Season 40 Theme: Light’s Calling — All You Need To Know
This Season introduces a new type of consumable item called Angelic Crucibles. Beyond the quick overview below, we also have a massive Angelic Crucible Effects and Mechanics article, where we go in-depth over the effects of this seasonal addition. If you are interested in the particulars of these bonuses and how they can affect your build, delve right in!
Once uncovered by the player, Angelic Crucibles can be used to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item. Sanctifying an item reforges it to have perfect Ancient-level stats on all affixes while also preserving the item's Legendary Power. In addition, this process adds one of three new powers unique to each class.
As season-specific consumable items, Angelic Crucibles share the following traits:
- Angelic Crucibles and Sanctified Items can only be acquired in Seasonal play and will not transfer to your non-Seasonal character when this Season ends.
- Angelic Crucibles can drop anywhere in Sanctuary at level 70.
- Players can obtain as many Sanctified items as they would like, however, only one Sanctified item can be equipped at a time.
- Sanctified items can be Sanctified again using another Angelic Crucible.
- No stats are preserved when Sanctifying an item.
- Only level 70 equippable items can be Sanctified—crafted items cannot be Sanctified.
- Followers cannot equip Sanctified items.
Season 40 Conquests
Seasonal Conquests are additional goals you can complete as part of our Season Journey. To earn all the cosmetic rewards, you'll need to complete at least three of the Conquests below. Here are guides on how to accomplish just that:
- Speed Demon/Need for Speed: Complete a Nephalem Rift at max level on Torment X within 2 minutes. (Note: Due to power creep in Diablo 3, this conquest no longer needs a particular guide. Any of our Normal Rift Speed Farming variants for any build of your liking will do.)
- On A Good Day/I Can't Stop: Upgrade 3 Legendary Gems to level 65.
- Boss Mode/Worlds Apart: Kill all the bosses at max level on Torment X within 20 minutes of the start of the game.

Season 40 Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began reintroducing previous rewards to make them available to players who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 40, this means rewards originally available from Season 16 are returning. In addition to the Helm and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, players can earn the monarch butterfly-styled Wings of Lempo.
As in past seasons, two new End of Journey cosmetic rewards will be obtainable during Season 40. Gaze upon the Taennin the Tiny pet as she shimmers among the stars, leaving ripples of the purest light behind, and tap into your wild side with the Primal Hunter portrait.
