General Information

On this page, you will find a list of changes between Normal/Heroic modes and Mythic mode, as well as a working strategy to defeat M.O.T.H.E.R. in Uldir in Mythic mode.

The other pages of our M.O.T.H.E.R. guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

1.

Mythic Mode Abilities

1.1.

Embodiments of Contamination

On Mythic difficulty, two new types of adds spawn when players pass through the Defense Grid Icon Defense Grid. The type of add spawned will depend on whether the player is a tank, healer, or DPS.

1.1.1.

Resistant Bacterium

When a tank passes through the Grid, they will spawn a Resistant Bacterium. These adds will cast Bacterial Outbreak Icon Bacterial Outbreak, dealing a small amount of Shadow damage to their target, as well as buffing the damage of the other Embodiments of Contamination by 10%. This effect stacks. Bacterial Outbreak cannot be interrupted, however the Resistant Bacterium can be stunned to break the cast.

1.1.2.

Viral Contagion

When a healer passes through the Grid, they will spawn a Viral Contagion. These adds will afflict a player with Endemic Virus Icon Endemic Virus, dealing moderate Shadow damage every second for 20 seconds. When removed, it will apply Spreading Epidemic Icon Spreading Epidemic to anyone within 10 yards, dealing moderate Shadow damage every second for 8 seconds. Both these debuffs are magic effects and can be dispelled.

1.1.3.

Remnant of Corruption

When a DPS passes through the Grid, they will spawn a Remnant of Corruption. These adds are exactly the same as on Heroic, but will only spawn from DPS players. They will still cast Clinging Corruption Icon Clinging Corruption and will need to be interrupted.

1.2.

Minor Ability Changes

1.2.1.

Uldir Defensive Beam

The Uldir Defensive Beam Icon Uldir Defensive Beams are functionally the same as on Heroic, except now instead of alternating between vertical and horizontal beams, both variants happen together. While they do happen at the same time, the horizontal beam will always pass over first.

1.2.2.

Wind Tunnel

The Wind Tunnel Icon Wind Tunnel is basically the same as Heroic, however the force with which it pushes you is now greater.

2.

Strategy

The general strategy of the encounter remains virtually identical to Heroic. The goal is to move your raid through the rooms as quickly as you can in order to avoid the Cleansing Purge Icon Cleansing Purge and reap the rewards of Depleted Energy Icon Depleted Energy. Everything will deal more damage, and the Wind Tunnel Icon Wind Tunnel is stronger, so positioning matters a lot more.

Adds are handled the same way as in Heroic: group them up as they spawn and keep them interrupted or stunned while your group AoEs them down. When healers pass through the Grid, the group needs to be ready for Bacterial Outbreak Icon Bacterial Outbreak. The player who receives this debuff needs to move out of the group before the healer can dispel them in order to prevent Spreading Epidemic Icon Spreading Epidemic from triggering. The first group across should consist of 1 Tank, 1 Healer, and 3 DPS. More DPS should be called over as long as your healers are able to keep up with the raid damage.

Once MOTHER is in the second room, just as in Heroic, the Uldir Defensive Beam Icon Uldir Defensive Beams will begin happening throughout the rest of the fight. On Mythic, both the horizontal and vertical beams will happen at the same time, however the horizontal beams will always pass by first. This is important to remember in case you find yourself wildly out of position. Making sure you will be safe from the horizontal beam before moving to the golden swirls of the vertical beam safe zone will maximize your chances at survival. Positioning can get extremely tight because MOTHER is still able cast Sanitizing Strike Icon Sanitizing Strike during the beams. Between the horizontal beams, the vertical beams, and the Sanitizing Strike, options for safe places to stand become very limited.

3.

Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp

We advise you to use Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust/Heroism Icon Heroism/Time Warp Icon Time Warp in the third room. The boss will take an additional 100% damage during this phase, dramatically increasing the Heroism/Bloodlust value.
