3. Comments On The Variation

This variant of Highlander Priest, like most variants, features large amounts of card draw to help draw into the powerful Shadowreaper Anduin and Raza the Chained combination as soon as possible.

The variant uses Golakka Crawler and Tar Creeper as tech cards to deal with aggressive decks such as Tempo Rogue, Aggro Druid, and Zoo Warlock.

The most noteworthy part of this variant is the inclusion of both Lyra the Sunshard and Gadgetzan Auctioneer. Most Highlander Priest variants only include one of these cards, as they perform a similar role of allowing you to use cheap spells to add a large number of cards to your hand. With both cards in the deck, you will often be given the choice of which of the two cards to play, which will vary depending on the state of the game. As a general rule, it is better to play Gadgetzan Auctioneer first to help draw cards to help assemble the Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin combo, whereas Lyra the Sunshard is a much better card to play once you already have the combo in play as it will not draw any further cards from your deck that will push you towards fatigue damage.

3.1. Pros and Cons

The additional tech cards in this variant means that it is better equipped to deal with the Aggro decks in the meta. However, the variant cuts a small amount of card draw that makes it slightly unfavoured against other Highlander Priest decks.

3.2. Quick Mulligan Guide

Highlander Priest is heavily dependent on playing the combination of Raza the Chained and Shadowreaper Anduin and you should therefore mulligan aggressively for these cards in addition to Kazakus.

Against aggressive opponents, you can mulligan away Shadowreaper Anduin and look for solid early-game minions and spells instead, such as Holy Smite, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word: Pain, and Golakka Crawler to help ensure your opponent does not dominate the board.
