Fire Mage Leveling Guide from 1 to 80 — The War Within (11.1.5)

Fire Mage, is relatively strong at outdoor content, when you are able to do massive pulls during Combustion and quickly kill all enemies. However, it struggles if enemies are spread out, as Fire takes a little while to start doing its damage properly, and Fire is not very good at swapping targets often. Unfortunately, these same downsides apply to dungeons as well, as leveling dungeons often are fast with enemies dying quickly. Due to this, the best course of leveling is usually to simply do quests.

When leveling up, always choose the piece of loot with the highest item level. The only exception to this rule is if you have a Ring or Necklace with a slightly lower item level, but 2 secondary stats on it instead of 1.

Below, you can see the suggested levelling talent build and the order in which to pick the talents while levelling.

The below build is good for both outdoor content and dungeon content.

Starting at Level 1, you only have one main attack ability: Frostbolt.

1. Make sure you keep Arcane Intellect up at all times. Keep in mind, if you die, you have to re-cast it. Otherwise just cast it once per hour.
2. Cast Time Warp when you are about to go into a big pull or boss fight. Keep in mind, you can only gain the benefit once every 10 minutes, even though the cooldown is 5 minutes.
3. During Hyperthermia, cast Pyroblast.
4. Use Fire Blast on cooldown.
5. Cast Arcane Explosion when there are 3 or more targets.
6. Cast Combustion when it is ready and you have at least a couple of charges of Fire Blast and Phoenix Flames.
7. Cast Pyroblast when you have Hot Streak.
8. Cast Fire Blast when you have Heating Up to get Hot Streak.
9. Cast Scorch when you have Heat Shimmer to generate Heating Up if you do not have Hot Streak.
10. Cast Phoenix Flames to generate Heating Up if you do not have Hot Streak.
11. Cast Scorch as your filler when the enemy target is below 30% health.
12. Cast Fireball as your filler.

In this section we will rank the PvP talents best for leveling and doing solo / small group PvE content.

1. Glass Cannon gives you a significant damage buff. The reduced health is usually not a problem in open-world content.
2. Ring of Fire puts up a relatively large circle that burns enemies who walk into the outer part of the circle, doing significant damage.
3. Greater Pyroblast is a very hard-hitting spell, especially on high-health enemies, and it will greatly increase your damage against high-health enemies, like world bosses or rares.
