Arcane Mage DPS Gems, Enchants, and Consumables — Midnight Pre-Patch (12.0)

This section specifically covers the optimal gems, enchants, food, and flasks to use for your character. To get a more detailed rundown of the different stats for Arcane Mage, please visit our dedicated Stats page.

We highly recommend using Raidbots to sim your character's ideal gems and enchants, as they might differ from our general recommendations.

The best stats for Arcane Mages when Raiding or doing Mythic+ depend heavily on your gear. The best stats for Arcane are very dynamic, and getting a bit more of one will make the others better and vice versa. Generally, Haste and Mastery are a safe option, but depending on your gear, other gems can be better. There is no universal rule for gems for Arcane Mage, and gemming a lot of one gem can make the other gems more valuable.

You should use Culminating Blasphemite in one socket. Then, you should ensure you have one gem of each type in other sockets to max out the Crit effect, ideally Quick Ruby/ Quick Onyx/ Quick Sapphire/ Masterful Emerald. Fill in remaining sockets with Masterful Emerald.

However, if simming has you showing other gems to be better, we suggest following those results.

An alternative option is using Elusive Blasphemite. This is a small DPS loss ( ~0.5%), but provides a meaningful movement speed boost, which can often end up being worth more DPS due to having to spend less time moving.

The exact best Ring enchants heavily depend on your gear. Generally, Haste or Mastery will be a safe bet (within 0.1% of each other), but depending on how much you have of either, it can switch around. The best way to ensure optimal enchants is to sim Raidbots Top Gear. However, differences are usually small, so if you want to avoid re-enchanting gear, I recommend simply enchanting Haste or Mastery.

In this section I highlight some consumables that can be useful when leveling in Midnight. These will focus primarily on speed. Both your movement speed, and of course your actual DPS.

• Enchant Boots - Scout's March — Boots Speed Enchant.
• Enchant Cloak - Chant of Burrowing Rapidity — Cloak Speed Enchant.
• Enchant Bracer - Chant of Armored Speed — Bracers Speed Enchant.

• Exquisitely Eviscerated Muscle — Provides a large amount of speed.
• Fried Bonefish or Bear Tartare — Older speed buffs, which might be useful if they are much cheaper or you happen to have them leftover from previous expansions.

You should be drinking the Flask of Alchemical Chaos at all times.

You should be using Algari Mana Oil.

Your stat potion should be Tempered Potion. Use these when you will do the most damage with your abilities, likely during your cooldowns and/or Bloodlust/ Heroism. You can also obtain Fleeting Tempered Potion from Cauldrons that can be spawned by Alchemists.

You should keep a stock of Invigorating Healing Potions to use when at low health, and if you have a Warlock in the group, grab their Healthstones and use them as well. Do not macro these together, they are best used separately! You can also obtain Fleeting Invigorating Healing Potion from Cauldrons that can be spawned by Alchemists.

You should be eating from a Feast at all times, either Feast of the Divine Day, Feast of the Midnight Masquerade, or Hearty Feast of the Midnight Masquerade.

If Feasts are not available, eat Outsider's Provisions, Beledar's Bounty, Jester's Board, or Empress' Farewell instead.

In addition, if you can afford it, you should use Crystallized Augment Runes to increase your primary stat. Augment Runes are expensive, and disappear on death, so use them wisely!

You can also buy the permanent Ethereal Augment Rune once at Renown 18 with the new Season 3 K'aresh Trust faction or use the Soulgorged Augment Runes that drop from the new raid and persist through death.
