1.

What is new in Leatherworking for Dragonflight Season 2

An important addition to Leatherworking is the new Pattern: Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards Icon Pattern: Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards recipe, which can be obtained from Ponzo in the new Zaralek Cavern zone. The new Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch Icon Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch is also used by multiple DPS specializations as one of the strongest embellishments available in Season 2.

As shown in the image, Pattern: Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards Icon Pattern: Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards can be guaranteed maximum quality, even at 447 maximum item level, by using Illustrious Insight Icon Illustrious Insight and maximum quality materials, as long as your Leatherworking skill and talents with Mail Wrist gear is maxed! This is extremely useful as recrafts on this particular item use both Dracothyst Icon Dracothyst and Obsidian Cobraskin Icon Obsidian Cobraskin, making it one of the most expensive items in the game to recraft for a 447 Inspiration proc.

Leatherworking in Dragonflight

Dragonflight introduces Crafting Specializations, which you are able to unlock once your profession skill hits 25. These serve as a profession talent tree system fueled by Leatherworking Knowledge, obtained from weekly quests, one-time treasures in the Dragon Isles, Draconic Treatises, and first-time crafts.

While you will eventually be able to unlock all talents, doing so will require a long time as the sources of knowledge are very limited, especially once one-time treasures and first-crafts are exhausted.

Best Leatherworking Specializations and Talents in Dragonflight

Leatherworking Specializations UI

Leatherworking Specializations are divided into four disciplines, each with a varying number of sub-specializations within which can be unlocked as you put points into their pre-requisite disciplines, akin to talent trees.

The best specialization for you depends on what your goals are: are you looking to make the best leather or mail armor, profession gear, leg enchants, mass producing Leatherworking base materials efficiently, or creating Bows and Drums? Each tree has its own unique perks which can help you reach these goals.

7.1.

Best Leatherworking Discipline Talents

Leatherworking Discipline is all about reducing the amount of resources you need through Resourcefulness, empowering other crafts through added Inspiration and improving your general crafting abilities, especially for drums, leg enchants, profession gear and reagents.

We would recommend you to pick the Inspiration talents of the tree first and foremost to enable early maximum quality crafting, followed by investment into whatever type of items you want to specialize into producing.

7.2.

Best Leather Armor Crafting Talents

The Leather Armor tree is responsible for Leather armor crafting. There are two main branches: Shaped Leather Armor which focus on chests, helms, shoulders, and wrists, and Embroidered Leather Armor which focuses on legs, gloves, belts, and boots.

7.3.

Best Mail Armor Talents

The Mail Armor tree is responsible for Mail armor crafting. There are two main branches: Large Mail which focus on chests, helms, shoulders, and wrists, and Intricate Mail which focuses on legs, gloves, belts, and boots.

7.4.

Best Primordial Leatherworking Talents
