Hogger Hogg Wild Angles
Learn how to efficiently use Hogger's Hogg Wild for capturing Mercenary Camps on all Maps in Heroes of the Storm.
Introduction
Hogg Wild can be used to bounce back and forth between two blocks of
impassable terrain, dealing damage to all enemies on its path.
Hogger can also create another temporary block of impassable terrain by casting
Loot Hoard on a target location, which opens up new angles for using
Hogg Wild.
How to aim
Hogg Wild if you want to capture a Mercenary Camp as fast as possible?
The answer is different for almost every Mercenary Camp across all Maps because they have different statistics
and they are surrounded by a different shape of impassable terrain.
Use horizontal, vertical, or diagonal Hogg Wild angles to efficiently clear them.
This guide has been created with the help of Debug Mode, a special Sandbox for all Maps. If you want to test out our Hogg Wild angles on a specific Map that is not available as Sandbox in Custom Games, follow the instructions provided in our Debug Mode Guide.
Usage
When you want to clear Mercenary Camps, you can cast
Hogg Wild
between two parallel segments of impassable terrain (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally)
or with the use of
Loot Hoard on one side (horizontally or vertically).
Recommended Settings
Here are the recommended settings for efficiently clearing Mercenary Camps as Hogger:
- set your Keyboard Scroll Speed between 50% and 100%;
- disable Camera Follow (even if only temporarily);
- enable Force Move;
- configure Camera Turn hotkeys (only for diagonal paths).
50% Keyboard Scroll Speed is nice for placing
Loot Hoard as close as possible
after tapping an arrow key. 100% Keyboard Scroll Speed is nice for quickly moving the camera away
before casting
Hogg Wild.
If you prefer to play the game with Camera Follow enabled, you can press the [L] key to temporarily disable it, clear Mercenary Camps as explained here, and then press the [L] key again to re-enable Camera Follow.
Force Move helps a lot because it makes it impossible to accidentally issue a Basic Attack command instead of a Move command, so you will always move to the target location when you want to, even if there is an enemy there.
Sometimes, when trying to position for casting
Hogg Wild, you will get
body-blocked by Mercenaries. When that happens, you need to issue additional
Move commands until Hogger reaches the desired location.
Camera Turn hotkeys are only useful for clearing Mercenary Camps where it is possible to bounce diagonally, however, in this guide we only recommend horizontal and vertical paths because they are easier to execute and similarly good.
Step-by-Step Guide
To clear Mercenary Camps with the aforementioned settings:
- choose the
Hogg Wild path you intend to use; - if the path is diagonal, use your Camera Turn hotkeys to make it horizontal or vertical;
- send Hogger to the starting position and do not move your mouse cursor;
- use the arrow keys to slightly move your camera in the direction
you want to cast
Hogg Wild; - if the path is horizontal or vertical, cast
Loot Hoard; - use the arrow keys to further move your camera in the direction
you want to cast
Hogg Wild; - cast
Hogg Wild; - press the [Space] key to reset your camera position to where Hogger currently is;
- when appropriate, press the [E] again to stop bouncing;
- spread your Basic Attacks so that all Mercenaries have about the same Health remaining;
- finish them off with
Ez-Thro Dynamite and
Staggering Blow.
You can also use the [Shift] modifier to queue up
Hogg Wild while Hogger
is still moving to the starting position, so that he will immediately cast it once there.
Angles
The best Hogg Wild angles are horizontal or vertical because they can be combined with
Loot Hoard for covering a small area with
Hogg Wild
and then continue by covering a bigger area when
Loot Hoard ends.
You also need Mercenaries to be grouped as much as possible, so that they all take damage
from
Hogg Wild at the same time.
While the general idea behind all the Hogg Wild angles is the same, you need to learn all of them because they are all slightly different from each other. The difficulty changes based on how much impassable terrain is surrounding them, if there are horizontal or vertical angles to use, and how much Health and damage output the Mercenaries have.
Alterac Pass
Siege Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce horizontally.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
You can drink from the Healing Fountain right before starting to clear this Mercenary Camp. The healing over time will keep you healthy against potential invades from the enemy team.
Battlefield of Eternity
Bruiser Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce horizontally
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
Even though Hogger can clear this Mercenary Camp alone, the most efficient way to clear it is to let Hogger kill the 2 Fallen Hounds while an allied Hero with good single-target damage kills the Fallen Shaman. Hogger alone will bring the Fallen Shaman down to 50% maximum Health.
You should drink from the Healing Fountain right before starting to clear this Mercenary Camp. The healing over time will keep you healthy against potential invades from the enemy team.
Siege Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
You need to group all Mercenaries towards the side where the distance between top
and bottom impassable terrain is smaller.
For doing so, use
Staggering Blow horizontally from the side
to knock only 2 Mercenaries back.
Blackheart's Bay
Bottom Bruiser Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
Once in combat, the Wizard instantly casts an armor aura. To play around it,
you need to start with
Ez-Thro Dynamite, wait for it to explode,
cast
Staggering Blow, hit the Wizard with 3-4 Basic Attacks,
and then set up
Loot Hoard and
Hogg Wild.
You should drink from the Healing Fountain right before starting to clear this Mercenary Camp. The healing over time will keep you healthy against potential invades from the enemy team.
Siege Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce horizontally
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise

You need to group all Mercenaries towards the side where the
impassable terrain creates a C-shape.
For doing so, use
Staggering Blow diagonally from the top
to knock both Mercenaries diagonally towards the bottom.
Top Bruiser Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce horizontally.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
Once in combat, the Wizard instantly casts an armor aura. To play around it,

Ez-Thro Dynamite, wait for it to explode,

Braxis Holdout
Bruiser Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
You need to position right behind the outer Mercenary, aim towards the top corner,
and then use
Staggering Blow. After that, you need to position
Loot Hoard right behind the farthest Mercenary.
You should drink from the Healing Fountain right before starting to clear this Mercenary Camp. The healing over time will keep you healthy against potential invades from the enemy team.
Siege Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce horizontally.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.

Staggering Blow

Cursed Hollow
Bruiser Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
You need to position right behind the Mercenary closest to the Banner, aim towards the U-shape
at the bottom, and then use
Staggering Blow. After that, you need to position
Loot Hoard right behind the farthest Mercenary.
Once in combat, the Wizard instantly casts an armor aura. To play around it,
you need to start with
Ez-Thro Dynamite, wait for it to explode,
cast
Staggering Blow, hit the Wizard with 3-4 Basic Attacks,
and then set up
Loot Hoard and
Hogg Wild.
You should drink from the Healing Fountain right before starting to clear this Mercenary Camp. The healing over time will keep you healthy against potential invades from the enemy team.

You need to group all Mercenaries towards the side where the
impassable terrain on the opposite side can be used to bounce off of it.
For doing so, use
Staggering Blow diagonally from the top
to knock both Mercenaries towards the bottom.
Top/Bottom Siege Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
Hanamura Temple
Fortification Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
You should drink from the Healing Fountain right before starting to clear this Mercenary Camp. The healing over time will keep you healthy against potential invades from the enemy team.
Hogger cannot efficiently clear this Mercenary Camp on his own because the Engineer dies way before the Turret. You should do it together with another allied Hero or let other allied Heroes take care of it.
Recon Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
Sentinel Camp
Hogger is not capable of clearing this Mercenary Camp on his own because it is way too strong. You should do it together with another allied Hero or let other allied Heroes take care of it.
Haunted Mines
Sapper Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
Siege Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
You need to position right behind the Mercenary farthest away from the Banner, aim towards the
other Mercenary, and then use
Staggering Blow. After that, you need to position
Loot Hoard as close as possible to both Mercenaries.
Infernal Shrines
Bruiser Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
Even though Hogger can clear this Mercenary Camp alone, the most efficient way to clear it is to let Hogger kill the 2 Fallen Hounds while an allied Hero with good single-target damage kills the Fallen Shaman. Hogger alone will bring the Fallen Shaman down to 50% maximum Health.

Loot Hoard as close as possible to all Mercenaries.
Bottom Siege Camp

Hogg Wild to bounce vertically.

Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
You need to group all Mercenaries towards any side because from there the
impassable terrain on the opposite side can be used to bounce off of it.

Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
You need to group all Mercenaries towards the side far away from the brush because from there the
impassable terrain on the opposite side can be used to bounce off of it.
For doing so, use
Staggering Blow diagonally from the bottom
to knock only the closest 2 Mercenaries diagonally towards the top.
Top Sapper Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically
on
Loot Hoard. Press the [E] key again when it expires, otherwise
you will move too far from the Mercenary Camp and lower your damage output.
You need to group all Mercenaries together towards the top because from there
impassable terrain can be used to bounce off of it.
For doing so, use
Staggering Blow diagonally from the bottom
to knock only the closest 2 Mercenaries diagonally towards the top.
Volskaya Foundry
Siege Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce horizontally.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
You need to position right behind the Mercenary farthest away from the Banner, aim towards him,
and then use
Staggering Blow. After that, you need to position
Loot Hoard right behind the farthest Mercenary.
Support Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce horizontally.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
Hogger cannot efficiently clear this Mercenary Camp on his own because this Sentinel can heal up. You should do it together with another allied Hero or let other allied Heroes take care of it.
Fortification Camp
You have to use
Hogg Wild to bounce vertically.
You start bouncing on
Loot Hoard and then, once it expires,
you continue bouncing on impassable terrain.
Press the [E] key again when the damage from
Staggering Blow
and
Ez-Thro Dynamite can finish them off.
You should drink from the Healing Fountain right before starting to clear this Mercenary Camp. The healing over time will keep you healthy against potential invades from the enemy team.
Hogger cannot efficiently clear this Mercenary Camp on his own because the Engineer dies way before the Turret. You should do it together with another allied Hero or let other allied Heroes take care of it.
