Sunwuko Wave of Light Monk Inna Wave of Light Variation
On this page, we explain everything that is specific to the Inna Wave of Light variant of Sunwuko Wave of Light Monk. Updated for patch 2.6.4 and Season 16.
1. Inna Wave of Light
The Inna Wave of Light Monk is a variation of the base SWK Wave of Light build that is greatly improved in viability by the S16 buff, which grants the effects of Ring of Royal Grandeur passively. This allows you to introduce staple Wave of Light pieces into a setup whose set pieces traditionally clash with WoL.
2. Adapting Skills
|Wave of Light Explosive Light Dashing Strike Blinding Speed 1 Epiphany Desert Shroud 2 Serenity Ascension 3 Mystic Ally Air Ally 4 Mantra of Salvation Agility|
Skill-wise, the Inna WoL variation is largely similar to its Sunwuko counterpart, notably dropping Sweeping Wind—a prerequisite only for SWK-based builds—and adopting Serenity Ascension for its damage reduction needs. You will be using Serenity as often as possible during the Rift clear, prioritizing its uptime during the Fire cycle of Convention of Elements to ensure maximum damage output.
Since this build is played without a generator skill, you are able to introduce additional safety and tankiness with the inclusion of the staple Epiphany Desert Shroud.
3. Adapting Gear
As the name of the variation implies, you will transition the Wave of Light build from a full Sunwuko into a full Inna setup in your gear. This allows you to alter certain pieces—for example, there is no Sunwuko's Shines to take up your amulet slot, so you are able to take The Endless Walk set in your jewelry—but the general stat recommendations remain the same. You will retain a high focus on Cooldown Reduction (ideally over 56%), a moderate amount of Resource Cost Reduction (15%+) and spread Area Damage wherever possible (90%+ for optimal results).
Note that as a non-SWK setup, you are able to drop Vengeful Wind from the standard Wave of Light setup and enjoy the extra damage from Rabid Strike; your high Epiphany uptime will essentially double up your damage output on an extra target.
You have no particular requirements for the shoulder piece; any well rolled legendary will do. In the ideal case, you will have Pauldrons of the Skeleton King from Act I bounty bags for an extra Cheat Death proc.
4. Paragon Points
5. Adapting Gemming
You will retain the same legendary gems as the base Sunwuko WoL setup—the benefits of Bane of the Trapped, Bane of the Stricken and Zei's Stone of Vengeance are just as lucrative in this variation. You can read up on their bonuses in more depth in the dedicated SWK Gear page, gems section.

6. Adapting Kanai's Cube
For your Kanai's Cube selection, you will retain the Wave of Light staple Incense Torch of the Grand Temple in the weapon slot for the RCR and damage increase, and introduce the Inna mainstay The Crudest Boots in the armor slot to double up your Mystic Ally summons. In your jewelry slot during Season 16, you will be able to slot Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac, due to the passive Ring of Royal Grandeur effect. The effect of the Zodiac ring will enable high uptime on vital survivability cooldowns like Epiphany and Serenity, as well as the crucial resource refill of Mystic Ally Air Ally.
