Retribution Paladin PvP Guide — 12.0.7

Unfortunately there were no direct changes to Retribution Paladin in Patch 12.0.7. That being said, the new Omnium Folio system that is being added to the game does affect our performance a little, so make sure to check out the relevant information on the system on our Builds page!

Builds and Talents

On June 30th, Retribution received a modest -3% damage aura nerf in PvP combat. This does not affect our playstyle or talent selection in any way.

Season 1 Launch Tuning

After the season launch tuning Retribution received a few more changes after its PvP nerfs on certain spells went too far. Currently in PvP Retribution's top damaging ability was Hammer of Wrath paired with Divine Toll and Divine Exaction. The below changes significantly nerfed that damage combo but brought up Final Verdict to compensate - nerfing burst and buffing sustain.

Retribution PvP Buffs and Nerfs

• Final Verdict buffed by 25% in PvP Combat
• Vengeful Wrath nerfed from 50% damage increase on Hammer of Wrath to 20% increase on Hammer of Wrath
• Blessing of Spellwarding nerfed from 10 second duration to 6 second duration

Midnight is here and with it, a whole bunch of changes to Retribution Paladin. Midnight has aimed to reduce the amount of button bloat across most classes in the game, and Retribution Paladin is no different, but also hardly affected by it. To highlight, the new Apex Talent Light Within brings a lot of power back into our Art of War effect, reminiscent of the days Exorcism procs hit very hard.

Fundamentally, Retribution Paladin remains the same, with the removal of a few spells including Repentance and the combination of Blinding Light with Searing Glare and the merging of abilities like Divine Protection with Shield of Vengeance

Important Note

Midnight also introduces Apex talents, with Retribution Paladin getting Light Within, which is great as it gives more power during our burst windows with Avenging Wrath and stronger Art of War procs.
