This guide provides a to-do list for Midnight, covering the expansion launch and beyond. It is updated weekly with the latest daily and weekly goals to help you optimize your gameplay experience.
Introduction
With each new patch, it can be overwhelming to keep up with everything the game has to offer. To help you stay focused and get the most out of your gameplay time, we have put together a to-do list highlighting the key objectives you should prioritize.
To-Do Lists by Week
This Week in WoW: August 18
The following to-do list applies to the week of August 18, 2026:
Weekly Goals
- Midnight Season 2 begins this week!
- Ensure you have done the Amani questline beginning with A Call for Aid;
you will want the Coiled Isle open this week for the Lair boss and raid.
- The quest sending you to The Coiled Isle starts at Zul'jarra and is called What Lies Beyond the Fog.
- The Lair boss (an instanced World Boss), Nymrissa Wavecaller, is available this week on "World Difficulty," and you will definitely want the opportunity to kill her!
- It is preferable, but not required, to get the highest Mythic+ key you feel
comfortable completing (ideally a +10) before opening your Vault.
- You can obtain a key by speaking to Lindormi in Silvermoon City, next to the entrance to the Mythic+ portal room.
- You can also obtain a key by looting one out of a chest at the end of a Mythic or Mythic+ dungeon.
- Check your Great Vault; you will likely want to take a tier piece if you have one available.
- Wing 1 of LFR Venomous Abyss is open this week; it would be great to end the week with some tier bonuses!
- Nightmare Prey hunts are available this week.
- Delves are now open up to rank 11, and Bountiful Delves are also available.
- If you can, killing ?? difficulty Az'tarec, the Nemesis boss, will provide you with 60 uncapped Hero Crests and 30 uncapped Myth Crests. He may also drop a map for your Bountiful Delve.
- The new World Boss-style fight, Nymrissa Wavecaller, is open on Normal difficulty and up.
- Mythic+ is open! Farm your heart out on the highest keys you feel comfortable completing!
- If you will be going into Mythic Venomous Abyss, be sure you have upgraded any good 3/6 Hero pieces from Mythic+ before raid time.
- Patch 12.1 brings a number of huge gearing changes; brush up on these if you are
not familiar:
- LFR, Normal, and Heroic raid Great Vault items are now rewarded at the first step in the next harder difficulty's upgrade track. For example, any rewards in your Vault from Heroic raid will be 1/6 Myth.
- Catalyzed items will now retain the secondary stats and any cantrips they originated with.
- Bonus rolls are available at the Great Vault from the beginning of Season 2. The cost to roll for a raid item has been reduced to 1 bonus roll, down from 2.
- Pick up the Housing Weekly quest from Vaeli, outside the Silvermoon bank.
- Pick up your Weekly Spark quest from Lady Liadrin.
To Do in Midnight Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula'tek
The following to-do list applies specifically to the new activities released starting on the week of August 11, 2026 with Patch 12.1:
12.1-Specific To Do
- Open the Coiled Isle with the quest: What Lies Beyond the Fog.
- The questline starts with A Call for Aid, offered by Lady Liadrin at 46, 68 in Zul'Aman.
- Coiled Isle is the main quest and content hub for 12.1, and also houses both the raid, Venomous Abyss and the world boss, Nymrissa Wavecaller, so you will want to open it up asap!
- Nymrissa Wavecaller is available on "World Difficulty" this week, and Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties unlock next week. She is a flex encounter of 15-25 people. This is a valuable boss for gearing, and an experiment into a new kind of world boss.
- Visit your class guide to check any new changes to your class and spec, and to learn which Omnium Folio choices will be most impactful for you this season.
- Midnight Season 2 begins the week of August 18 with:
- a new 8-boss raid, Venomous Abyss;
- a new Mythic+ Season featuring 5 Midnight dungeons (including the brand new with 12.1 dungeon, Altar of Fangs) and 3 previous expansion dungeons);
- a new PvP Season;
- a new season of Delves, including 3 all-new instances and a new Nemesis boss;
- a new Prey season featuring venomous-themed enemies and new mechanics.
- The Cooldown Manager, Healer Frames, and Ping System have all seen some major updates with Patch 12.1.
Catching Up: To Do in Midnight Pre-12.1
The following to-do list combines any necessary catch up steps from Midnight Patch 12.0.5 and Patch 12.0.7. If you're a returning player, we recommend you complete these before jumping into the 12.1 content.
Catch Up To Do
- Complete the introduction to Void Incursions. Doing so will make weekly
Incursion quests available to you.
Void Assault: Eversong and
Void Assault: Zul'Aman
rotate weekly, but both will reward a
Ranger's Cache Pinnacle cache and are
worth doing if you can still use Veteran gear!
- "Void Strikes" are smaller, continuous attacks throughout Eversong Woods or Zul'Aman. These are easily doable solo or in small groups.
- "Void Incursions" are the larger invasions spurred on by your defeat of the various Void Strikes throughout the week. These are more difficult and will require more players to complete.
- Consider starting your Ritual Sites journey;
Field Accolades
can be used to purchase gear caches.
- If you enjoy the solo potential of Delves, you will likely enjoy Ritual Sites as well. You will not have your Delve companion, but Ritual Sites allow you to level through the tiers and choose your own challenges for even greater rewards.
- Unlock the borrowed power system, the Omnium Folio.
- The questline starts with The Magisters' Call, offered by the Magister's Missive at 48.3, 49.6 in Silvermoon City.
- Complete the introduction to Midnight Showdown Areas. These zones will
remain relevant in Midnight Season 2, particularly for catch up gear.
- The starter quests, Stalkers of the Stars and Veterans of the Great Dark are available from Riftblade Maella at 48.3, 49.6 in Silvermoon City.
- Showdown content drops
Field Accolades, which can now be used to
purchase Champion and Hero-level gear from Maren Silverwing in Silvermoon. - World bosses and rare mobs reward Champion-level gear; the Showdown
weekly quest rewards a
Riftstalker's Cache. - Heroic World Tier Showdown Zones (recommended ilvl 274+) drops Hero-level
gear, while new weeklies reward
Riftstalker's Overflowing Favor and the weekly
quest Knocking Off the Top rewards a Myth-level Cloak, Belt, or Bracers.
