Yrel's Talent Build Cheatsheet
Vindication Build
RecommendedYrel's Vindication Build provides a good balance
of survivability, damage, and utility. While playing this Build,
you should generally use
Divine Purpose
right before casting
Vindication.
Righteous Hammer Build
AdvancedYrel's Righteous Hammer Build provides a good balance
of survivability, damage, and utility. While playing this Build,
you should generally use
Divine Purpose
right before casting
Righteous Hammer.
Avenging Wrath Build
SituationalYrel's Avenging Wrath Build provides a good balance
of survivability, damage, and utility. While playing this Build,
you should generally use
Divine Purpose
right before casting
Avenging Wrath.
ARAM Build
ARAMYrel's ARAM Build provides a good balance
of survivability, damage, and utility. While playing this Build,
you should generally use
Divine Purpose
right before casting
Vindication.
Level 1 Talents for Yrel
Increase Vindication's radius by 15%. Hitting an enemy Hero increases Vindication's healing by 45%. If more than one Hero is hit, the bonus is increased to 90%.
Light of Karabor is a good Talent that passively increases the area
covered by
Vindication and increases its healing done when hitting
enemy Heroes with it, making it easier to hit and more effective. While this effect works
even when not fully charging
Vindication, it gives way more value
when fully charging it.
The additional healing increases your self-sustain
while laning and your survivability in team fights. In order to get more value
from it, you should ideally fully-charge
Vindication
and hit 2 enemy Heroes with it.
The additional range makes it easier to hit multiple enemy Heroes
with
Vindication, which is great if you intend
to pick
Aldor Peacekeeper at Level 13 later on.
When playing against Heroes with multiple bodies (notably Rexxar), it will be generally easier to get full value from this Talent. That said, experienced opponents will probably see your Talent choice and play around it.
Casting a Basic Ability grants Yrel 35 Physical Armor for 2.5 seconds.
Dauntless is a good Talent which temporarily provides
Physical Armor whenever you cast a Basic Ability,
greatly reducing the damage taken from all enemy Heroes that are focusing you.
When having this Talent, you should generally prefer to cast your Basic Abilities
spread out from each other rather than spamming them in quick succession.
The buff lasts 2.5 seconds. So, if you cast a Basic Ability every 2.5 seconds,
Dauntless will have 100% uptime.
After damaging an enemy Hero with a Basic Ability, Yrel's next Basic Attack heals her for 160 (+4% per level).
Maraad's Insight is a situational Talent that, when hitting
enemy Heroes with Basic Abilities, causes the next Basic Attack to heal Yrel for
a moderate amount.
We find this Talent only useful while laning against Heroes who do not
struggle against
Dauntless (notably Malthael)
or when you need more self-sustain while laning.
Level 4 Talents for Yrel
Upon landing, Avenging Wrath grants other nearby allied Heroes 40 Armor for 5 seconds.
Aegis of Light is a good Talent that allows you
to protect allied Heroes by providing them Armor for
a few second upon landing on them with
Avenging Wrath.
This effect does not work on Yrel. This effect works
even when not fully charging
Avenging Wrath.
Since this Talent requires to cast
Avenging Wrath on allied Heroes,
you should not pick it with
Holy Avenger at Level 7 because
that Talent requires to cast
Avenging Wrath on enemy Heroes.
We find this Talent particularly good when playing with a hypercarry (such as Sgt. Hammer) or Healer (for example Whitemane) that needs protection from dive.
Divine Purpose heals the lowest Health nearby allied Hero other than Yrel for 275 (+4% per level).
Gift of the Naaru is a good Talent that allows you
to heal nearby Heroes when activating
Divine Purpose.
The healing prioritizes the allied Hero in rage with the lowest amount of Health.
This effect does not work on Yrel.
We find this Talent useful when playing in the 4-man or in ARAM even if your team already has a Healer, when playing as a 2-man in the offlane with Heroes who do not have any way to heal allied Heroes (notably Zarya), or when your team does not have a Healer at all.
You can combine this Talent with
Divine Favor
at Level 16 to increase your healing output by reducing the cooldown of
Divine Purpose when casting Basic Abilities.
- Cooldown: 40 seconds
Grant an allied Hero 25% Movement Speed for 3 seconds and remove all Slows and Roots from them.
Hand of Freedom is a good Talent that, once activated,
it removes all Roots and Slows from
the target allied Hero and provides a considerable amount of Movement Speed
for a few seconds. This effect works on Yrel too.
Even if there are no debuffs to remove with it, you can still make use of the Movement Speed buff for chasing or running away. You can even self-cast it right before channeling a Basic Ability as a way to counterbalance Yrel's own Movement Speed reduction.
When playing against Stukov, you can use it
to remove his Slow. This will also remove
his
Weighted Pustule from the target,
preventing a
Bio-Kill Switch detonation.
When playing against Malfurion, you can use it
to remove his Root.
If he has
Emerald Dreams at Level 1,
this will also prevent Sleep to go off.
Level 7 Talents for Yrel
Gain 5% Movement Speed. Yrel is no longer Slowed while Channeling Righteous Hammer, and instead this bonus is quadrupled.
Righteous Momentum is a good Talent that permanently increases
Yrel's Movement Speed by a small amount and further increases Yrel's Movement Speed
while channeling
Righteous Hammer.
The best part of this Talent is that you will no longer need to activate
Divine Purpose before casting
Righteous Hammer
for it to be threatening, except when they can interrupt it.
If you find a good flank with it, you will be able to
Stun and push towards your team more
enemy Heroes with
Righteous Hammer.
You should pick this Talent when going for a Build that requires you to use
Divine Purpose on either
Vindication
or
Avenging Wrath for instantly fully-charging them.
Hitting an enemy Hero with Avenging Wrath at maximum charge deals 25% more damage and reduces its cooldown to 1 second.
Holy Avenger is a situational Talent that drastically increases
your damage output when the enemy team cannot counter
Avenging Wrath. When fully charged, it increases its damage
and effectively resets its cooldown every time you hit an enemy Hero with it.
You can combine this Talent with
Divine Favor
at Level 16 to increase your damage output by reducing the cooldown of
Divine Purpose when casting Basic Abilities.
Since this Talent requires to cast
Avenging Wrath on enemy Heroes,
you should not pick it with
Aegis of Light at Level 4 because
that Talent requires to cast
Avenging Wrath on allied Heroes.
Mounting is instant and grants 60% Movement Speed that decays over 3 seconds.
Divine Steed is a good Talent that allows Yrel to instantly
Mount and gain a brief Movement Speed boost. You still need to have your Mount not
on cooldown for using this effect and your Mount will go on cooldown when dismounted.
Thanks to this Talent, Yrel can get out of many dangerous situations,
reposition in team fights, or chase enemy Heroes.
If you find a good flank with it, you will be able to
Stun and push towards your team more
enemy Heroes with
Righteous Hammer.
Level 10 Talents for Yrel
In this section we discuss when and why to pick a given Heroic Ability. If you want to read how they work in detail and/or you are looking for some tips on how to use them, check them out on the Abilities and Strategy page.
- Mana: 80
- Cooldown: 120 seconds
Surround Yrel in a barrier for 3 seconds, absorbing all damage taken and healing her for 50% of the damage received.
Ardent Defender is a strong Heroic Ability that,
when activated, protects Yrel with an Absorb effect
for a few seconds. All damage taken during that time is negated and immediately
converted into healing, drastically increasing Yrel's survivability.
We recommend picking this Heroic Ability because it allows you to play more aggressively when available. In team fights, you can go deeper into the enemy backline with it when needed. While laning, you can put more pressure on the enemy team and still survive ganks. Remember to play safer when it is on cooldown.
- Cooldown: 25 seconds
Yrel sanctifies the ground around her, gaining 50 Armor until she leaves the area.
Sacred Ground is a good Heroic Ability that,
when activated, creates a sanctified area under Yrel's feet. Yrel gains
Armor while standing in it. The sanctified area
disappears when Yrel moves out of it.
If you plan to pick
Sacred Ground later on,
avoid picking
Dauntless at Level 1 because
the Armor buffs they provide do not stack with
each other. As such, they will never be both active at the same time.
Since its effect is stationary, we recommend picking this Heroic Ability only when playing on a Map where controlling a Capture Point is important (only Braxis Holdout and Dragon Shire).
Since its effect expires when Yrel leaves the area, you should avoid picking it against Heroes who have access to Knockback effects, especially if they have a lower cooldown than your Heroic Ability as you will be always losing the cooldown trade.
Level 13 Talents for Yrel
Enemy Heroes hit by Vindication at maximum charge deal 40% less damage for 3 seconds.
Aldor Peacekeeper is a good Talent that causes
fully-charged
Vindication casts to temporarily
reduce the damage done by enemy Heroes hit.
Since it requires
Vindication to be fully charged,
you should not pick this Talent together with Talents that require either
Righteous Hammer or
Avenging Wrath
to be fully charged.
We find this Talent more effective when combined with the
Armor provided by
Sacred Ground
and more reliable to use with the additional
Vindication's
range provided by
Light of Karabor at Level 1.
Increase Avenging Wrath's Slow by 25% and duration by 0.75 seconds.
Repentance is a good Talent which increases
the power and the duration of the slow applied by
Avenging Wrath, so that every cast becomes
more threatening for enemy Heroes who are trying to run away. This effect works
even when not fully charging
Avenging Wrath.
Hitting an enemy Hero with a Basic Ability at maximum charge grants 10% Spell Power for 10 seconds, up to 30%.
Velen's Chosen is a strong Talent that increases your healing
and damage output every time you hit an enemy Hero with a fully-charged Basic Ability.
This buff lasts 10 seconds and stacks up to 3 times.
The damage increase is great for
Avenging Wrath at Level 7.
The healing increase also affects
Maraad's Insight at Level 1
and
Gift of the Naaru at Level 4.
Level 16 Talents for Yrel
Righteous Hammer reduces the Armor of enemy Heroes hit by 15 for 4 seconds and deals bonus damage equal to 6% of their maximum Health.
Templar's Verdict is a strong Talent that heavily increases
the damage done by
Righteous Hammer. All enemy Heroes hit
by it have their Armor reduced and take a considerable amount
of percent-based damage. This effect works
even when not fully charging
Righteous Hammer.
The combination of Armor reduction and percent-based damage is great for helping your team to easily kill any target, including Tanks.
Casting a Basic Ability reduces the cooldown of Divine Purpose by 2.5 seconds.
Divine Favor is a good Talent that reduces
the cooldown of
Divine Purpose every time
you cast a Basic Ability, allowing you to instantly fully charge
another one sooner.
We find this Talent useful when playing against Heroes who can
easily interrupt your Basic Abilities
and/or in combination with
Gift of the Naaru
at Level 4 for increasing your healing output on allied Heroes.
After casting a Basic Ability, Yrel's next Basic Attack splashes for 35% increased damage around the target.
Holy Wrath is a good Talent that causes
the next Basic Attack after casting a Basic Ability to deal more
damage to the main target and moderate splash damage around it.
We find this Talent useful for increasing the macro pressure on the enemy team in the late game. The ability to quickly clear waves of enemy Minions should not be underestimated on big Maps, especially if 2 lanes are close enough for Yrel to double soak.
Level 20 Talents for Yrel
Increase the amount that Yrel heals from damage received from 50% to 75%. Ardent Defender heals nearby allied Heroes for 100% of the healing received by Yrel.
Word of Glory is a decent Talent which improves
the damage to healing conversion of
Ardent Defender
and causes all the self-healing received by Yrel in the process
to also heal allied Heroes within range.
Casting Avenging Wrath while inside Sacred Ground moves Sacred Ground to Yrel's location upon landing.
Hallowed Ground is a good Talent that allows you to move
Sacred Ground's sanctified area around as you jump with
Avenging Wrath. This effect works
even when not fully charging
Avenging Wrath.
- Cooldown: 80 seconds
After 1 second, Yrel becomes Invulnerable and casts Hearthstone. Cannot be canceled.
Bubble Hearth is a mediocre Talent which, after
channeling for 1 second, casts Hearthstone
and makes Yrel fully Invulnerable.
Before activating it, you should cast
Righteous Hammer
to Stun all enemy Heroes surrounding you that could
interrupt the initial channel.
We find this Talent quite underwhelming in most if not all situations. The only application that makes sense is to use it as a safety tool while split-pushing to put pressure on the enemy team.
Warning!
Bubble Hearth cannot be picked in ARAM.
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
Activate to become Unstoppable for 2 seconds.
Seraphim is a strong Talent that can be activated
to make Yrel Unstoppable for 2 seconds, making
her Basic Abilities impossible to be interrupted.
We recommend to pick this Talent most of the time because, when used correctly, it mitigates how powerful interrupts are against Yrel's Basic Abilities.
You can also use this Talent to counter Heroic Abilities
that apply a powerful crowd control effect on you
(notably
Temporal Loop by Chromie).
