Table of Contents

General Information

On this page, we explain everything that is specific to the Speed Farming variant of Vyr Archon Wizard. Updated for patch 2.6.1 and Season 12.

The other pages of our Vyr Archon Wizard guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

1. Speed Farming

The Vyr Archon Wizard can deal reasonably well with Normal Rift farming all the way through the highest Torment difficulties. The build variation suffers mostly from inferior damage to its Archon counterparts for the other sets.

Within the limited scope of regular difficulties, the necessary damage and toughness to triumph over the enemy is significantly smaller. Thus, your best course of action is to improve utility and speed.

Passive Skills

In the skill selection, you will accomplish that by:

  • Swapping the Teleport Teleport to the Wormhole Wormhole rune for a considerable mobility gain.
  • Since the protection of Orb of Infinite Depth Orb of Infinite Depth will not be necessary, you can switch Explosive Blast Explosive Blast for the generic damage increase of Familiar Familiar Sparkflint Sparkflint.
  • With the In-geom In-geom resets, your out-of-Archon time will be almost nonexistent, making the Magic Weapon Magic Weapon Conduit Conduit AP sustain unnecessary; swap to the DPS increase of the Force Weapon Force Weapon rune instead.
  • Unstable Anomaly Unstable Anomaly is less necessary in speed farming content, and can be shifted out for the mobility staple Illusionist Illusionist instead.

3. Adapting Gear

Once you comfortably outscale your opponents, you can consider switching away from the Endless Walk set and Krelm's Buff Bracers Krelm's Buff Bracers, as that entire setup will be too slow if you are smashing the difficulty. The suggested ring alternative is Avarice Band Avarice Band for its Boon of the Hoarder Boon of the Hoarder synergy, speeding up your clear speed immensely and feeding you infinite gold. You can complete the speedrunning jewelry with any well rolled amulet, the high-end luxury option being a Hellfire Amulet of Intelligence Hellfire Amulet of Intelligence with a synergistic fifth passive like Glass Cannon Glass Cannon. Krelm's Buff Bracers Krelm's Buff Bracers should be replaced by Nemesis Bracers Nemesis Bracers, cutting down clear times by spawning you additional elites at shrines and pylons.

The oldschool Chantodo set combo is also more attractive than the progression-oriented Pig Sticker Pig Sticker and Orb of Infinite Depth Orb of Infinite Depth, since their AoE damage proc will pulse its destructive powers in conjunction with your near-permanent Archon Archon form.

4. Adapting Gemming

In Torments Taeguk Taeguk will be too demanding to keep up, and is best replaced by a speed run oriented gem like Boon of the Hoarder Boon of the Hoarder. The gem nets you an average of 20-30 million gold per run, with no particular focus on Gold Find stats, and it gives you a massive short-term speed boost while picking up gold. With the use of Avarice Band Avarice Band and its massive Pickup Radius bonuses, this will be done automatically, allowing you to focus on the clear.

5. Adapting Kanai's Cube

With Deathwish Deathwish's damage being overkill in lower difficulty content, In-geom In-geom gets to shine by reducing 10 seconds flat off the cooldown of all of your skills after you burst an elite. In a normal rift, the 15-second duration of the effect is plenty of time to find a new elite and refresh the In-geom In-geom bonus. This will allow you to chain Archon Archon with very minimal downtime.
