Retribution Paladin PvP Guide — 12.0.7

Patch 12.1 brings a slight rebalancing of the damage profile of Retribution Paladin. With nerfs to Avenging Wrath combined with a 25% nerf to the apex talent Light Within and a 6% overall class nerf Retribution has lost some burst in season 2. Offensive cooldowns were nerfed across the board for many classes including Retribution Paladins as power was shifted away from Divine Toll and Avenging Wrath and added to the core rotation.

We expect to see even more PvP tuning in the coming weeks as Patch 12.1 progresses. Below you can find the comprehensive list of changes for Retribution Paladin for the launch of Season 2.

Midnight is here and with it, a whole bunch of changes to Retribution Paladin. Midnight has aimed to reduce the amount of button bloat across most classes in the game, and Retribution Paladin is no different, but also hardly affected by it. To highlight, the new Apex Talent Light Within brings a lot of power back into our Art of War effect, reminiscent of the days Exorcism procs hit very hard.

Fundamentally, Retribution Paladin remains the same, with the removal of a few spells including Repentance and the combination of Blinding Light with Searing Glare and the merging of abilities like Divine Protection with Shield of Vengeance

Important Note

Midnight also introduces Apex talents, with Retribution Paladin getting Light Within, which is great as it gives more power during our burst windows with Avenging Wrath and stronger Art of War procs.
