some of the best overall damage, the Storm Surger Icon Storm Surger / Brewing Storm Icon Brewing Storm node is incredible to pick up as a caster, as it allows you to freely cast while moving at all times, which means you can kite any enemy perfectly without losing damage. Either choice is a good pick up, with Storm Surger being preferred if you enjoy constantly moving (even when you do not have to), whereas Brewing Storm is better for maximizing your damage output, if you stand still more often. Until you reach enough Infinite Knowledge to pick up these nodes, you can either just start out with Storm for high damage, or go for Nature or Arcane for a more balanced approach with a bit more survivability.

For Duo-ing: When teaming up with one other player, having a combination of Fel and either Storm or Arcane works best. The player talenting into the Fel tree will apply Fel Touched to enemies, while the Arcane and Storm damage deals increased damage against Fel Touched enemies, something you cannot benefit from by yourself. Since Storm is very useful as a caster, we recommend picking, this and having your partner pick Fel for maximum damage output. If you are playing with another caster who also prefers Storm, either both of you can just play Storm, or you can go Fel, as it is similar damage, and losing the mobility is not that impactful when duo-ing since you can generally stand still more.

For Group Play: When doing 5-man dungeons, Storm does incredible AoE damage, while providing great utility by allowing you to move while casting. If your group does not have anyone playing Fel, but multiple players in Storm or Arcane, going with Fel will probably yield your group the most overall damage.

Here's a quick overview of each of the trees:

  • Storm: Our go-to due to its ability to allow you to move while casting, while providing great damage, especially on AoE. Tempest Wrath Icon Tempest Wrath, especially combined with the other major talents can quickly destroy entire packs.
  • Fel: This is a purely damage-focused tree, allowing you to summon a Dreadlord with Twisted Crusade Icon Twisted Crusade that will summon a Rain of Fire to deal damage in an area. With the capstone you can re-use this ability for a massive amount of AoE burst around the Dreadlords location. It also provides debuffs on enemies via Fel Touched which provides benefits not just to yourself, but also others.
  • Nature: This tree offers strong damage procs, while the active ability Call of the Forest Icon Call of the Forest shields you as well as dealing moderate AoE damage to targets in front of you. The tree provides a large survivability boost, not just to yourself, but also anyone else you play with. Generally you will not need this survivability as much as a ranged class with great crowd-control, so it is more of a group utility tree as a Fire Mage.
  • Arcane: This tree mixes survivability and DPS, but only if you can stand still in combat. It's active ability, Naran's Everdisc Icon Naran's Everdisc, deals massive AoE damage to targets in front of you, and you can benefit from this up to 3 times if you catch the orb as it returns to you.
  • Holy: This tree is a bit more healing-oriented, which can provide helpful, especially if you choose to face-tank enemies instead of kite or crowd-control them. Its active ability Vindicator's Judgment Icon Vindicator's Judgment will deal massive AoE damage and healing, while its passives will provide regular procs of healing to yourself or party members if you team up with other players

Best Legion Remix Leveling Build for Fire Mage

Open World and Questing Build Dungeon and Mythic+ Build Raid and Bossing Build
4.1.

Open World and Questing Build

This build assumes you are spending a lot of time questing or just farming regular enemies in open world content.

Note: You can swap Slipstream Icon Slipstream to Presence of Mind Icon Presence of Mind if you are playing as Storm. However, neither passive provides much benefit when playing Storm, but you need to pick either up to unlock other nodes.

4.2.

Dungeon and Mythic+ Build

This build is intended for dungeons and Mythic+, prioritizing AoE damage over single-target.

Leveling Rotation for Fire Mage

Since Legion Remix is the perfect opportunity to level classes you haven't played before, we wanted to keep things as simple as possible for those learning the spec. Simply use the slider to select your level to learn a little bit more about how and when to use the abilities you just unlocked.

Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!

Level: 1

When using our slider, note that some talents may appear sooner than you expect them to in the rotation. This is due to the differences in the recommended builds above, each taking talents at slightly different times, and sometimes entirely different talents.

Depending on your chosen Artifact Path, you will have access to different abilities. All of the Artifact abilities are very strong, so you will want to use them whenever they are off cooldown.
