General Information

Welcome to our guide for Lt. Morales, a Healer in Heroes of the Storm. Within these pages, you will find everything required to understand how best to play this hero, in both different map styles and team compositions.

1.

Lt. Morales's Overview

Lt. Morales is a powerful single-target Healer who can provide Armor to allied Heroes, but her lack of mobility and crowd control makes her an easy target to engage on, especially if you are not careful with her positioning.

Lt. Morales's Talent Build Cheatsheet

Healing Beam Build

Recommended
Level 1 Life Support Icon
Level 4 Cellular Reactor Icon
Level 7 Vanadium Plating Icon Physical Therapy Icon ?
Level 10 Stim Drone Icon Medivac Dropships Icon ?
Level 13 Bedside Manner Icon System Shock Icon ? EMP Grenade Icon ?
Level 16 First Responder Icon
Level 20 Hyperactivity Icon Safe Zone Icon ?

Lt. Morales's Healing Beam Build allows you to constantly heal your team when they take poke damage without spending too much Energy in the process.

Life Support Icon Life Support at Level 1 provides you extra Energy and, if you cast Healing Beam Icon Healing Beam for 4 seconds and then pause for 4 seconds, allows you to stay above the threshold for First Responder Icon First Responder at Level 16.

Safeguard Build

Level 1 Caduceus Feedback Icon
Level 4 Cellular Reactor Icon
Level 7 Medi-Drone Icon
Level 10 Stim Drone Icon Medivac Dropships Icon ?
Level 13 Bedside Manner Icon System Shock Icon ? EMP Grenade Icon ?
Level 16 Shield Sequencer Icon
Level 20 Hospice Care Icon Hyperactivity Icon ? Safe Zone Icon ?

Lt. Morales's Safeguard Build drastically increases your own survivability against dive by empowering Safeguard Icon Safeguard in various ways.

The second charge of Safeguard Icon Safeguard provided by Shield Sequencer Icon Shield Sequencer at Level 16, combined with Medi-Drone Icon Medi-Drone at Level 7, makes Lt. Morales extremely hard to kill for the enemy team.

Displacement Grenade Build

Level 4 Blast Shield Icon

Level 10 Stim Drone Icon Medivac Dropships Icon ?
Level 13 Bedside Manner Icon System Shock Icon ? EMP Grenade Icon ?
Level 16 Extended Care Icon
Level 20 Second Opinion Icon Hyperactivity Icon ? Safe Zone Icon ?

Lt. Morales's Displacement Grenade Build gives you a lot of utility in the form of personal Shields and constant Knockbacks once you reach the late game.

You can use this Build against team compositions featuring a lot of melee Heroes, who tend to play near each other, as you will make their life harder and at the same time it will be easier to get value from Second Opinion Icon Second Opinion at Level 20 and Blast Shield Icon Blast Shield at Level 4.

Lt. Morales's Synergies and Counters

V Lt. Morales synergizes with

Lt. Morales requires a solid Tank who can consistently peel multiple enemy Heroes away from her (such as E.T.C.). If you want to get value from Stim Drone Icon Stim Drone, you need a marksman in your team (for example Sgt. Hammer).

X Lt. Morales is countered by

Considering that Healing Beam Icon Healing Beam needs the targeted allied Hero to be in range for the whole time and not just the moment you cast it, Lt. Morales suffers against Heroes who have Displacement effects (such as Garrosh and Junkrat). Due to her limited self-healing and lack of crowd control, she does not like to play against dive compositions that count on aggressive Heroes who can directly engage on her by skipping her frontline (for example Zeratul and Anub'arak). What is often overlooked is the fact that she suffers poke damage because it can drain out her Energy in around 20 seconds, something that will make her almost useless for a while. As a consequence of how her Energy works, she does not want to take prolonged fights, especially when the enemy team can get value out of them (such as Auriel). Last but not the least, she definitely suffers area of effect damage (for example Lunara) because all of her Abilities can heal or mitigate damage on a single allied Hero at a time.

Lt. Morales's Maps

Lt. Morales's stronger maps
Braxis Holdout
Lt. Morales's average maps
Alterac Pass Battlefield of Eternity Dragon Shire Hanamura Temple Infernal Shrines Tomb of the Spider Queen Towers of Doom Volskaya Foundry
Lt. Morales's weaker maps
Blackheart's Bay Cursed Hollow Garden of Terror Sky Temple Warhead Junction

Lt. Morales performs better on Maps where the team fight cannot evolve on different fronts because she suffers from flank and dive strategies a lot. The notorious backdoor strategy involving Medivac Dropships Icon Medivac Dropships works best on big Maps (preferably Sky Temple) and can completely reverse their ratings.

Lt. Morales's Tips and Tricks

  • When healing a Hero with Healing Beam Icon Healing Beam, especially if melee, try to synchronize your movement with theirs to avoid going out of position and getting focused down by the enemy team.
  • Do not use Safeguard Icon Safeguard in random moments but instead try to cast it when it will mitigate a good amount of damage.
  • You can reactivate Displacement Grenade Icon Displacement Grenade to make it detonate immediately rather than at its maximum range.
  • While the best targets for Stim Drone Icon Stim Drone are marksmen, you can occasionally use it on Heroes from different Roles when they need Movement Speed to chase or escape.
  • A short range Medivac Dropship Icon Medivac Dropship can protect yourself from danger without leaving your team without their Healer for too much time.
  • Thanks to Caduceus Reactor Icon Caduceus Reactor, Healing Beam Icon Healing Beam can be used to heal Lt. Morales without consuming Energy by targeting an allied Hero or allied Minion at full Health.
7.

Lt. Morales's Role in the Current Meta

Lt. Morales is a solid but situational Healer that can easily keep her frontline healthy against focused damage, but make sure to have a good target for Stim Drone Icon Stim Drone to get the most value out of her, usually a Marskman (such as Raynor).

Alternatively, if you are playing with an organized team, you can use Medivac Dropships Icon Medivac Dropships for the infamous backdoor strategy involving a Hero who can deny the damage coming from enemy Structures (such as Tyrael with Sanctification Icon Sanctification) and a few Heroes who can take them down for the duration (for example Artanis with Amateur Opponent Icon Amateur Opponent, Raynor, and Greymane), before the enemy team can react.
