Uther's Talent Build Cheatsheet
Hammer of Justice Build
RecommendedUther's Hammer of Justice Build increases your crowd control by a considerable amount, allowing you to peel for your team during team fights.
Hammer of the Lightbringer at Level 1 and
Well Met at Level 13
are great together as they empower each other: the Slow provided by the latter
makes you Basic Attack more while the cooldown reduction given by the former
makes you Stun more.
Hybrid Build
SituationalUther's Hybrid Build features various offensive and utility Talents that can be used to damage and crowd control opponents.
The combination of
Holy Shock at Level 4
and
Silver Touch at Level 1 is useful
for dismounting enemy Heroes, especially Tanks
that are trying to engage.
Holy Light Build
SituationalUther's Holy Light Build gives a considerable boost to your healing power and survivability in the late game in the form of sustain healing for your teammates and burst healing for yourself.
The synergy between
Beacon of Light at Level 16
and
Blessed Champion at Level 13 allows you to go
from low to high Health with a single
Holy Light cast
and few Basic Attacks. Basic Attacks will also heal nearby allied Heroes.
ARAM Build
ARAMUther's ARAM Build is designed to help you keep allied Heroes alive when you cannot position aggressively and to punish whoever gets too close to you or allied Heroes nearby.
Wave of Light at Level 1 slightly increases your
sustain healing as well as your Armor
uptime, allowing you to better support allied Heroes
with
Holy Radiance while they are taking damage.
Level 1 Talents for Uther
Quest: Reduce damage from Heroic sources with Devotion.
Reward: After reducing damage 40 times, Holy Light's Mana cost is reduced from 80 to 60.
Reward: After reducing damage 80 times, Holy Light's Mana cost is reduced to 40, and its range is increased by 50%.
Silver Touch is a good Talent that provides additional range for
your healing via
Holy Light while also reducing their Mana cost. Pick this Talent when
you feel like you will not get enough value from
Hammer of the Lightbringer
because the enemy team has too much crowd control
to safely hit them with your Basic Attacks.
Quest: Damage or heal Heroes 60 times with Holy Radiance.
Reward: Increase the duration of Devotion by 0.5 seconds.
Passive: Damaging or healing Heroes with Holy Radiance refunds 5 Mana and reduces its cooldown by 0.75 seconds.
Wave of Light is a good Quest-based Talent
that improves
Holy Radiance by reducing its cooldown and Mana
cost. The duration increase to
Devotion's
Armor-increasing effect furthermore contributes to Uther's
ability to help with survivability, especially if your team has another Healer.
Quest: Basic Attack enemies 75 times.
Reward: Basic Attacks reduce the cooldown of Hammer of Justice by 1.5 seconds.
Passive: Basic Attacks restore 1.5% of Uther's maximum Mana.
Hammer of the Lightbringer is a strong Quest-based Talent that can punish melee Heroes.
Under ideal circumstances, Hammer of the Lightbringer will provide more Mana
than its two alternative Talents, on top of a hefty cooldown
reduction to
Hammer of Justice, particularly valuable
when combined with some of the other Talents that improve Hammer of Justice.
When you have
Divine Storm as Heroic Ability,
you can chain your Stuns almost perfectly:
- start with
Hammer of Justice; - use
Divine Storm when the previous Stun is almost over; - Basic Attack during the whole time to have a second
Hammer of Justice available
right after the Stun from Divine Storm ends.
Level 4 Talents for Uther
- Cooldown: 6 seconds
Activate to deal 145 (+4% per level) damage to the target enemy, and gain the self-healing benefits of Holy Light. Shares a cooldown with Holy Light.
Holy Shock is a good Talent that, by giving you a separate
Active Ability, allows you to cast
Holy Light on enemies
at the cost of less Mana and for a reduced cooldown, dealing moderate damage to them.
Holy Shock and
Holy Light share their
cooldowns, so casting one will put the other on cooldown, and vice versa.
The extra damage provided by this Talent can be useful when your team's strategy involves bursting down one specific target, or when your team composition lacks damage because you have a second Healer.
Combine it with
Silver Touch at Level 1
to spend less Mana and have more cast range. Being able to
deal damage from the distance can also be useful for dismounting
enemy Heroes, slowing down their rotation or weakening their
engage attempt.
An added benefit of this Talent is that it can trigger
Devotion's effect on Uther himself at a relatively low
Mana cost and, thanks to the cooldown reduction,
Beacon of Light at Level 16 more often.
The downside of the Talent, however, is that it does nothing
when using
Holy Light to heal someone.
For this reason, we only recommend picking this Talent when you have
another Healer in team.
Hammer of Justice increases Uther's Movement Speed by 25% for 3 seconds.
Pursuit of Justice provides Uther with a reliable Movement Speed increase,
which helps make up for his otherwise inexistent mobility.
If you have
Benediction at Level 16,
you can do a neat trick with this Talent: activate
Benediction,
cast
Hammer of Justice on any enemy unit nearby
(for example a Minion) to gain Movement Speed, run towards an enemy Hero,
and use
Hammer of Justice on that Hero.
Deal 13 (+4% per level) damage per second to nearby enemies. Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes increase this damage by 20% for 3 seconds. This can stack up to 3 times.
Holy Fire is a decent Talent that
somewhat improves Uther's abysmal waveclear
and increases his damage to enemy Heroes when having space to Basic Attack them.
One interesting aspect of the Talent is its ability to reveal Stealthed
Heroes, turning them into valid targets for
Hammer of Justice
without the need of casting
Holy Radiance towards them.
Similarly, it can be used to destroy hidden Summons on the ground
(like
Creep Tumor by Zagara).
Level 7 Talents for Uther
Being Stunned, Rooted, or Silenced grants Uther 90 Mana and causes Holy Light's cooldown to recharge 200% faster for 6 seconds. This effect has a 20 second cooldown.
Armor of Faith is a situational Talent that punishes
opponents for Stunning Uther
himself by drastically reducing the cooldown of
Holy Light.
Unlike the alternative options available on this Tier,
Armor of Faith cannot be used to help allied Heroes
affected by enemy crowd control,
reducing Uther's general utility but increasing his survivability.
Healing a Hero with a Basic Ability that is Stunned, Rooted, or Silenced grants them 50 Armor for 3 seconds.
Guardian of Ancient Kings is a situational Talent that grants allied Heroes a
very significant amount of Armor if you manage to heal them
with
Holy Light or
Holy Radiance
when they are affected by enemy crowd control.
Remember that it only works with Stun, Root,
and Silence.
- Cooldown: 90 seconds
Activate to make target ally Unstoppable for 1 second. Cannot be cast on Uther. Basic Attacks reduce Hand of Protection's cooldown by 5 seconds.
Hand of Protection is a strong Talent that can be used
to make any allied Hero other than Uther himself Unstoppable
for 1 second, freeing them from any crowd control effect
and allowing them to channel any Ability
without risking to be interrupted.
While it has 30 seconds more cooldown than most cleanse effects
(such as
Intercession by Whitemane),
you can reduce it by 30 seconds by using Basic Attacks for 6 seconds.
Level 10 Talents for Uther
In this section we discuss when and why to pick a given Heroic Ability. If you want to read how they work in detail and/or you are looking for some tips on how to use them, check them out on the Abilities and Strategy page.
- Mana: 80
- Cooldown: 90 seconds
Make an allied Hero Invulnerable and increase their Movement Speed by 20% for 3 seconds.
Divine Shield is a strong but relatively-hard-to-use Heroic Ability that provides
Movement Speed to an allied Hero and also make them Invulnerable
for a few seconds, a buff that will basically make them
Protected and Unstoppable
at the same time.
Pick it when you want to help an allied Hero to make an aggressive play without the risk of being stopped and/or when you need a tool to save allied Heroes from certain death.
- Mana: 80
- Cooldown: 80 seconds
Deal 170 (+4% per level) damage and Stun nearby enemies for 1.75 seconds.
Divine Storm is a good and relatively-easy-to-use Heroic Ability that allows
you to Stun for almost 2 seconds all enemies in a small area around you.
Do not hesitate to use it on isolated enemy Heroes!
Choose it when you need to counter-engage and/or peel for your team, regardless of the Role you are covering in your team composition.
Level 13 Talents for Uther
For the next 5 seconds after using Holy Light, Uther's Basic Attacks heal him and nearby allied Heroes for 15% of the total amount healed by Holy Light.
Blessed Champion has the potential of providing some
incredible area of effect healing. This potential, however, hinges upon being
able to reliably deliver Basic Attacks, which may be not always possible.
The healing done by this Talent is also increased by the self-healing provided
by
Beacon of Light at Level 16, so they are great
when paired together as they can increase Uther's sustain
healing by a considerable amount when the situation permits.
Pick this Talent when your team needs sustain healing, when the enemy team lacks burst damage to quickly get a kill, and/or when you want to keep your team healthy between team fights.
When used against Heroes, Hammer of Justice reduces the target's Movement Speed and damage dealt by 25% for 3 seconds.
Well Met provides a modest but reliable debuff that stacks with the
Armor provided by
Devotion in
terms of damage reduction. The Slow is also useful as well
when used with
Hammer of the Lightbringer and
Pursuit of Justice as they allow you to consistently
maintain the debuff on your chosen target.
Every 30 seconds, gain 50 Spell Armor against the next enemy Ability and subsequent Abilities for 3 seconds, reducing the damage taken by 50%.
Can be toggled to allow or prevent this talent from triggering automatically.
Spell Shield is a situational Talent that provides
Spell Armor for a few seconds when you take damage.
You can toggle it on or off.
If you do not want to waste its cooldown when being hit by cheap damage, keep it off and only toggle it on when you expect to take burst damage. Since you cannot do this while under crowd control effects, you should also toggle it on right before becoming unable to act because of them because you will likely be hit by burst damage in that time window.
We find this Talent rarely needed because, after using his long-cooldown Basic Abilities
and especially his powerful Heroic Ability, Uther wants to be the first Hero to die
in team fights, so that he can get value from
Devotion.
Level 16 Talents for Uther
Uther receives 125% bonus self-healing when targeting others with Holy Light. This bonus is increased to 250% while he is below 50% Health.
Beacon of Light provides half value when Uther has
high Health and full value when he is low on Health. When high Health,
Uther is healed by 226. When low Health, Uther is healed by twice that amount.
This effect drastically increases his survivability in prolonged team fights.
The self-healing provided by this Talent also increases the healing done
by
Blessed Champion at Level 13, so they are great
when paired together as they can increase Uther's sustain
healing by a considerable amount when the situation permits.
Increase the damage and healing of Holy Radiance by 10%. Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes cause Uther's next cast of Holy Radiance to have its damage and healing increased by an additional 10%, stacking up to 7 times.
Tyr's Deliverance increases the damage and healing
coming from
Holy Radiance by 10% as flat value
and by additional 10% for each Basic Attack done on enemy Heroes before casting it,
stacking up to additional 70% healing when allowed to freely use Basic Attack.
We do not recommended this Talent as we find it too hard to get value from
during most if not all games, especially if you consider that
Benediction
and
Beacon of Light will give you similar value in short
and long team fights respectively.
- Cooldown: seconds
Activate to reduce the Mana cost of Uther's next Basic Ability by 50 and its cooldown by 10 seconds.
Benediction is a strong Talent that can be activated
before using a Basic Ability to have its cooldown reset and its Mana cost
reduced by 50. Similarly to
Rewind, it allows you
to cast the same Ability twice in a row.
Spend it on
Holy Light when you need more
single-target healing,
Holy Radiance when you
need more multi-target healing, or
Hammer of Justice
when you need more crowd control.
If you have
Pursuit of Justice at Level 4,
you can do a neat trick with this Talent: activate
Benediction,
cast
Hammer of Justice on any enemy unit nearby
(for example a Minion) to gain Movement Speed, run towards an enemy Hero,
and use
Hammer of Justice on that Hero.
Level 20 Talents for Uther
Divine Shield is also applied to all nearby allied Heroes and lasts 1 second longer.
Bulwark of Light is a situational Talent that can be used
for protecting several Heroes at once, something that is extremely strong
as a defensive tool when playing against team compositions
featuring a wombo combo.
Divine Storm's radius is increased by 50% and its cooldown is reduced by 40 seconds.
Divine Hurricane simply increases the reliability of
Divine Storm by allowing it to hit more targets. This
increases Uther's effective threat range, and can be particularly surprising to
unexpecting opponents. This Talent works well with combo-heavy teams that rely
on quickly wrestling kills to gain an advantage.
After Eternal Vanguard ends, Uther revives at the spirit's location with 50% of his maximum Health.
This effect has a 180 second cooldown.
Redemption is one of the best Talents in the game.
The utility of being able to die, expending your opponent's time and resources,
to then be able to use Eternal Vanguard's outstanding healing
potential, to then revive near your team with a full Mana bar and a reasonable
amount of Health simply cannot be overstated.
Remember to move your spirit to a safe location before Eternal Vanguard ends because clever opponents will quickly switch their attention to you if you happen to respawn near them. This effect has a cooldown of 3 minutes, so avoid wasting it and be careful not to die when it is not available.
Increase Devotion Armor to 50 and its duration by 0.5 seconds.
Divine Protection is a subtle yet extremely impactful
Talent that helps Uther with that which he is best at: mitigating burst damage.
Being able to gain and give 50 Amor on demand
and for a longer duration simply cannot be overstated,
especially when playing with another Healer in team.
