Budget Quest Rogue Deck

This version of the deck is a budget build. The guide will vary in some ways to the main build, as having no Legendary or Epic cards, particularly Preparation, Sonya Shadowdancer, and Zola the Gorgon will mean that the deck plays differently to the main version. Even as a budget deck though, this deck is still playable. If you can afford to add in one or two of the missing cards, then you will see a rapid power increase.

3. Strategy for Budget Quest Rogue

This deck aims to build a board of small minions, while simultaneously completing the The Caverns Below Quest. It aims to play Crystal Core as quickly as possible, which will turn all of the minions into 5/5s and allow an attack for a large amount of damage. After playing Crystal Core, the bounce spells in the deck turn their focus to the deck's cheap charge minions, which can attack for five damage each time they are played. Due to the nature of this being a budget deck, this is the only win condition in the deck, and so there are multiple ways to work towards completing the Quest as fast as possible.

4. Playing Five Minions of the Same Name

As there can only be a maximum of two of any single non-legendary minion in the deck, we have to generate our own ways to play minions of the same name if we are to complete the quest. This version of the deck uses three different methods to do this. Firstly, it plays ways to return cards back to your hand. Youthful Brewmaster, and Shadowstep are employed for this purpose. Secondly, it can create duplicates of minions with Mimic Pod. Finally, it can create Flame Elementals with Fire Fly and Igneous Elemental. The deck also uses cheap card draw to get to these cards quickly.

5. Budget Quest Rogue Gameplay

Playing this deck requires you to plan ahead to the turn where you will be playing your Crystal Core. You will aim to have a board of many minions ready to attack on the turn that you complete the Quest. The Flame Elemental tokens are very good for this as there are no Preparations in the deck. Two Loot Hoarders and Fan of Knives are included alongside Mimic Pod to speed up the process of finding the minions and bounce required to complete the Quest.

5.1. Charge Minions

Your Southsea Deckhand and Stonetusk Boar are often critical in winning the game after you play Crystal Core. This is because they give your bounce minions, which otherwise become very poor, an extra purpose after fulfilling their job of finishing the Quest. With a Charge minion in hand, each bounce minion or spell you draw after playing the Crystal Core will do an extra five damage.

5.2. Managing Bounce

While trying to complete the Quest as rapidly as possible, remember that you are also trying to build a board of minions. It is very important to protect the minion that is going to complete the Quest for you. When you have identified which minion it is likely to be, be sure to not leave it on the board for your opponent to kill. You will, of course, only need one of these minions, so if you are completing the Quest using Flame Elemental, it is often good play to keep one in your hand and play out all of the others. On the following turn, you can then play the fourth one alongside the Quest, and you have a ready-made board of 5/5s.

6. Budget Quest Rogue Mulligan

As this version of the deck has to take an all-in attitude, it is usually worth throwing away any spells and concentrating on getting a minion with which you can complete the Quest. Igneous Elemental is often a good keep, as is Fire Fly. Other than that, you are looking to find your bounce cards such as Shadowstep and Youthful Brewmaster. You can also keep card draw in your opening hand.

7. Updating Budget Quest Rogue

The four major cards that are missing from this deck are two copies of Preparation and one each of Sonya Shadowdancer and Zola the Gorgon. If you own any of these cards, you should first replace the Loot Hoarders in the deck. If you have more than two of those cards, you should check out the other builds of Quest Rogue to see which one you are closest to completing.
