2. Common Talent Paths

2.1. Emerald Wind Build (talent calculator link)

The Emerald Wind Build emphasizes Brightwing's strong disengage potential, which makes it a strong choice against team compositions that focus on hard engage to threaten your backline. Ice Block Icon Ice Block is a crucial defensive talent to pick up at Level 13, since casting Emerald Wind Icon Emerald Wind often causes her to get close to the enemy team.

2.2. Pixie Dust Build (talent calculator link)

The Pixie Dust Build focuses on providing strong burst damage protection against both Abilities and Basic Attacks (after acquiring Shield Dust Icon Shield Dust at Level 13). Since Brightwing's talent tree is very competitive, it is very important to adjust accordingly. At Level 7, for instance, Cleanse Icon Cleanse could be replaced by Mistified Icon Mistified if the enemy team lacked crowd control.

3. Level 1 Talents

Brightwing Dream Shot
Dream Shot (Level 1) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Increase the range of Arcane Flare by 50%. If an enemy Hero is hit by the inner radius, reduce it's cooldown to 1 second.

Brightwing Hyper Shift
Hyper Shift (Level 1) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Each allied Hero healed by Soothing Mist reduces the cooldown of Phase Shift by 3 seconds.

Brightwing Pixie Charm ?
Pixie Charm (Level 1) World of Warcraft Brightwing
  • Cooldown: 0 seconds

Each time Brightwing heals an Allied Hero with Soothing Mist, she gains a stack of Bribe. Use 20 stacks to bribe a Mercenary, instantly defeating them. Does not work on Bosses. Maximum of 80 stacks.

3.1. Discussion

Dream Shot Icon Dream Shot is a strong choice. Despite being a rather offensive talent, it possesses very good synergy with Mistified Icon Mistified, which benefits from having low cooldowns on your Basic Abilities. This allows Brightwing to harm her enemies while at the same time healing and protecting her allies.

Hyper Shift Icon Hyper Shift allows Brightwing to teleport across the map a lot more frequently if she heals herself or her allies with Soothing Mist Icon Soothing Mist. This proves to be especially useful on larger maps like Cursed Hollow or Garden of Terror, as Brightwing is able to split-push more efficiently if she has her teleport available allowing her to assist her teammates if need be. This talent has great synergy with Mistified Icon Mistified at Level 7, which will reduce Soothing Mist's cooldown every time Brightwing uses one of her Basic Abilities.

Pixie Charm Icon Pixie Charm is a must-have on Hanamura and Volskaya Foundry. The ability to quickly bribe the Cyber Samurai Camp and obtain the Healing Pulse can give your team the upper hand during team fights. It can also be very useful on larger maps, like Cursed Hollow or Garden of Terror, that offer several neutral Mercenary Camps.

4. Level 4 Talents

Brightwing Unstable Anomaly
Unstable Anomaly (Level 4) World of Warcraft Brightwing

When Polymorph ends, deal 114 (+4% per level) damage to the target and all nearby enemies.

Brightwing Manic Pixie
Manic Pixie (Level 4) World of Warcraft Brightwing

When Soothing Mist heals an ally with Pixie Dust on them, they heal for an additional 104 (+4% per level) over 4 seconds.

Brightwing Peekaboo!
Peekaboo! (Level 4) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Phase Shifting to an ally casts a free Pixie Dust on them and reveals a large area around them and all enemies in it for 6 seconds.

4.1. Discussion

Unstable Anomaly Icon Unstable Anomaly has the potential to secure kills on retreating enemies that would not have been possible otherwise. Additionally, the enemy Hero that got Polymorph Icon Polymorphed by Brightwing, is usually the priority target as well which is why Unstable Anomaly does a decent job at assisting your team's AoE damage.

Manic Pixie Icon Manic Pixie is a somewhat unreliable yet powerful talent, as it increases Soothing Mist Icon Soothing Mist's range significantly. All in all, the potential of providing allies with an additional heal is something that can add a lot to Brightwing's overall power level (especially before reaching Level 10) which is why we recommend choosing this talent if you are an experienced Brightwing player.

Peekaboo! Icon Peekaboo! works very well if you chose Hyper Shift Icon Hyper Shift at Level 1. Being able to reveal cloaked enemies like Nova or Zeratul in a large radius around your selected ally can thwart the enemy team's plans of initiating a team fight and turn the momentum in your favour. The additional instance of Pixie Dust Icon Pixie Dust applied on the target is the icing on the cake that makes this talent a very solid choice.

5. Level 7 Talents

Brightwing Mistified
Mistified (Level 7) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Reduces the cooldown of Soothing Mist by 0.5 seconds every time Brightwing casts a Basic Ability.

Brightwing Phase Shield
Phase Shield (Level 7) World of Warcraft Brightwing

After finishing the teleport, both Brightwing and her target gain a 400 (+4% per level) point Shield for 10 seconds.

Brightwing Cleanse
Cleanse (Level 7) World of Warcraft Brightwing
  • Cooldown: 60 seconds

Activate to make target ally Unstoppable for 1 second. Cannot be cast on yourself.

5.1. Discussion

Mistified Icon Mistified increases Brightwing's healing output significantly during team fights. Brightwing's lack of early game burst heal before Level 10 makes Mistified an essential talent, especially on maps like Battlefield of Eternity or Cursed Hollow, which force extensive skirmishes out of both teams in order to secure control of Map Objectives. Keep in mind that Mistified also has strong synergy with Hyper Shift Icon Hyper Shift, as both talents mutually benefit from each other.

Phase Shield Icon Phase Shield can be chosen if you have a fragile carry, such as Illidan or Genji, in your team that needs special protection. Furthermore, it is a solid talent to pick if your team features a double Support composition and the second Support already has Cleanse Icon Cleanse available. If you are the only Support in your team however, Phase Shield cannot keep up with the utility that Mistified Icon Mistified or Cleanse Icon Cleanse provide you with.

Cleanse Icon Cleanse is a strong talent on Brightwing, although she loses a lot of her healing potential if she decides to neglect Mistified Icon Mistified. However, cleansing allied Heroes who are impaired by enemy crowd control effects can sometimes prove to be more efficient than restoring parts of their health. If you notice that the enemy team composition relies heavily on stuns, roots, or slows, Cleanse can completely thwart their plans. Keep in mind that Cleanse can be used preemptively as well, in order to make allied targets temporarily immune to imminent crowd control effects. Simply use Cleanse shortly before abilities like Tyrael's Judgment Icon Judgment or Malfurion's Entangling Roots Icon Entangling Roots are about to hit your teammates to negate the respective crowd control effect.

6. Level 10 Talents

Brightwing Blink Heal
Blink Heal (Level 10) World of Warcraft Brightwing
  • Mana: 40
  • Charges: 2
  • Recharge Time: 9 seconds

Teleport to a nearby ally, healing them for 204 (+4% per level).

Stores up to 2 charges.

Brightwing Emerald Wind
Emerald Wind (Level 10) World of Warcraft Brightwing
  • Mana: 90
  • Cooldown: 60 seconds

After 0.5 seconds, create an expanding nova of wind, dealing 319 (+4% per level) damage and pushing enemies away.

Passive: Increases the healing of Soothing Mist by 8%.

6.1. Discussion

Blink Heal Icon Blink Heal enables Brightwing to teleport to allies over short distances, which allows her to manoeuvre both defensively and offensively during team fights. Dodging enemy Basic Attacks or skill-shot abilities like Muradin's Storm Bolt Icon Storm Bolt or Stitches' Hook Icon Hook with the help of Blink Heal allows your team to turn on the enemy without worrying about the respective crowd control effects. By the same token, Brightwing is able to use Blink Heal as a gap-closing ability by using it on an allied unit to get in range of an enemy and cast an unexpected Polymorph Icon Polymorph on them.

Blink Heal turns Brightwing into an unpredictable Hero, who is able to pull off surprising moves and play with her opponents' minds. In order to use Blink Heal efficiently during team fights, we advise you to never stay in one place for too long. Instead, try to capitalise on your enemies' inability to keep up with your speed. Drawing the attention of your opponents to you, only to blink out of harm's way, can significantly affect the enemy team's ability to focus the right targets, and thus significantly increase the performance of your own Assassins during longer engagements.

Brightwing's second Heroic Ability, Emerald Wind Icon Emerald Wind, is a very effective, yet situational choice that needs to be used with great caution. There are several requirements that need to be met before you should decide to pick Emerald Wind instead of Blink Heal Icon Blink Heal. Firstly, you should consider if you need a strong disengage ability to counter enemy initiators like Tyrael or Anub'arak. If the opposing team consists of at least two or more aggressive Warriors, Emerald Wind may indeed become a useful tool to keep them at bay. Secondly, you need to double-check whether your team has another Supporter in its lineup. Heroes like Tassadar or Tyrande can greatly assist Brightwing in keeping her teammates alive, which makes Emerald Wind a valid alternative to Blink Heal if there is an additional healer at your team's disposal.

Keep in mind that Emerald Wind's passive effect increases Soothing Mist Icon Soothing Mist's healing by 8%, which is why you should always make sure to stay as close in order to heal as many of them as possible.

7. Level 13 Talents

Brightwing Sticky Flare ?
Sticky Flare (Level 13) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Enemies hit by Arcane Flare have their Movement Speed slowed by 40% for 2 seconds.

Brightwing Pixie Boost
Pixie Boost (Level 13) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Pixie Dust gives 50% bonus Move Speed, decaying to 20% over 1.5 seconds.

Brightwing Shield Dust
Shield Dust (Level 13) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Pixie Dust grants 50 Physical Armor for 3 seconds, reducing Physical damage taken by 50%.

Brightwing Ice Block
Ice Block (Level 13) World of Warcraft Brightwing
  • Cooldown: 0 seconds

Activate to place yourself in Stasis and gain Invulnerability for 3 seconds.

7.1. Discussion

Shield Dust Icon Shield Dust is a strong talent against enemy team compositions that rely on Basic Attack Heroes such as Valla or Illidan.

Ice Block Icon Ice Block provides great protection if Brightwing becomes the main focus of the enemy team. Brightwing can activate Ice Block to become untargetable and invulnerable for 3 seconds, while Soothing Mist Icon Soothing Mist still continues to heal nearby teammates. This talent works exceptionally well if combined with Emerald Wind Icon Emerald Wind, as it requires you to get close to the enemy team.

Sticky Flare Icon Sticky Flare should mainly be considered if your team is lacking crowd control in general. Unlike other talents related to Arcane Flare Icon Arcane Flare, Sticky Flare's slow effect is a useful tool that allows you to slow several enemies at the same time, which can aid you in many different situations.

Pixie Boost Icon Pixie Boost provides an additional movement speed buff to the target of Brightwing's Pixie Dust Icon Pixie Dust ability. This does look tempting at first, however, it cannot provide the same impact as Shield Dust Icon Shield Dust.

8. Level 16 Talents

Brightwing Greater Polymorph ?
Greater Polymorph (Level 16) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Increases the duration of Polymorph by 0.75 seconds.

Brightwing Critterize
Critterize (Level 16) World of Warcraft Brightwing

While Polymorphed, the target's Armor is reduced by 25, increasing the damage they take by 25%.

Brightwing Bouncy Dust
Bouncy Dust (Level 16) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Pixie Dust bounces to another nearby ally upon impact.

Brightwing Hardened Focus
Hardened Focus (Level 16) World of Warcraft Brightwing

While above 80% life, your Basic Ability cooldowns regenerate 50% faster.

8.1. Discussion

Critterize Icon Critterize enables Brightwing's Polymorph Icon Polymorph ability to increase all damage done to a single enemy Hero by 25%, which will allow your team to burst it down very quickly. Do not hesitate to make use of Critterize against engaging Warriors like Tyrael or E.T.C. to bring them down more quickly.

Bouncy Dust Icon Bouncy Dust is a great talent, especially if you chose Manic Pixie Icon Manic Pixie at Level 4 and Shield Dust Icon Shield Dust at Level 13, as all of the previous buffs will be applied to the second target as well.

Greater Polymorph Icon Greater Polymorph could be considered if the enemy team composition runs dangerous melee Assassins like Illidan or The Butcher that need to be shut down for as long as possible. Extending Polymorph Icon Polymorph's duration by 1 second will greatly help negating their damage potential.

Hardened Focus Icon Hardened Focus is not a recommended talent, since Brightwing's innate cooldowns are already fairly low. Thus, focusing on additional protection by Bouncy Dust Icon Bouncy Dust or increased takedown potential by either of the Polymorph Icon Polymorph talents gains much more value.

9. Level 20 Talents

Brightwing Double Wyrmhole
Double Wyrmhole (Level 20) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Blink Heal can be cast a second time on a different target within 2 seconds without consuming a charge.

Brightwing Continuous Winds ?
Continuous Winds (Level 20) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Emerald Wind releases two additional novas that deal 25% damage. Also further increases the healing bonus of Soothing Mist by 7%.

Brightwing Revitalizing Mist
Revitalizing Mist (Level 20) World of Warcraft Brightwing

Healing another Hero with Soothing Mist increases their healing received from Soothing Mist by 25% for 6 seconds. Stacks 3 times.

Brightwing Storm Shield
Storm Shield (Level 20) World of Warcraft Brightwing
  • Cooldown: 45 seconds

Activate to give all nearby allied Heroes a Shield for 20% of their max Health for 3 seconds.

9.1. Discussion

Revitalizing Mist Icon Revitalizing Mist greatly increases the power of Soothing Mist Icon Soothing Mist if Brightwing manages to continously heal the same allies withing 6 seconds. However, this short time frame is also a big disadvantage, especially if she uses Blink Heal Icon Blink Heal to quickly reposition herself in order to assist allies in need.

Storm Shield Icon Storm Shield is an incredibly strong defensive talent. It can be put to great use on Brightwing as well, as Blink Heal Icon Blink Heal enables her to quickly reposition herself next to allies needing additional protection. Storm Shield allows you to sustain ongoing pushes and sieges, and is a great tool to stop enemy AoE burst damage, especially from spell-dependant Assassins like Jaina or Kael'thas.

Continuous Winds Icon Continuous Winds should be taken if you decided to go for Emerald Wind Icon Emerald Wind at Level 10 and need further disengage. Furthermore, the damage done by each gust of wind is surprisingly high, which is why Continuous Wind can catch the enemy team by surprise and provide your team with a lot of momentum during a team fight.

Double Wyrmhole Icon Double Wyrmhole provides additional mobility and healing which sounds tempting at first. However, the other supportive Level 20 usually provide more impactful team fight healing than Double Wyrmhole. Storm Shield Icon Storm Shield grants better burst protection, while possesses incredible sustained healing, especially if combined with Emerald Wind Icon Emerald Wind.
