Uliana Seven-Sided Strike Monk Speed Farming Variation

Last updated on Mar 12, 2020 at 09:00 by Deadset 20 comments

On this page, we explain everything that is specific to the Speed Farming variant of Uliana Seven-Sided Strike Monk. Updated for patch 2.6.8 and Season 20.

1.

Speed Farming

The Uliana Seven-Sided Strike Monk deals with regular Rift farming decently all the way through the highest Torments, making it a viable build for the task. We have speed farming rankings if you want to know more about which builds are best for speed farming.

Within the limited scope of regular difficulties, the necessary damage and toughness to triumph over the enemy is significantly smaller. Thus, your best course of action is to improve utility and speed.

2.

Adapting Rotation

When you are speed farming regular rifts, parts of your playstyle will adapt to the lowered challenge and focus more on speed and utility.

When farming, the Uliana Monk beelines directly to the densest fight possible, using a combination of Dashing Strike Dashing Strike Way of the Falling Star Way of the Falling Star and Mantra of Conviction Mantra of Conviction Annihilation Annihilation for mobility. Once you triple-attack to apply an Exploding Palm Exploding Palm with Way of the Hundred Fists Way of the Hundred Fists and detonate the first pack with Seven-Sided Strike Seven-Sided Strike (everything should die immediately), you can pretty much keep a chain of SSS-detonations from one pack to another, using stragglers to keep spreading the Exploding Palm Exploding Palms. When necessary, simply spread another EP with a triple attack and keep up the destruction, aiming to get back-to-back procs of In-geom In-geom, and maintain the passive defense of Epiphany Epiphany in the background.

3.

Adapting Skills

During regular Rift farm, the timing and density-sensitive, additive damage increase of Assimilation Assimilation is excessive; it can be replaced by the movement speed bonus of Blazing Fists Blazing Fists.

You should also be able to drop Cyclone Strike Cyclone Strike's protective utility for the movespeed bonus of Mantra of Conviction Mantra of Conviction Annihilation Annihilation (especially useful when grouped up, due to its party-wide nature).

Finalize the speed farming build with a swap of Blinding Speed Blinding Speed to the Way of the Falling Star Way of the Falling Star rune to enjoy a sizable increase of post-Dashing Strike Dashing Strike movement speed.

The passive selection from the progression is still quite valuable: Harmony Harmony for the overall toughness, Beacon of Ytar Beacon of Ytar for the Cooldown Reduction, and Mythic Rhythm Mythic Rhythm for the damage buff to Seven-Sided Strike. If you trust your survivability, you can consider dropping Near Death Experience Near Death Experience for a utility passive like Fleet Footed Fleet Footed or Momentum Momentum.

4.

Adapting Gear

You will still be taking advantage of the full 6-piece set bonuses of Uliana, incorporating the same split as you would in progression — but instead of the Cpt. Crimson set,you will be including the Sage's Journey set for Death's Breath farming. Take Sage's Ribbon Sage's Ribbon and Sage's Passage Sage's Passage, and then complete both the Uliana and Sage set bonuses with a Ring of Royal Grandeur Ring of Royal Grandeur in the Cube.

A progression-oriented combo like Convention of Elements Convention of Elements and the Endless Walk set will be too slow, defensive and timing-dependent for farming purposes; they are best replaced by a Cold % Stone of Jordan Stone of Jordan and an Avarice Band Avarice Band respectively. Avarice Band Avarice Band is a cache legendary from Act III bounties that offers considerable utility in the form of pickup radius, synergizing perfectly with a socketed Boon of the Hoarder Boon of the Hoarder and Goldwrap Goldwrap. In turn, Stone of Jordan Stone of Jordan offers a consistent damage increase that is more suited to speed farming. These speedrun rings are best completed with The Flavor of Time The Flavor of Time, as its power doubles the duration of Pylon pickups and makes farming even smoother.

Finally, consider swapping one of the dedicated Seven-Sided Strike Seven-Sided Strike legendary weapons for In-geom In-geom during regular Rifts, as the cooldown reduction procs of the latter will ensure your near-limitless mobility and damage potential as long as you maintain elite killing streaks. Our general recommendation is to swap Lion's Claw Lion's Claw and keep a The Fist of Az'Turrasq The Fist of Az'Turrasq plus In-geom In-geom combo.

To help you with farming the gear you need for your builds, we have two very useful guides that you can access by clicking the links below: a Salvage Guide to help you quickly check whether or not you can safely salvage a piece of gear and a Legendary Farming Guide to help you efficiently farm legendaries and set items.

5.

Adapting Gems

Bane of the Trapped Bane of the Trapped astill brings excellent damage multiplication value to the build in speed farming.

In regular Rift farming, Bane of the Stricken Bane of the Stricken is best replaced by Boon of the Hoarder Boon of the Hoarder, whose interaction with Goldwrap Goldwrap and Avarice Band Avarice Band will keep you rich, safe and sped up throughout the rift.

Depending on your confidence in keeping up In-geom In-geom procs, you can also consider swapping the CDR-oriented Gogok of Swiftness Gogok of Swiftness for the general damage and mitigation increase from Bane of the Powerful Bane of the Powerful.

Adapting Kanai's Cube

The Flow of Eternity The Flow of Eternity is still a necessary part of a Seven-Sided Strike setup, taking up the weapon slot in the Cube.

Our recommendation for the armor Cube slot is Goldwrap Goldwrap, since its synergy with Boon of the Hoarder Boon of the Hoarder and Avarice Band Avarice Band will render you practically invincible during regular Rifts. If you are comfortable with your base survivability and want for more speed, you can consider Madstone Madstone in this slot to skip the triple generator attack for application of Exploding Palm.

Lastly, in order to maintain the valuable 6-piece bonus of Uliana and 3-piece bonus of the Sage set, you will need to cube a Ring of Royal Grandeur Ring of Royal Grandeur in the jewelry slot.
