Table of Contents

This variant of Jade Druid was played by Senfglas to Rank #1 Legend a few weeks after the nerfs to Innervate and Spreading Plague which occurred during the Knights of the Frozen Throne meta. The main change to the featured deck is the inclusion of Mark of the Lotus.

3. Comments On The Variation

After the balance changes to Innervate and Spreading Plague, players tried various builds of Jade Druid to see how much impact those changes had made. One of the most balanced builds is our Post Nerf Jade Druid deck. This build, which Senfglas reached Rank #1 Legend with, is strong in that particular matchup because of the second Mind Control Tech and the two Mark of the Lotus.

4. Strategy Changes

The deck plays out very much the same as the featured build, except you have to now manage the timing of Mark of the Lotus. The primary purpose of this card is to buff the Scarabs that come from Spreading Plague. 1/5 minions buy you a lot of time, but do not do a tremendous amount of damage to the minions they are defending against. With only one Mark played, they double that damage and become a serious problem.

Due to having two of them, Mind Control Tech will usually be played as soon as your opponent has four minions on board. Against Druid, you can also use the card to react to the opposing Spreading Plague. This means you can build a wide board against Druids with far less concern about them playing the Plague. This is the primary reason for the card's inclusion in this variant.

5. Pros and Cons

This variant is very good against other Jade Druid builds. The double Mind Control Tech gives a strong advantage in the mirror. It is also better against Midrange Tempo decks. The ability to build a wide board of 2/6, or even 3/7, Scarabs can often lead to winning games that the featured build might lose.

Against Control decks, this build is not as powerful. The Mark of the Lotus will still have some targets, but will rarely get value from a large Spreading Plague. On top of that, Mind Control Tech will usually have to function as a 3/3 for 3-Mana, which is not a good deal.

6. Quick Mulligan

You should generally mulligan for the following cards:
