This deck outlines how to play Questing Adventurer Miracle Rogue. It is a very fast build of Miracle Rogue that is capable of playing out many games like an Aggro deck by making huge minions and oppressive board states early in the game. By combining this with the late-game draw engine of Gadgetzan Auctioneer, it is a very powerful deck in the right hands.

3. Strategy

This Rogue deck rides the line between a classic Miracle strategy and an all-out Aggro strategy. Through usage of the Counterfeit Coin alongside the Preparation and Tomb Pillager that were already in the deck, you can very aggressively create huge Edwin VanCleefs and Questing Adventurers on the board way too early for many decks to deal with them. If this does not pan out, you still have the classic Gadgetzan Auctioneer strategy to fall back on, and adapting your strategy to each matchup and situation is key to success.

3.1. Key Skills

3.1.1. Resource Management

This deck plays various tools for casting cheap spells in the form of Counterfeit Coin, Preparation, Backstab, and The Coins from Tomb Pillager. The dilemma comes from the fact that numerous different cards in your deck all want to use these cheap spells to great effect. The key to the deck is recognising in which matchups and which situations to allocate them to which minion.

As a general rule, it is never bad to use one Coin of any variety to play a Tomb Pillager on turn 3. The extra Tempo that you gain from this coupled with the fact that Pillager will refund the Coin that you used means that it is often the correct play.

Outside of this example however, things get more complicated. You will need to react first to the matchup to decide how you are going to use your resources. Against decks like Jade Druid, or Aggro decks, you are going to want to quickly try and build a huge Questing Adventurer or Edwin VanCleef in order to race them before they overwhelm you, since you will not be able to compete with them over a long period. This can often mean playing a Questing Adventurer early when it is still perhaps vulnerable to a single removal option they might have and building from there if they do not have it. The risk reward of a play like this is overwhelmingly in your favour, since by waiting you will inevitably get overwhelmed, and if they miss the removal, you are at a huge advantage.

Against Control decks however, you do not want to make such all-in plays, since the risk/reward ratio is much more skewed towards the risk. In these matchups it is often better to allocate more resources towards your Gadgetzan Auctioneer to make sure you draw sufficient tools to end the game. However, it can be the case, particularly if you have access to Conceal that the potentially early Questing or Edwin represents too much potential damage to pass up. As a general rule however, you should not use significant resources early on against a Control deck unless you can confidently play around their removal options.

3.1.2. Gadgetzan Auctioneer sequencing

When using Gadgetzan Auctioneer, it is important to sequence your spell usage in the best way possible to maximise your potential draws over the full course of the turn. You should start with spells that you are sure you are going to cast that have no downside such as The Coin and Counterfeit Coin. From this point, many players will by tempted to immediately use any Preparations that they have in their hand. However, if you do not already have a 2 Mana spell available to cast with it, it can often be better to start casting 1 Mana spells first, in order to maximise your chances of hitting a 2 Mana spell to use with Preparation, maximising your Mana efficiency over the course of the turn.

This equation can be changed on the fly if you are playing towards one particular out, say if you are trying to exactly push for lethal, or trying to hit exactly Conceal to hide a huge board. Make sure you consider carefully how to get the most draws out of your Auctioneer turns, taking into account the percentages of each draw from your deck.

3.1.3. When to go all-in

More specifically than the decision of using a large number of resources on a Questing Adventurer or Edwin Van Cleef there will come points in games where you need to start to push all of your damage to the face and trust that you are going to draw damage. This deck is very fragile in that it can start to pick up some dead draws in the mid-game, causing you to lose control of the board. In these situations, it is important to recognise your outs early, and not wait a turn too long to be able to set yourself up a win condition.

If you start to feel the game slipping away from you, think about whether it is more likely that you draw tools that can get you back onto the board like SI:7 Agent, or Azure Drake plus removal, or whether you are better served trying to make an all-in play using something like Cold Blood and Conceal, to try and make a minion hit twice to set up lethal if you draw additional damage. This decision is a very difficult one to make and requires strong knowledge of the state of the game, the likely plays from your opponent and the exact percentages of draws in your deck. However, this kind of decision is what separates an average winrate from a good one with this deck.

3.2. Mulligans & Matchup Specific Strategies

Mulligan for Swashburglar and Southsea Deckhand in almost every matchup. The instant source of damage that you get from Patches the Pirate in this deck is a great starting point for pushing through damage on your opponent.

Outside of this, the cards that you keep depend heavily on matchup. Against the decks where you want to push the envelope early, keeping Questing Adventurer is fine, especially alongside The Coin. The same can be said for Edwin VanCleef alongside The Coin, Counterfeit Coin, and Preparation.

Against more resilient decks, you will want to look for the more consistent cards like SI:7 Agent and Tomb Pillager in your opening hand alongside the 1-drop Pirates.

3.3. Card Swaps

Swashburglar can be swapped out for Southsea Deckhand in order to make the deck even more aggressive, as well as give you more outs when you are trying to end a game.
