2. Whitemane's Talent Build Cheatsheet
Desperate Plea BuildTalent calculator »
The Desperate Plea build focuses on increasing the healing output and self-sustain of Desperate Plea. Martyrdom greatly increases the healing potential of Desperate Plea, while Unwavering Faith is the default option for reducing the Mana cost. Zealous Spirit gives Whitemane a Mana free Zeal buff when she reaches two stacks of Desperation, which will occur naturally when Martyrdom has been selected. Self-Righteous helps Whitemane self-sustain even more, which means she will be able to trade damage more often. This is important, as dealing damage will give healing to all allies with Zeal. Radiance pushes the healing of this build over the top, giving a respectable amount of healing to all allies affected by Zeal. When used in conjunction with Scarlet Aegis, Radiance can almost seem like a burst heal.
A good practice to default to is to cast Desperate Plea twice, and then wait for Desperation to expire before casting it again. While there will be many situations that require you to improvise outside of this pattern, it is a good starting point to preserve your Mana for when you need it most.
Inquisition BuildTalent calculator »
The Inquisition Build focuses on Talents that increase the versatility of Inquisition. This build opens up several plays that are otherwise not possible to perform. Clemency gives you some much needed out-of-combat healing, and can also be used to trigger High Inquisitor's effect when enemy targets are unavailable. Shared Punishment more than doubles the potential effectiveness of Inquisition; Clemency allows you to chain Shared Punishment from allies. This enables you to indirectly damage enemy Heroes from a safer distance, which can be invaluable if you need to back up to regain health. The affected ally will receive healing from Clemency, and again through Zeal from the damage Inquisition deals to an enemy. In late-game fights, Subjugation can give your team a huge advantage by greatly reducing the damage of two enemy Heroes.
Searing Lash BuildTalent calculator »
Searing Lash has a very low cooldown and no Mana cost; this build leverages these strengths by improving the damage, reliability, and availability of Searing Lash. This build has even less reliable healing than the others, and is best taken when a second Support Hero is on your team.
3. Level 1 Talents for Whitemane
Each stack of Desperation increases Desperate Plea's healing by 30%.
- Cooldown: 10 seconds
Activate to cast Inquisition on an allied Hero, healing them for up to 350 (+4% per level) over 3 seconds while Channeling.
Passive: Reduce Inquisition's cooldown by 4 seconds.
Searing Lash deals 75% more damage to enemies who are Stunned, Rooted, Silenced or Slowed.
Allies below 50% Health receive 25% more healing from Zeal.
Martyrdom increases the healing of consecutive Desperate Plea casts. Desperate Plea will heal for much more when Desperation is fully stacked, but using Desperate Plea this way will exhaust your Mana very quickly. It is important to constantly weigh the cost of each cast. The primary function of Desperate Plea should be to apply Zeal to your allies; Martyrdom's impressive healing numbers can cause this to be less clear. However, this Talent can be of great value when managed correctly.
Clemency is a very safe Talent to take; it allows you to heal allies with Inquisition directly. Whitemane has no tools in her kit to increase her own mobility and casting Inquisition roots her in place. Instead of channeling Inquisition on an enemy Hero, you can heal from a safer position when necessary. Clemency also reduces the cooldown of Inquisition passively. Clemency's activated component does have the downside of healing only one ally at a time, but you can still heal multiple allies by casting Inquisition on enemies. Clemency cast on allies will trigger Shared Punishment if an enemy Hero is nearby. Together, these Talents allow you to position much more safely while providing excellent healing to your whole team.
Righteous Flame will increase the healing received by allies with Zeal by increasing the damage of Searing Lash. Whitemane can trigger the bonus damage herself by casting Inquisition before Searing Lash impacts. During teamfights, the bonus damage will be quite common with most team compositions. Righteous Flame is best to take as part of a Searing Lash oriented build. If you do not plan to take the other Searing Lash Talents, you may consider more reliable healing from one of the other Talents.
Pity the Frail is the least reliable Level 1 Talent. In order to heal allies via Zeal, you must be in a position to deal damage to an enemy Hero. In order to heal them for a meaningful amount, you will also need Inquisition and Searing Lash cooldowns. An ally who is low on health will often need healing immediately. In the event that you cannot safely deal damage, Pity the Frail will get no value. Martyrdom and Clemency can be used to great effect when Whitemane is unable to safely deal damage, and are recommended over this Talent.
4. Level 4 Talents for Whitemane
Reduce Desperate Plea's Mana cost by 15.
Upon reaching 3 stacks of Desperation, gain a 250 (+4% per level) Shield for 5 seconds.
Casting Inquisition instantly removes all stacks of Desperation and restores 50 Mana per stack removed.
Searing Lash's first strike restores 20 Mana per Hero hit, and its second strike restores 40 Mana per Hero hit.
Whitemane's Level 4 Talents all help with Mana management in different ways. The optimal choice will depend on the enemy team composition, and the other Talents you are planning to take.
Unwavering Faith is a good option if you do not have Clemency. If the enemy team has drafted a Poke oriented composition, it can be very difficult to trigger High Inquisitor's effect before your Desperation stacks expire.
High Inquisitor is the Talent to default to here, because it is the only tool in Whitemane's kit that can remove Desperation stacks. This Talent also allows you to replenish your Mana surprisingly well. This works wonderfully with Clemency, which allows you to trigger High Inquisitor's effect more much often.
Indulgence is the Talent to take if you are planning to build around Searing Lash. You must hit enemy Heroes with Searing Lash's second strike quite often in order for this Talent to provide enough Mana to be worth it. Harsh Discipline ensures that the second strike will hit at least one Hero. Lashing Out will reset Searing Lash, and will help generate even more Mana through Indulgence.
5. Level 7 Talents for Whitemane
Upon reaching 2 stacks of Desperation, Whitemane gains Zeal.
- Cooldown: 30 seconds
Activate to gain 50% Spell Power and lose 25 Armor for 5 seconds.
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
Activate to make an ally Unstoppable for 1 second and gain 1 stack of Desperation.
Zealous Spirit is another tool to help you manage your Mana by creating a Zeal buff (on yourself) that does not generate a stack of Desperation. This means that you can have 3 recently activated Zeal buffs with only two stacks of Desperation. Another way to think about this is that the sustainable amount of active Zeal targets is increased from 2 to 3. Because the number of active Zeal buffs essentially multiplies your potential healing output, this is the recommended Talent in this tier.
Fanatical Power can be activated to increase your Spell Power and the amount of damage you take for a short time. Whitemane is rather squishy and lacks mobility. While Fanatical Power can be effective with specific team compositions, you should consider survivability before choosing it. With that said, it does have strong synergy with both of Whitemane's Heroic Talents.
Intercession is one of two tools that Whitemane has that can grant an ally Unstoppable, the other option being Scarlet Crusade at Level 20. If your team needs Unstoppable, it is recommended to take both of these tools. Intercession has the unfortunate side effect of generating a stack of Desperation; it is good to pair this Talent with High Inquisitor in order to help mitigate this cost.
6. Level 10 Talents for Whitemane
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
Bolster the spirits of nearby allied Heroes, healing them for 250 (+4% per level) and granting them 40 Armor for 4 seconds.
- Cooldown: 100 seconds
After 1 second, consecrate an area for 4 seconds, dealing 50 (+4% per level) damage every 0.5 seconds to enemies inside.
Scarlet Aegis is a fantastic Heroic that heals all nearby allies, which applies Zeal to them. This means that you can apply Zeal to all teammates simultaneously without gaining any Desperation stacks. The armor provided by this Heroic is also very beneficial.
Divine Reckoning deals damage over time in an area. This can be a great way to increase your healing through Zeal. Divine Reckoning works best in team compositions that can help trap enemies inside the consecrated area. It is not currently recommended over Scarlet Aegis, as it has a much longer cooldown and does not apply Zeal to your allies.
7. Level 13 Talents for Whitemane
Casting Desperate Plea on an ally heals Whitemane for 135 (+4% per level). Does not grant Zeal.
Hitting a Hero with Searing Lash while they are being targeted by Inquisition Roots them for 1.5 seconds.
Whenever Zeal is applied to allies other than Whitemane, it grants them 20% Movement Speed for 2 seconds.
Self-Righteous is a great self-sustain tool. Although Self Righteous does not apply Zeal to Whitemane, Zealous Spirit will. These two Talents help to keep Whitemane healthy while you focus on dealing damage to heal your allies.
Guiding Light grants Movement Speed to allied Heroes whenever you apply Zeal to them. Unfortunately, it does nothing to increase Whitemane's survivability or mobility. Granting this amount of Movement Speed is something that Lucio can do with a Level 1 Talent. While Guiding Light is not recommended for Draft game modes, it may be very useful in certain Quick Match games.
8. Level 16 Talents for Whitemane
Upon reaching 3 stacks of Desperation, all allies with Zeal are healed for 175 (+4% per level).
Upon casting, Inquisition can chain to an additional enemy Hero near its target, dealing 35 (+4% per level) damage every 0.5 seconds.
Searing Lash's second strike deals 25% more damage and reduces Searing Lash's cooldown to 1 second if it hits a Hero.
Radiance is an amazing Talent that greatly increases your healing. High Inquisitor makes it possible to trigger Radiance twice in quick succession, which can result in massive amounts of healing in a short time.
Shared Punishment increases healing by doubling the number of Inquisition targets. Shared Punishment will still cause Inquisition to chain to an enemy if it is cast onto an ally via Clemency. This allows you to position more safely while channeling Inquisition for damage.
Lashing Out is essential for a Searing Lash build. It will allow you to cast Searing Lash much more often in team fights, as long as the second strike hits an enemy Hero. When Lashing Out is paired with Harsh Discipline, it becomes a very reliable way to land the second strike. Lashing Out may also be easier to trigger if your team has a lot of crowd-control.
9. Level 20 Talents for Whitemane
Scarlet Aegis heals for 50% more and makes affected allies Unstoppable for 1 second.
Divine Reckoning deals 30% more damage and pulls enemies to its center the first time it hits them.
Inquisition reduces all damage the target deals by 75%.
- Cooldown: 40 seconds
Activate to blast an enemy Hero with holy fire, reducing their Armor by 25 and dealing 300 (+4% per level) damage over 4 seconds.
Scarlet Crusade is a great Level 20 Talent that can grant multiple allies, and even Whitemane, Unstoppable. During the late-game, preventing or removing incoming crowd-control Abilities can often mean turning the game in your teams favour. This Talent is highly recommended.
Judgment Day is a strong upgrade for Divine Reckoning that adds a bit of crowd-control to the consecrated area. If your team composition's win condition is to chain damage dealing Heroics, this may be a good option.
