Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Assassination Rogue in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats, followed by advice on how to choose your gear and your trinkets.

This page is part of our Assassination Rogue PvP Guide.

1.

Stat Priority for Assassination Rogues in PvP

The stat priority for Assassination Rogues in PvP is as follows:

  1. Agility
  2. Versatility
  3. Mastery
  4. Critical Strike
  5. Haste

Agility is the best stat in all situations. Versatility is the most vital secondary stat because it increases your damage and reduces the damage you take.

Mastery is the second-best stat. It is a flat damage increase to Bleeds and Poisons. Mastery is the highest damage increase per stat point you can have. However, it still comes behind Versatility because Versatility also helps you survive. Critical Strike increases your damage and your Combo Point generation through the passive Seal Fate Icon Seal Fate.

Haste increases the tick rate of your bleeds, giving you more damage but also more Energy through the passive Venomous Wounds Icon Venomous Wounds. However, since the current gameplay of Assassination revolves around bleeding as many targets as possible, energy should never be an issue, so Haste is the least desirable stat.

Assassination Rogue Tier Sets

As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed to 33% effectiveness in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances to win. For Assassination Rogues, this is your tier set:

  • 2-set: Garrote Icon Garrote's damage is increased by 30% and it also applies your weapon poisons.
  • 4-set: Garrote Icon Garrote's Energy cost is reduced by 10. Mutilate Icon Mutilate, Ambush Icon Ambush, and Fan of Knives Icon Fan of Knives deal 25% increased damage to targets affected by your weapon poisons.

Assassination Rogue Embellishments

Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These effects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have two Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Assassination Rogue:

  • Prismatic Focusing Iris Icon Prismatic Focusing Iris. This Embellishment causes your damaging spells and abilities to have a chance to deal damage to your target. This is a flat increase to your overall damage output. Craft this on both rings or your neck.
