Lakkari Sacrifice Quest Warlock Deck List Guide

Table of Contents

Lakkari Sacrifice Warlock is often known as Quest Warlock, as there is currently only one Warlock Quest in the game. This deck revolves around the Quest card, Lakkari Sacrifice which was released in the Journey to Un'Goro expansion. The deck is a difficult one to build, and to play owing to the fact that to complete the Quest, you will have to give up six cards from your hand during the course of the game. This is a very big penalty to completing a Quest.

The way that the downside is best handled is to make the game go longer and use Lakkari Sacrifice as a win condition. That way, the discards can be more readily balanced by the use of Life Tap. There are also several cards that reduce the pain of discarding. Clutchmother Zavas outright stops a discard, while Malchezaar's Imp replaces the card. Silverware Golem helps to not only mitigate the discard, but also defend the board while the Quest is being completed.

There is a further issue with the deck, in that when the Quest is completed, it is not supremely powerful. Therefore the deck does need to survive for a while even after completion, while the minions created by Nether Portal run the enemy out of resources.

Below, you will find link to our deck lists for Lakkari Sacrifice Quest Warlock, starting with our featured deck, which we consider the most common variant.

Lakkari Sacrifice Cataclysm Combo Warlock Deck aims to complete the Quest on Turn 4 by using Cataclysm to discard your entire hand. The deck contains mechanisms to stay alive afterwards while using the huge value generated by Nether Portal to control the board and ultimately win the game. This version of the deck is significantly more powerful than previous iterations, but should still be regarded as a theme deck.

Lakkari Sacrifice Warlock Quest Deck aims to control the board while completing the Quest. During the Un'Goro expansion, this deck is not very competitive and is offered more as a theme deck than as a way to climb high on ladder. The deck promises to be more powerful with cards released in Knights of the Frozen Throne

1. Aim of the deck

The long-term goal of this deck is to use Lakkari Sacrifice to create Nether Portal, and then use the Imps generated by the Portal to run your opponent out of resources. For that to be fulfilled, the deck needs to defend long enough to not only complete the Quest, but also to be able to stay alive on the turns immediately after playing the Nether Portal. The army of Imps is formidable, but takes time to assemble.

In order to achieve this, the deck needs to be playing cards that help it to simultaneously complete the Quest, but also to survive. Lakkari Felhound is a prime example of one of these cards.

2. Strengths and Weaknesses

With so much Taunt and removal in the deck, this archetype can be strong against minion based aggression. If you can survive the first few turns, and use removal sparingly, Nether Portal becomes overwhelming in the late game.

The deck is very weak to decks that use many spells. Burn damage to the face is particularly devestating, but spells that easily remove Taunt minions are also problematic.

3. Key Cards and Crafting

There are two Legendary cards in the deck, Lakkari Sacrifice, and Clutchmother Zavas. The deck is built around the Lakkari Sacrifice, and as such it is irreplaceable. Clutchmother Zavas is a very strong card in the deck, as it helps to keep the hand size up. If you do not own this card, you should look to replace it with something that will occupy the board early. Succubus is a choice that fits with the theme of the deck, but any cheap Mana card will be fine.

The only Epic cards of note are Doomsayer. With any control build of the archetype, these are pretty much irreplaceable, but you could add Corrupting Mist or Hellfire if you wanted to try the archetype out.
