Table of Contents

This deck utilises many powerful additions from the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion. Druid of the Swarm and Crypt Lord specifically provide a huge boost in strength as they are able to protect the other tokens on the board thanks to their high Health and Taunt effects, greatly adding strength to cards like Mark of the Lotus and Savage Roar.

Disclaimer: The success of this deck predates the balance patch that was applied on 18th September 2017 which may have an impact on the effectiveness of the deck.

3. Comments on the Variation

The most notable changes for this variant are the addition of Dire Wolf Alpha, Bittertide Hydra, and Crazed Alchemist. Dire Wolf Alpha is a very solid addition, as it can safely sit behind big Taunt minions like Druid of the Swarm and Crypt Lord while helping to compensate for their lack of Attack. Bittertide Hydra is a commonly seen tech card that comes down to personal preference. It takes away a bit of synergy from the deck, but it provides raw power and provides an alternate win condition for games where a strong board cannot be developed. Crazed Alchemist is the most unique addition, it is a card that can offer some value in almost any situation, it is especially good while Doomsayer is popular in the meta and can be used to turn the high Health of Druid of the Swarm of Crypt Lord into a huge burst of damage.

3.1. Pros and Cons

This variant lacks commonly used Deathrattle minions and is consequently slightly more vulnerable to board clears as a result. It is also slightly slower at flooding the board due to the lack of tokens spawning from Deathrattle effects. However, it is able to protect its minions very well and although it develops the board slightly slower, it is less likely to lose minions, which makes it able to develop a stronger board over time.
