You want to use PvP items as much as possible since they have increased item level in PvP combat. It is essential to be wearing 2 PvP trinkets. This will give you a Stamina and stat boost that will increase your survivability.
FAQWhich Tier Pieces Are Best To Catalyze?
With the new Catalyst system in 12.1, you will want to ensure to Catalyze pieces that have Versatility on them, and ideally Haste, but Mastery is fine as well. The recommended items are as follow:

FAQWhen is enough Haste?
More is better. There is no hard cap on the amount of Haste you should be having, but around the 25% mark is a nice safeground to be standing on. Because Mastery and Haste perform close to identical, you can choose to opt in for more Mastery or keep increasing your Haste.
FAQWhat if I accidentally Catalyzed the wrong item or bought a piece with the wrong stat?
You simply stick with that item. Having one or two unoptimized pieces will affect you only as a minor inconvenience. You can eventually correct your mistake later in the season, you will not feel it drag you down.

Protection Warrior Tier Sets
As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed to 50% effectiveness in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances to win. For Protection Warriors, this is your tier set:
- 2-set: Your free Revenges deal 15% additional damage and cause your next Shield Slam to deal 20% additional damage.
- 4-set: Ravager and your free Revenges cause all targets to bleed for (304% Attack Power) damage over 12 sec. Ravager's cooldown is reduced by 30 sec.
In general, it is recommended to get both 2-set and 4-set for Protection Warriors
Protection Warrior Embellishments
Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These effects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have two Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Protection Warrior:
Arcanoweave Lining is the best embellishment for Protection
Warriors. This gives your spells and abilities a chance to empower
an ally, increasing you and your teammate's primary stat. This is great for
increasing your overall damage output.
