2. Alexstrasza's Talent Build Cheatsheet
Abundance BuildTalent calculator »
The Abundance Build focuses on AoE healing and synergizes particularly well with Heroes that benefit from Regeneration Globes in some way like Diablo, for instance. These Heroes can get great value from the completed Quest bonus granted by Circle of Life. However, this Build is quite susceptible to enemy AoE damage and crowd control. Thus, make sure to place Abundance carefully to prevent allies from taking more damage than Abundance can heal.
Single Target Heal BuildTalent calculator »
The Single Target Heal Build provides you with great control and timing when it comes to healing individual allies. The various talents possess great synergy, which makes this Build very fluent to play. The first crucial power spike hits at Level 7, when Lifeblossom becomes available. This talent allows Alexstrasza to keep healing without losing health herself, however, be careful not to overextend just to pick up the Blossom. At Level 13, Pacify can be picked instead of Life Unbound if the enemy team features burst heavy Assassins. At Level 16, Tough Love can be a great choice if you notice certain allies getting focused very hard by the enemy team.
3. Level 1 Talents for Alexstrasza
While Alexstrasza is above 75% Health, Gift of Life's cooldown recharges 100% faster.
Quest: Collect Regeneration Globes.
Reward: After collecting 15 Regeneration Globes, Abundance heals for an additional 5% maximum Health.
Reward: After collecting 25 Regeneration Globes, Abundance's healing burst creates a Regeneration Globe.
Quest: Hit 20 Burning Heroes with Flame Buffet.
Reward: Hitting a Burning Hero with Flame Buffet reduces Dragonqueen's cooldown by 5 seconds.
Circle of Life's extra healing is definitely noteworthy after its completion, however, Abundance itself can be a tricky ability to use. The crux about it is that it can be a blessing in disguise depending on how well your opponents know how to play against Alexstrasza. Good opponents will use AoE abilities or healing debuffs whenever your allies group in the circle to heal so be mindful when and where you cast Abundance.
Flames of Fury takes some time to complete and even after completion it only offers a modest reward. Reducing Dragonqueen's cooldown by 5 seconds each time Flame Buffet hits an enemy Hero is useful during team fights but remains a slumbering boon during the majority of the game.
4. Level 4 Talents for Alexstrasza
Abundance's healing burst grants allied Heroes 30% Movement Speed for 3 seconds.
Increase Flame Buffet's initial Slow from 40% to 60%.
While above 75% Health, gain 15% Movement Speed.
Surge of Vitality can be a good choice if your team generally lacks mobility. Even if you only hit one or two Heroes, the Movement Speed bonus is significant enough to make this talent a worthwhile investment.
Heat Exhaustion is not a bad talent at all. The increased Movement Speed Slow can severely cripple your opponents and allow your teammates to either chase them down or run away from them more efficiently depending on which situation they find themselves in.
Exuberance is a great talent for Alexstrasza, especially if the enemy team features several melee Assassins and Warriors who could pressure her.
5. Level 7 Talents for Alexstrasza
While Alexstrasza is above 75% Health, Gift of Life creates a Lifeblossom at the target's location. Alexstrasza can collect the Lifeblossom to make her next Gift of Life cost no Health.
Alexstrasza receives 30% more healing from Abundance and 100% more healing from Regeneration Globes.
Hitting a Burning Hero with Flame Buffet heals Alexstrasza for 10% of her maximum Health.
Lifeblossom works very well with Live and Let Live at Level 1 and allows Alexstrasza to heal without losing any health as long as she keeps picking up the Lifeblossoms. However, keep in mind that taking unnecessary damage or even dying only to pick up a Lifeblossom is not recommended.
Fire Within adds a decent amount of self-healing to Alexstrasza herself. Unfortunately, it does not add any additional protection to any of her allies, which renders it inferior to either of the other Level 7 talents.
6. Level 10 Talents for Alexstrasza
- Mana: 60
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
Bind Alexstrasza's life force with an allied Hero. Both her and her target are healed for 480 (+4% per level) Health over 2 seconds. Afterwards, the Hero with a lower percentage of Health is healed to the same Health percentage as the other Hero.
- Mana: 100
- Cooldown: 100 seconds
After 1.25 seconds, take to the sky and drop 5 fireballs over 6 seconds at the position of the mouse cursor. Fireballs deal 135 (+4% per level) damage to enemies and heal allied Heroes for 300 (+4% per level) Health.
2 seconds after dropping all fireballs, Alexstrasza lands at the position of the mouse cursor.
Cleansing Flame is a unique Heroic Ability that provides plenty of boons to Alexstrasza. First and foremost, Cleansing Flame comes with innate healing and damaging aspects, making it a great addition during team fights. However, target prioritization becomes crucial. Sometimes it can get quite tricky making the right decision between damaging enemies and healing allies. Keep in mind that Dragonqueen's duration does not get affected by Cleansing Flame. Instead, Alexstrasza will descend back in Dragon Form for the remainder of its duration after Cleansing Flame expired .
The second big component of Cleansing Flame is mobility. The ability can be used to reposition Alexstrasza both defensively and offensively, depending on where your team needs you to land after the ability expires. Keep in mind that Alexstrasza will always descend on your mouse cursor's current location, so make sure to land her in a safe location.
Life-Binder is a potential lifesaver, making it a powerful Heroic Ability that also comes with a fair cooldown. What makes Life-Binder a very interesting choice is the fact that it can be used in two major ways. Firstly, it can be used to save an ally in need. Warriors and other frontliners are usually the easiest targets to use Life-Binder on, as they are exposed to a lot of damage. But also targets in the backline can be saved thanks to Life-Binder's good casting range. What is most important when using it this way is to keep Alexstrasza's own health high until the effect triggers.
Secondly, Life-Binder can be used to save Alexstrasza's own life. Make sure to use it on an unharmed allied Hero nearby in order to refill your own health.
7. Level 13 Talents for Alexstrasza
Gain 40 Armor while Stunned, Rooted, or Silenced, and for 2 seconds after. Can only trigger once every 10 seconds.
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
Activate to Slow and reduce an enemy Hero's damage by 50% for 3 seconds.
Healing a Stunned, Rooted, or Silenced ally reduces Pacify's cooldown by 30 seconds.
- Cooldown: 90 seconds
Activate to heal an allied Hero for 15% of their maximum Health and deal 200 (+4% per level) damage to nearby enemies.
Healing a Stunned, Rooted, or Silenced ally reduces Life Unbound's cooldown by 30 seconds.
Cannot be used on Alexstrasza.
Dragon Scales does not have the playmaking capabilities that both Pacify and Life Unbound possess. Healing a frontliner in need or crippling the damage of an engaging enemy Assassin is much more important than gaining a bit of bonus armor on Alexstrasza, who should normally always stay far back in the first place.
8. Level 16 Talents for Alexstrasza
While Alexstrasza is above 75% Health, Gift of Life grants its target 20 Armor for 2 seconds.
Heroes healed by Abundance gain a Shield for 3 seconds equal to 60% of the amount healed.
Increase Dragonqueen's duration by 7 seconds.
Tough Love is a perfect addition to Live and Let Live's cooldown reduction at Level 1. These talents combined will net a lot of value, especially while Alexstrasza stays above 75% of her maximum Health, which becomes a lot easier after acquiring Lifeblossom at Level 7.
Draconic Discipline is the overall safest talent to pick at Level 16, since it has virtually no downsides. The increased duration on Dragonqueen allows Alexstrasza to cast Preservation twice, which can turn longer fights in her favor.
Overprotective offers additional protection to Abundance. The shields it provides can block additional damage from the enemy team, which can make it particularly good against Heroes like Li-Ming or Genji who rely a lot on burst damage.
9. Level 20 Talents for Alexstrasza
Life-Binder activates 3 times over 6 seconds.
Healing or damaging Heroes 8 or more times with Cleansing Flame activates Dragonqueen for 15 seconds upon landing.
While Dragonqueen is active, Alexstrasza's Basic Attacks apply Flame Buffet, but her Attack Speed is reduced by 25%.
- Cooldown: 40 seconds
Activate to grant an allied Hero 500 bonus maximum Health until they die.
Cannot be used on Alexstrasza, or on a Hero who already has Blessing of the Red.
Ancient Flame is an amazing talent, especially if combined with Draconic Discipline at Level 16, which extends Alexstrasza's Dragonqueen duration and thus allows her to get additional empowered attacks in. The extra damage and crowd control Ancient Flame provides cannot be underestimated.
On Ruby Wings is another strong Level 20 talent if paired with Draconic Discipline at Level 16. Hitting 8 or more Heroes is usually an easy thing to do and as such, descending in Alexstrasza's Dragonqueen Form allows her to instantly provide strong damage and healing during the ensuing team fight.
Blessing of the Red provides 500 permanent bonus health for an allied Hero until they die, making them more resilient to enemy damage. There is no real downside to this talent, as it works well on already tanky frontliners to make them even tankier, or on squishy Assassins to make them harder to take down. As a rule of thumb, try to observe which Heroes in your team get focused most by the enemy team and prioritize them when casting Blessing of the Red.
Ritual of Life can be viable if Life-Binder was picked at Level 10. However, even then the talent usually lacks the overall team fighting presence Ancient Flame provides or the consistent protection that Blessing of the Red offers. That being said, the talent has its place, especially if you have high priority (and high health) Heroes in your team that need consecutive protection, such as Illidan or Cho'gall.
