On this page, you will find our Level by Level Arcane Mage leveling guide for Dragonflight. Make sure to use the slider to make the guide adapt to your level. For more general leveling information, please refer to our Mage leveling guide.

1.

Gear Options

When leveling up, you should always choose the piece of loot with the highest item level. The only exception to this rule is if you have a Ring or Necklace with a slightly lower item level, but 2 secondary stats on it instead of 1.

2.

Level by Level Rotation and Talents

Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!

Level: 60

Below, you can see the suggested levelling talent build and the order in which to pick the talents while levelling.

2.1.

Rotation to Level Up as an Arcane Mage

Starting at Level 1, you only have one main attack ability: Frostbolt Icon Frostbolt.

  1. Use Fire Blast Icon Fire Blast on cooldown.
  2. Use Presence of Mind Icon Presence of Mind when you have to move to allow you to cast Arcane Blast Icon Arcane Blast on the move.
  3. Cast Arcane Orb Icon Arcane Orb when you do not have 4 Arcane Charges.
  4. Cast Evocation Icon Evocation whenever it is ready to activate Siphon Storm Icon Siphon Storm. Use this shortly before activating Touch of the Magi Icon Touch of the Magi and Arcane Surge Icon Arcane Surge.
  5. Cast Radiant Spark Icon Radiant Spark whenever it is ready and you have 4 Arcane Charges.
  6. If Touch of the Magi Icon Touch of the Magi is ready and you have 4 Arcane Charges, Cast Arcane Barrage Icon Arcane Barrage, immediately followed by Touch of the Magi. Ensure you cast Touch of the Magi before Arcane Barrage lands.
  7. Cast Arcane Surge Icon Arcane Surge whenever it is ready and you have 4 Arcane Charges and the target is affected by Touch of the Magi Icon Touch of the Magi.
  8. Cast Arcane Surge Icon Arcane Surge whenever it is ready and you have 4 Arcane Charges.
  9. Use Arcane Missiles Icon Arcane Missiles when you get Clearcasting Icon Clearcasting.
  10. Cast Evocation Icon Evocation when you are out of mana.
  11. Cast Arcane Barrage Icon Arcane Barrage to finish off a target, or when running low on mana. Only cast it when you have 4 Arcane Charges.
  12. Cast Arcane Barrage Icon Arcane Barrage whenever you have 4 Arcane Charges, and there are 3+ targets to hit with it. Additionally, whenever you are close to running out of Mana, cast Arcane Barrage. Only cast it with 4 Arcane Charges.
  13. Cast Arcane Explosion Icon Arcane Explosion when there are 3 or more targets.
  14. Cast Arcane Blast Icon Arcane Blast as your filler on single target.
2.2.

Arcane Mage War Mode Talents for Leveling

In this section we will rank the PvP talents best for leveling and doing solo / small group PvE content.

  1. Arcane Empowerment Icon Arcane Empowerment is a direct damage increase to Arcane Missiles Icon Arcane Missiles during Clearcasting Icon Clearcasting, directly increasing your DPS. Only pick this if you often pull a single target.
  2. Temporal Shield Icon Temporal Shield is arguably the best defensive tool in the game, as it is off the global cooldown, and has a relatively short cooldown, allowing you to avoid damage against most enemies you face.
  3. Master of Escape Icon Master of Escape and Mass Invisibility Icon Mass Invisibility are both spells that you can pick to help you skip more mobs when going through crowded areas.
