Choosing your gear carefully is essential for your Devastation Evoker in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the correct stats, followed by advice on how to select the rest of your gear and your trinkets.

This page is part of our Devastation Evoker PvP Guide.

1.

Stat Priority for Devastation Evokers in PvP

The stat priority for Devastation Evokers in PvP is as follows:

  1. Intellect;
  2. Versatility;
  3. Mastery;
  4. Haste;
  5. Critical Strike.

Intellect is the best stat in all situations. Versatility is the most important secondary stat as it increases the damage/healing you do and reduces the damage you take. Mastery (Mastery: Giantkiller Icon Mastery: Giantkiller) is the next best stat, as it will help increase your overall damage output and make it difficult for teams to recover.

Gear Recommendations

2.1.

General Guidelines

In general, Devastation Evokers want to get trinkets that increase their overall damage output. These trinkets can have a passive or on-use effect. The stat you want to be increasing is Versatility. The reason you want to increase Versatility is because it increases both your damage and healing and reduces the damage you take. For gear, you want anything that has Versatility and Mastery on it. This will increase your overall damage output and your survivability. Here is the best equipment we recommend you use as a Devastation Evoker.

  • Head: Spellweaver's Immaculate Focus Icon Spellweaver's Immaculate Focus
  • Neck: Algari Competitor's Amulet Icon Algari Competitor's Amulet - Crafted with Versatility & Mastery
  • Shoulders: Spellweaver's Immaculate Pauldrons Icon Spellweaver's Immaculate Pauldrons

Devastation Evoker Tier Sets

As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed to 33% effectiveness in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances of winning. In Patch 11.2, there are different tier sets for each different hero talent for each specialization. Below are the different tier sets for Devastation Evoker.

3.1.

Flameshaper Tier Set

  • 2-set: Engulf Icon Engulf stokes your Inner Flame Icon Inner Flame, increasing your damage and healing over time by 15% and increasing your chance to gain Essence Burst Icon Essence Burst by 50% for 12 sec. Stacks up to 2 times. Multiple applications may overlap.
  • 4-set: Consuming Essence Burst Icon Essence Burst during Inner Flame Icon Inner Flame fires an Essence Bomb Icon Essence Bomb at your target, damaging nearby enemies.
3.2.

Scalecommander Tier Set

  • 2-set: While flying during Deep Breath Icon Deep Breath and for 10 seconds after, you command a squadron of 2 Dracthyr who will attack your targets with Disintegrate Icon Disintegrate and Pyre Icon Pyre.
  • 4-set: While your squadron is active, your Mass Disintegrate Icon Mass Disintegrate strikes up to 2 additional targets. In addition, your squadron assists you for 5 additional seconds.

Although both tier sets are strong, the Scalecommander tier set gives more sustained and burst damage, giving your team a longer window to land a kill. This is the tier set that is recommended to use in arena.

3.3.

Devastation Evoker Embellishments

Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These effects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have two Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Devastation Evokers:

  • Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens. This Embellishment causes your damaging spells and abilities to have a chance to deal damage to your target based upon your socketed gems. This is a flat increase to your overall damage output.
  • Ascendance Icon Ascendance/Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding. While in combat, Ascendance Icon Ascendance grants 89 of a random secondary stat, stacking up to 10 times. Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding doubles this affect. Overall, this is a good embellishment, but not the best.
3.4.

Gems and Enchants

Here are the best enchants for a Preservation Evoker:

  • Cloak: Enchant Cloak - Chant of Burrowing Rapidity Icon Enchant Cloak - Chant of Burrowing Rapidity
  • Chest: Enchant Chest - Crystalline Radiance Icon Enchant Chest - Crystalline Radiance

  • Weapon: Enchant Weapon - Authority of Radiant Power Icon Enchant Weapon - Authority of Radiant Power

Versatile Onyx Icon Versatile Onyx is the best gem you can use. You also get access to 1 Meta Gem. You should use Cognitive Bloodstone Icon Cognitive Bloodstone for the meta slot.
