General Information

On this page, we list all the abilities from the Aggramar encounter in Antorus, the Burning Throne. The idea is to give you a solid understanding of the encounter before you read the strategy.

If you are already familiar with the encounter, then you can skip to the strategy and tactics page or access any other page of the guide by using the table of contents on the right.

1.

Overview

Aggramar is a three-phase encounter with two intermission phases punctuating the fight. It features a variety of mechanics, some of which are recurring throughout the fight and become enhanced and empowered in the later phases.

2.

Phase One: Wrath of Aggramar

Phase One lasts until Aggramar reaches 80% health.

2.1.

Taeshalach's Reach

Taeshalach's Reach Icon Taeshalach's Reach is Aggramar's passive aura.

All of Aggramar's melee attacks strike the next closest target (within a certain radius, the exact size of which we are unsure) in addition to his current target. If no secondary target can be found, the main target is instead struck twice.

Each of Aggramar's melee attacks apply a debuff to the primary target that increases Physical damage taken by the main target by 5% per stack, lasting 12 seconds.

2.2.

Scorching Blaze

Scorching Blaze Icon Scorching Blaze is applied to several random targets periodically, causing them to pulse moderate Fire damage to anyone within 4 yards every 0.5 seconds for 1.5 seconds.

2.3.

Wake of Flame

Wake of Flame Icon Wake of Flame spawns five points of flame at Aggramar's feet, which cascade outwards in a cone after a second. There are spaces between each of the wakes of flame. Getting hit by a wake causes heavy Fire damage and additional ticking damage every 2 seconds for 12 seconds.

2.4.

Taeshalach Technique

Each time Aggramar reaches 100 Energy, he will unleash his Taeshalach Technique Icon Taeshalach Technique, which consists of 2 parts.

2.4.1.

Foe Breaker

Foe Breaker Icon Foe Breaker inflicts massive Fire damage in a large cone and increases the damage of successive Foe Breakers by 500% for 30 seconds.

2.4.2.

Flame Rend

Flame Rend Icon Flame Rend inflicts massive Fire damage in a large cone, split evenly between all targets hit. Flame Rend also knocks all targets back, with the force of the knock reduced based on the number of targets hit. If there are too few targets hit, Aggramar gains a stack of Burning Rage Icon Burning Rage, which increases his damage done by 50% per stack for the remainder of the encounter.

2.4.3.

Searing Tempest

Searing Tempest Icon Searing Tempest forms a large circle with Aggramar at the center. The radius of the circle is about 25 yards. Any players caught within the blast radius when the cast ends suffer heavy Fire damage and are disoriented for 5 seconds.

3.

Intermission One: Fires of Taeshalach

Intermission One begins when Aggramar reaches 80% health, and ends when both Flames of Taeshalach (which spawn during this phase) have been defeated.

3.1.

Corrupt Aegis

Aggramar is shielded for the duration of the phase by his Corrupt Aegis Icon Corrupt Aegis, making him entirely immune to damage. Coming into contact with the shield inflicts moderate Fire damage and knocks the target away.

3.2.

Meteor Swarm

Meteor Swarm Icon Meteor Swarm is cast periodically, inflicting moderate Fire damage at a player's location to anyone caught within the area.

3.3.

Flames of Taeshalach

Aggramar spawns 2 Flames of Taeshalach every intermission phase. They spawn near the center of the platform, with one appearing on either side of Aggramar.

3.3.1.

Catalyzing Presence

Catalyzing Presence Icon Catalyzing Presence is a permanent aura. Embers of Taeshalach within 15 yards of the Flames of Taeshalach have their movement speed increased by 100%. Additionally, they become immune to all forms of crowd control. Catalyzed enemies have their damage increased by 50% while within the aura.

3.3.2.

Unchecked Flame

Unchecked Flame Icon Unchecked Flame inflicts raid wide Fire damage every 3 seconds, increasing every time with each tick interval.

3.4.

Embers of Taeshalach

The number of Embers of Taeshalach varies with difficulty and group size. They spawn at the extreme edges of the platform and slowly move towards the center, where Aggramar is inactive.

3.4.1.

Wrought in Flame

Wrought in Flame Icon Wrought in Flame is a passive aura, allowing the Embers to build 100 Energy over 180 seconds (on Normal and Heroic). Upon reaching 100 Energy, the Embers trigger a Blazing Eruption Icon Blazing Eruption.

3.4.2.

Blazing Eruption

Blazing Eruption Icon Blazing Eruption deals moderate raid-wide Fire damage and applies a ticking effect that deals additional Fire damage every second for 15 seconds. Additionally, any damage taken from subsequent Blazing Eruptions is increased by 100% during this time (per stack).

3.4.3.

Molten Remnants (Heroic+ only)

Molten Remnants Icon Molten Remnants are left behind when a Ember of Taeshalach is slain. Anyone standing within the fiery remnants takes moderate ticking damage every 1.5 seconds until they exit the residue. Molten Remnants reform into an Ember of Taeshalach after 18 seconds.

4.

Phase Two: Champion of Sargeras

The fight against Aggramar resumes after both Flames of Taeshalach have been defeated. Aggramar re-enters the fight at 80% health.

4.1.

Returning Abilities

Taeshalach Technique Icon Taeshalach Technique, Taeshalach's Reach Icon Taeshalach's Reach, and Scorching Blaze Icon Scorching Blaze are all present in Phase Two and function identically to Phase One.

4.2.

Flare

Aggramar marks 3 locations with Flare Icon Flare, each with a 12-yard radius. After 4 seconds, each of these locations explodes and inflicts heavy Fire damage to anyone caught within.

5.

Intermission Two: Taeshalach's Rage

Intermission Two begins when Aggramar reaches 40% health, and ends when both Flames of Taeshalach (which spawn during this phase) have been defeated.

5.1.

Returning Abilities

Corrupt Aegis Icon Corrupt Aegis, Meteor Swarm Icon Meteor Swarm, Flame of Taeshalach, and the Embers of Taeshalach are all present in Intermission Two and function identically to Intermission One.

Wake of Flame Icon Wake of Flame returns from Phase One, however it occurs more frequently in this phase.

6.

Phase Three: The Avenger

The fight against Aggramar resumes after both Flames of Taeshalach have been defeated. Aggramar re-enters the fight at 40% health.

6.1.

Returning Abilities

Taeshalach Technique Icon Taeshalach Technique, Taeshalach's Reach Icon Taeshalach's Reach, and Scorching Blaze Icon Scorching Blaze are all present in Phase Three and function identically to Phases One and Two.

6.2.

Empowered Flare

Empowered Flare Icon Empowered Flare begins the same way as Flare Icon Flare from Phase Two; Aggramar marks 3 locations, each with a 12-yard radius, and after 4 seconds they detonate. In Phase Three, where the Flares are empowered, however, several Wake of Flame Icon Wakes of Flame also spawn and radiate outwards when the Flares detonate. The wakes function mechanically the same as in other phases, however their source point is now the flare rather than Aggramar and therefore the patterns and directional path of the wakes is different.
