2. Common Talent Paths

2.1. Unfair Advantage Build (talent calculator link)

Level 1 Natural Perspective Icon
Level 4 Nimble Wisp Icon
Level 7 Splintered Spear Icon Nature's Culling Icon ?
Level 10 Leaping Strike Icon
Level 13 Unfair Advantage Icon
Level 16 Star Wood Spear Icon Invigorating Spores Icon ?
Level 20 Galloping Gait Icon Boundless Stride Icon ?

The Unfair Advantage Build is our go-to build and will give you great value in most games. While both of Lunara's Heroic Abilities are viable, we definitely recommend going Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike with this build, as its Movement Speed Slow has built-in synergy with one of the key talents, Unfair Advantage Icon Unfair Advantage at Level 13. At Level 16, Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear can sometimes be replaced by Invigorating Spores Icon Invigorating Spores, especially if you feel like you can get away playing more aggressively without getting punished.

2.2. Poke Build (talent calculator link)

Level 1 Natural Perspective Icon
Level 4 Nimble Wisp Icon
Level 7 Splintered Spear Icon Nature's Culling Icon ?
Level 10 Thornwood Vine Icon Leaping Strike Icon ?
Level 13 Unfair Advantage Icon Giant Killer Icon ?
Level 16 Star Wood Spear Icon
Level 20 Forest's Wrath Icon Galloping Gait Icon ?

The Poke Build is a safe choice against team compositions that feature several ranged Assassins and/or slow Warriors like Arthas or Johanna who cannot really close in on Lunara that easily. As such, Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine becomes a natural choice at Level 10, however, Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike still remains a good ability. In the late game, Forest's Wrath Icon Forest's Wrath provides Lunara with even more long distance damage, however, we can also recommend Galloping Gait Icon Galloping Gait for faster rotations and combat maneuverability.

3. Level 1 Talents

Lunara Blossom Swell
Blossom Swell (Level 1) World of Warcraft Lunara

Increases Noxious Blossom's radius by 20%..

Lunara Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis (Level 1) World of Warcraft Lunara

Crippling Spores returns 10 Mana per enemy hit, up to 40 Mana.

Lunara Natural Perspective
Natural Perspective (Level 1) World of Warcraft Lunara

Nature's Toxin reveals enemies for its duration.

Lunara Cruel Spores
Cruel Spores (Level 1) World of Warcraft Lunara

When Crippling Spores hits only Minions or Mercenaries, its cooldown is reduced by 80% and 20 Mana is restored.

3.1. Discussion

Natural Perspective Icon Natural Perspective is a very useful talent, which allows you to follow the enemy team's movements and warns you in time, should enemies try to engage on you. Keep in mind that it also makes landing skillshots for your allies a lot easier, since the vision from Natural Perspective enables them predict the movement paths of their targets.

Cruel Spores Icon Cruel Spores is designed to provide Lunara with more waveclear, however, Lunara's innate abilities already deal enough PvE, which causes this talent to perform rather unspectacularly.

Blossom Swell Icon Blossom Swell increases the radius of Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom by 20%, which is too little to make a noteworthy difference. Thus, it cannot compete against the utility coming from Natural Perspective Icon Natural Perspective.

Photosynthesis Icon Photosynthesis is not a recommended talent for the mere fact that Lunara usually does not suffer from Mana issues due to the low Mana costs of her abilities.

4. Level 4 Talents

Lunara Nimble Wisp
Nimble Wisp (Level 4) World of Warcraft Lunara

Increases Wisp Movement Speed by 100% and vision radius by 50%.

Lunara Timelost Wisp
Timelost Wisp (Level 4) World of Warcraft Lunara

Wisp costs no Mana and its cooldown recharges 125% faster while no Wisp is active.

Lunara Skybound Wisp
Skybound Wisp (Level 4) World of Warcraft Lunara

Wisp can see over obstacles and reveals the area for 4 seconds after dying.

Lunara Dividing Wisp
Dividing Wisp (Level 4) World of Warcraft Lunara

The first time a Wisp is relocated, it leaves a copy of itself in the previous location.

4.1. Discussion

Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp balances out the Wisp Icon Wisp's biggest weakness, which is its slow movement speed. Furthermore, it adds 50% more vision to it, making it one of the strongest scouting abilities in the game.

Timelost Wisp Icon Timelost Wisp does not add any significant improvements to Wisp Icon Wisp. Compared to Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp, the slower movement speed and the smaller vision radius make it an inferior scouting tool, despite having a lower cooldown.

Skybound Wisp Icon Skybound Wisp is not a bad talent per se, however, it is more susceptible to being discovered and destroyed than Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp due to its slow movement speed. However, if the enemy team features one or more stealthed Heroes, Skybound Wisp's reveal effect can be useful.

Dividing Wisp Icon Dividing Wisp cannot keep up with the scouting information Nimble Wisp Icon Nimble Wisp provides. It travels significantly slower and thus gets spotted and destroyed more easily.

5. Level 7 Talents

Lunara Siphoning Toxin
Siphoning Toxin (Level 7) World of Warcraft Lunara

As long as Nature's Toxin is active on an enemy, heal 18 (+4% per level) Health a second.

Lunara Wild Vigor
Wild Vigor (Level 7) World of Warcraft Lunara

Using Crippling Spores increases the damage of Lunara's next 4 Basic Attacks by 50%.

Lunara Splintered Spear
Splintered Spear (Level 7) World of Warcraft Lunara

Using Noxious Blossom causes Lunara's next Basic Attack to hit up to 4 enemies. These extra attacks can apply Nature's Toxin.

Lunara Nature's Culling
Nature's Culling (Level 7) World of Warcraft Lunara

Increases Nature's Toxin's damage by 150% to non-Heroes.

5.1. Discussion

Splintered Spear Icon Splintered Spear is a useful tool to spread Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin on several enemies at the same time. This talent can have outstanding synergy with Unfair Advantage Icon Unfair Advantage at Level 13.

Nature's Culling Icon Nature's Culling is good when clearing Minion waves in order to relieve lane pressure. By the same token, it causes Lunara to deal a significant amount of extra damage against enemy Structures, which makes her a very strong pusher.

Siphoning Toxin Icon Siphoning Toxin is only recommended in Quick Match when your team does not have any Supports. In competitive play, however, there is no place for this talent, since the healing it provides is too little to be worth mentioning.

Wild Vigor Icon Wild Vigor usually performs worse than Splintered Spear Icon Splintered Spear in terms of actual damage increase. While Wild Vigor only adds a bit of additional single target damage, Splintered Spear provides crippling AoE damage with strong damage amplification if used with Unfair Advantage Icon Unfair Advantage at Level 13.

6. Level 10 Talents

Lunara Thornwood Vine
Thornwood Vine (Level 10) World of Warcraft Lunara
  • Mana: 35
  • Charges: 3
  • Recharge Time: 15 seconds

Send forth vines that deal 164 (+4% per level) damage to all enemies in a line.

Stores up to 3 charges.

Lunara Leaping Strike
Leaping Strike (Level 10) World of Warcraft Lunara
  • Mana: 50
  • Charges: 2
  • Recharge Time: 20 seconds

Leap over an enemy, slowing them by 80% for 0.35 seconds and dealing 271 (+4% per level) damage.

Stores up to 2 charges.

At this level, Heroic Abilities become available. Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine and Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike have already been described in the Abilities section.

6.1. Discussion

Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine is a strong poking ability, which allows Lunara to spread Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin from a safe distance. Due to its large casting range, Thornwood Vine enables Lunara to outmatch most other ranged Assassins. If you notice that the enemy team composition consists mainly of ranged Heroes, we generally recommend this Heroic Ability over Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike.

While not team fighting, Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine is also a great ability to clear Minion waves very quickly. However, always track the number of charges and make sure to have at least 1 charge ready before major team fights.

Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike adds a lot of mobility to Lunara's kit, which allows her to escape dangerous situations more quickly. Thus, it is our prefered choice when playing against engage-heavy team compositions featuring multiple Warriors and melee Assassins.

It is quite important to carefully observe the enemy team's position before using Leaping Strike Icon Leaping Strike. Do not use Leaping Strike if it would position yourself close to the rest of the enemy team. Instead, use it as an escape mechanism or to finish off retreating enemies.

7. Level 13 Talents

Lunara Pestering Blossom
Pestering Blossom (Level 13) World of Warcraft Lunara

Increases Noxious Blossom's range by 50%.

Lunara Unfair Advantage
Unfair Advantage (Level 13) World of Warcraft Lunara

Nature's Toxin deals 50% more damage to Heroes that are slowed.

Lunara Giant Killer
Giant Killer (Level 13) World of Warcraft Lunara

Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes deal bonus damage equal to 1.5% of the Hero's maximum Health.

Lunara Greater Spell Shield ?
Greater Spell Shield (Level 13) World of Warcraft Lunara

Every 30 seconds, gain 75 Spell Armor against the next enemy Ability and subsequent Abilities for 3 seconds, reducing the damage taken by 75%.

Can be toggled to allow or prevent this talent from triggering automatically.

7.1. Discussion

Unfair Advantage Icon Unfair Advantage is a quite reliable talent, since Lunara's Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores can be manually activated to slow enemy targets, which would then cause them to take increased damage from her Nature's Toxin Icon Nature's Toxin.

Giant Killer Icon Giant Killer causes Lunara's Basic Attacks, especially if empowered by talents like Invigorating Spores Icon Invigorating Spores or Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear, to deal increased damage. Due to the fact that it scales with maximum health percentage, it is particularly strong against high health Warriors.

Greater Spell Shield Icon Greater Spell Shield is an incredibly useful talent if the enemy team has a lot of ability damage at their disposal. Greater Spell Shield can reduce the damage potential of Heroes like Jaina or Chromie significantly, so make sure to carefully analyse the enemy team's composition.

Pestering Blossom Icon Pestering Blossom is an unnecessary talent, since the initial casting range of Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom is already good enough. Compared to the alternative talent choices at Level 13, Pestering Blossom has by far the least impact on Lunara's combat performance and consequently should be ignored.

8. Level 16 Talents

Lunara Choking Pollen ?
Choking Pollen (Level 16) World of Warcraft Lunara

Increases Noxious Blossom damage by 125% against enemies afflicted with Nature's Toxin.

Lunara Star Wood Spear
Star Wood Spear (Level 16) World of Warcraft Lunara

Using Crippling Spores increases Lunara's Basic Attack range by 2.75 for 6 seconds.

Lunara Invigorating Spores
Invigorating Spores (Level 16) World of Warcraft Lunara

Using Crippling Spores increases Lunara's Attack Speed by 50% for 6 seconds.

Lunara Let Them Wither
Let Them Wither (Level 16) World of Warcraft Lunara

Increases Crippling Spores' slow to 50% and causes it to no longer decay.

8.1. Discussion

Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear allows Lunara to attack from a large distance. This prevents her from exposing herself to the enemy team, which is very important for squishy ranged Assassins in general.

Invigorating Spores Icon Invigorating Spores causes Lunara to attack faster, which increases her damage, especially if combined with talents like Giant Killer Icon Giant Killer at Level 13. We recommend this talent if the enemy team does not have any high mobility Heroes that can threaten Lunara.

Choking Pollen Icon Choking Pollen requires you to land your Noxious Blossom Icon Noxious Blossom in order to benefit from its bonus damage. Consequently, it depends on your aim, which makes it a hit or miss talent, whereas Star Wood Spear Icon Star Wood Spear is much more reliable.

Let Them Wither Icon Let Them Wither is not a recommended talent at this tier, since Crippling Spores Icon Crippling Spores' innate movement speed slow of 40% is already sufficient to catch up to retreating targets.

9. Level 20 Talents

Lunara Forest's Wrath
Forest's Wrath (Level 20) World of Warcraft Lunara

Increases Thornwood Vine's range by 30%, its speed by 20%, and Lunara's vision radius by 35%.

Lunara Boundless Stride
Boundless Stride (Level 20) World of Warcraft Lunara

All Leaping Strike charges are returned every 20 seconds. Leaping Strike can be used on allies.

Lunara Galloping Gait
Galloping Gait (Level 20) World of Warcraft Lunara

Activate to increase the Movement Speed bonus of Dryad's Swiftness to 80% for 6 seconds.

Lunara Abolish Magic ?
Abolish Magic (Level 20) World of Warcraft Lunara
  • Cooldown: 35 seconds

Target an Ally to remove all damage over time and disabling effects from them and Lunara. For 2 seconds after, the duration of disabling effects is reduced by 50%.

9.1. Discussion

Forest's Wrath Icon Forest's Wrath can only be taken if you went for Thornwood Vine Icon Thornwood Vine at Level 10. However, if you chose Thornwood Vine, the benefits coming from this talent are too important to be ignored. The increased travelling speed and range allows you to cast Thornwood Vine more precisely, while the increased vision radius allows you to spot enemies earlier.

Boundless Stride Icon Boundless Stride provides Lunara with a reliable source of extra mobility, which can be a valuable asset against mobile Assassins like Illidan or Genji. If Unfair Advantage Icon Unfair Advantage was taken at Level 13, Boundless Stride can proc its extra damage even more frequently.

Galloping Gait Icon Galloping Gait adds an incredible amount of mobility to Lunara's kit. 80% movement speed increase allows her to outrun every Hero in the game, which can be used offensively and defensively. Against teams with several Warriors and melee Assassins, in particular, this talent allows Lunara to survive on the battlefield and keep a healthy distance to enemy initiators.

Abolish Magic Icon Abolish Magic can be a very useful talent if the enemy team is heavy on crowd controls, such as stuns, slows, and roots. Furthermore, it also counters damage over time abilities like Kael'thas' Living Bomb Icon Living Bomb, which can be crucial to save an ally's life.
