Table of Contents

This variant of Highlander Priest uses powerful Dragon Priest tools such as Twilight Acolyte and Duskbreaker to control the board. It cuts out some early-game spells, favoring Alexstrasza over Prophet Velen for late-game burst damage.

It was used by Hyped to successfully reach rank 1 Legend in December 2017.

3. Comments On The Variation

This variant introduces large number of Dragons into Highlander Priest. This is primarily done to take advantage of the control properties of Duskbreaker and Twilight Acolyte, while the additions of Twilight Drake, Drakonid Operative, and Cobalt Scalebane provide the ability to create a dominant board.

The Dragons in the deck should be used for tempo in the mid-game to control the board and put some pressure back onto opponents. This removes most of the need to use Prophet Velen to burst opponents down in a single turn, however Alexstrasza is present in the deck and can be used aggressively if the other Dragons in the deck fail to deal a significant amount of damage.

3.1. Pros and Cons

This variant contains additional board control tools, making it great at shutting down aggressive decks. The lack of Prophet Velen can make it more difficult to secure victory against decks with large amounts of healing.

3.2. Quick Mulligan Guide

Highlander Priest is heavily dependent on playing the combination of Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin and you should therefore mulligan aggressively for these cards in addition to Kazakus.

Against Aggro you can additionally keep Duskbreaker to shut down any early-game pressure.
