1. Heroes The Lost Vikings Work Well With

In this section we will take a look at Heroes that do particularly well when teamed up with the Triple Trouble.

1.1. E.T.C.

E.T.C. Portrait E.T.C.'s threatening front-line presence and strong initiation/disengage abilities allow him to be a valuable asset to a TLV-centric team composition. Powerslide Icon Powerslide and Face Melt Icon Face Melt are great for catching out overextended enemy Heroes, particularly in the early game when roaming together grouped with allies. Guitar Solo Icon Guitar Solo provides much needed sustain in skirmishes when trying to distract opponents away from a split-pushing Viking. When the Vikings happen to be positioned nearby E.T.C., they will benefit greatly from Rockstar Icon Rockstar as much of their damage comes directly from Basic Attacks.

1.2. Li-Ming

Li-Ming Portrait The ability to stall teamfights by poking enemy Heroes away from Battleground objectives is what makes Li-Ming a great companion for the Vikings. The Vikings are most effective when left alone to do what they do best; as in pressuring lanes and soaking minion experience. Both Magic Missiles Icon Magic Missiles and Arcane Orb Icon Arcane Orb have great range and relatively short cooldowns making them great for constantly harassing the opposition. Li-Ming's Teleport Icon Teleport also allows for great disengage if she happens to be caught in an unfavorable position while stalling.

1.3. Lt. Morales

Lt. Morales Portrait Although very little about Lt. Morales's kit directly effects TLV, the overall sustain she provides her allies causes her to be a great teammate choice. The steady, reliable healing provided by Healing Beam Icon Healing Beam and the damage mitigating effects of Safeguard Icon Safeguard allow Morales to effectively sustain her allies throughout the entirety of skirmishes intended to stall the enemy team. Morales can also offer vital peel for the team if initiated on by means of Displacement Grenade Icon Displacement Grenade. Upon selection of the Vikings, it is generally recommended to include a teammate who will be able to deal sustained amounts of damage. This usually entails a Hero who relies heavily on Basic Attacks. Such a Hero will benefit greatly from Morales' Stim Drone Icon Stim Drone, which will compensate for the lack of damage during teamfights due to the absence of one or more Vikings.

2. Heroes That Counter The Lost Vikings

In this section we will explore some Heroes that tend to give The Lost Vikings a difficult time.

2.1. Zeratul

Zeratul Portrait The Lost Vikings' small healthpools and split-pushing play style make them the perfect targets for Zeratul to prey on. Although his kit is centered around two high burst Basic Abilities (Cleave Icon Cleave and Singularity Spike Icon Singularity Spike), his trait Permanent Cloak Icon Permanent Cloak is by far what makes him the biggest threat to the Vikings. Overextended Vikings not under constant supervision will often end up being killed almost instantly by Zeratul. Even if a Viking manages to escape the initial attack, Zeratul may quickly followup any attempt to flee with his gap closer Blink Icon Blink. This combination of Permanent Cloak and Blink allows Zeratul to easily invade a Viking who may happen to be hiding safely behind towers or other structures.

2.1.1. How To Play Against Zeratul

Admittedly, playing against a Zeratul with the Vikings will be very tough, as he will be attempting to shut down the Vikings the entire match. The best approach to playing against a Zeratul is to let your teammates know that the Vikings will require constant notification as to where Zeratul was last seen and the direction he was heading. Try to always keep an eye on the mini-map for his current location and try to not over extend too deep when he has recently gone missing. If caught out of position and confronted by Zeratul, try to make sure to dodge Singularity Spike Icon Singularity Spike as this Basic Ability will not only do significant damage, but slow you enough to be quickly finished off by Basic Attacks. It would be wise to save Jump! Icon Jump! for when a Viking has been struck with Singularity Spike as the slow and damage from the ability can be avoided due to its' delayed effect. If not immediately killed, a Viking should be able to outrun Zeratul using Go Go Go! Icon Go Go Go!, so play safe and try to only pressure structures when it is off of cooldown.

2.2. Nova

Nova Portrait Similar to Zeratul described above, Nova's high single-target burst damage and Stealth trait Permanent Cloak Icon Permanent Cloak make her an incredibly frustrating opponent for the Vikings. Nova's Snipe Icon Snipe/Pinning Shot Icon Pinning Shot combo will instantly kill most squisher Heroes including each one of the Vikings, particularly after having talented into One in the Chamber Icon One in the Chamber and Crippling Shot Icon Crippling Shot. Precision Strike Icon Precision Strike can also be used anywhere on the Battleground to quickly hinder any split-push a Viking may attempt.

2.2.1. How To Play Against Nova

Just like with Zeratul, Nova's location on the map needs to be constantly monitored by all members of the team. Snipe Icon Snipe can be blocked by minions and mercenaries so try to position a Viking within the group when marching down a lane to apply pressure. If Snipe can be avoided, Nova should not be too difficult to escape from as she contains no gap-closers within her kit to catch a fleeing Viking. Again, try to not pressure a lane too deep or for too long without the movement ability Go Go Go! Icon Go Go Go! readily available. When buried within a large group of allied Mercenaries or minions be cautious of Nova's Precision Strike Icon Precision Strike which can easily be completely avoided using Jump! Icon Jump!. In teamfights try to avoid being positioned where Nova will be able to easily flank a Viking or attack them from behind.

2.3. Kael'Thas

Kael'thas Portrait Kael'thas' Basic Ability Living Bomb Icon Living Bombs makes him to be a complete nightmare for the Vikings, particularly when they are grouped up. If poorly positioned, a single cast of Living Bombs will easily kill the Vikings as it can quickly spread from one to the other as well as any other nearby teammates. The extraordinary damage of each one of Kael'Thas' abilities makes facing off against him feel like a high-stakes game of Frogger, where more time appears to be spent on dodging his attacks rather than attacking him. Since Jump! Icon Jump! cannot be used when under the effects of Gravity Lapse Icon Gravity Lapse, a Viking who is caught out will most often end up being immediately killed by Living Bomb Icon Living Bombs and Flamestrike Icon Flamestrike.

2.3.1. How To Play Against Kael'thas

The first step to playing well against a Kael'thas is always monitoring the Vikings positioning in teamfights. Although it might be difficult to pull off, each Viking should be controlled independently and spread out from one another as to not end up being killed by multiple explosions of Living Bomb Icon Living Bombs or a single cast of Flamestrike Icon Flamestrike talented with Fury of the Sunwell Icon Fury of the Sunwell. If a Viking happens to be struck with Living Bombs and is positioned deep within the ally group, Jump! Icon Jump! should be used just before the explosion to negate the effect of the ability. Also try to track the use of Kael'thas' Basic Abilities and their cooldowns before directly engaging him with the Vikings. If a Kael'thas player happens to choose Pyroblast Icon Pyroblast at Level 10 and targets a Viking with the ability, try to save Jump! and use it right before the blast strikes the Viking completely negating all effects.

2.4. Li-Ming

Li-Ming Portrait One of Li-Ming's greatest strengths against TLV lies in her ability to completely shut down a Viking with Magic Missiles Icon Magic Missiles and Arcane Orb Icon Arcane Orb right from the beginning of the match. Secondly, her trait Critical Mass Icon Critical Mass allows her to keep refreshing her abilities each time an enemy is killed, including each different Viking. This becomes a huge problem for the entire team, as Li-Ming will constantly rotate through her entire kit each time a single Viking is killed. Once talented into Temporal Flux Icon Temporal Flux at Level 20, Li-Ming will apply massive amounts of damage and a pretty significant slow to the entire team. Each time a Viking dies, Li-Ming will be able to reposition using Teleport Icon Teleport and recast Disintegrate Icon Disintegrate as well as her other two Basic Abilities.

2.4.1. How To Play Against Li-Ming

Much like with facing off against Kaelthas, success against Li-Ming starts with the ability to confidently move each Viking around as to dodge her volley of abilities. In lane, try to position allied minions between Li-Ming and a Viking, as they will block both Magic Missiles Icon Magic Missiles and Arcane Orb Icon Arcane Orb. In teamfights, prioritize the survival of your Vikings as to not give Li-Ming use of Critical Mass Icon Critical Mass. Keep track of her abilities and their cooldowns and keep from positioning the Vikings within line-of-sight of them. If caught within Li-Ming's Disintegrate Icon Disintegrate use Jump! Icon Jump! to avoid its large amounts of AoE damage, especially to prevent the death of a Viking and the proc of her Critical Mass. Li-Ming is quite squishy and can be easily dueled by all three of the Vikings once they are able to get close enough to her. Try to steer clear of charging her in a direct line within her vision, as to avoid getting pummeled by her burst of abilities.
