Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Beast Mastery Hunter in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats as well as guidance on how to pick up your Azerite pieces, followed by advice on how to choose the rest of your gear and your trinkets.

This page is part of our Beast Mastery Hunter PvP Guide.

1.

Stat Priority for Beast Mastery Hunters in PvP

The stat priority for Beast Mastery Hunters in PvP is as follows:

  1. Agility;
  2. Mastery;
  3. Haste;
  4. Versatility;
  5. Critical Strike.

Agility is the best stat in all situations. Increasing your Mastery: Master of Beasts Icon Mastery: Master of Beasts increases the damage by your pets, which results in an increase to your burst and sustained damage. You should focus on getting gear with Haste as well. This is great for increasing your overall damage output.

Corruption Gear for Beast Mastery Hunters in PvP

Gear has a chance to get a Corruption@ effect on them. This Corruption can have 2 different affects: dealing damage or increasing one of your stats. The more Corruption you have, the more damage you will take from the Corruption effects. It is recommended to not have more than 40 Corruption at once or you will take too much damage and die quickly.

For a general guide on Corruptions, check out our guide.

2.1.

Damage-Dealing Corruptions

Corruptions that deal damage proc from your damaging abilities. Although you do not have a choice on when they proc, most of them proc often and can make up a large amount of your overall damage. Below are the best Corruptions to have that will deal damage from using your abilities.

  1. Infinite Stars Icon Infinite Stars — Although the debuff is dispellable, it procs very often and can drastically increase your cleave damage.
  2. Echoing Void Icon Echoing Void — This gives your abilities a chance to give you a buff that stacks. It will then have a chance to get rid of stacks of this buff and will deal damage to all enemies in front of you. Note that this will only deal damage to enemies in melee range.
  3. Gushing Wound Icon Gushing Wound — Places a very large DoT on the enemy that cannot be dispelled. Perfect for increasing your overall damage output.
  4. Twisted Appendage Icon Twisted Appendage — gives your abilities a chance to summon a tendril that will deal damage and slow the enemy. This tendril can be killed, but you can spawn multiple on one target and will do incredible amounts of damage if they are not killed quickly.
2.2.

Stat-Increasing Corruptions

Corruptions that increase Stats are also extremely powerful. These Corruptions also have two different variations. The first is a proc chance to gain a stat. This is just like any other proc, where you will randomly get a buff that greatly increases one of your stats. The second, is you receive a certain stat from any source. This means you can gain that stat from anything from gear to traits. These stat increases are much more powerful to have. Below are the best Corruptions that increase your stats.

  1. Masterful Icon Masterful — Because Mastery is your best stat, this is by far the best stat increase corruption to have. Quick note: this is not a proc, but this is just a flat increase to your mastery.
  2. Honed Mind Icon Honed Mind — Similar to the Masterful Icon Masterful corruption, Honed Mind also increases your Mastery. However, this is a proc, so you will not have control over when you get this Mastery increase. With that said, it is still one of the best Corruptions you can get.
  3. Expedient Icon Expedient — Because Haste is your next best stat, this is by far the next stat increase corruption to have. Quick note: this is not a proc, but this is just a flat increase to your Haste.
  4. Racing Pulse Icon Racing Pulse — Similar to the Expedient corruption, Racing Pulse also increases your Haste. However, this is a proc, so you will not have control over when you get this Haste increase. With that said, it is still one of the best Corruptions you can get.

Gear Recommendations

3.1.

General Guidelines

In general, Beast Mastery Hunters want to get trinkets that line up well with Bestial Wrath Icon Bestial Wrath and Aspect of the Wild Icon Aspect of the Wild. These trinkets can have a passive or on-use effect. The stats you want to be increasing are either Agility or Mastery. The Agility will provide a very large increase to your damage and Mastery will increase the damage dealt by your pets.

To be successful in 3v3 arena, you need to have at least 2 pieces of gear with the Primal Instincts Icon Primal Instincts trait and the third piece can have any of the traits listed above. You will also want either Overwhelming Power Icon Overwhelming Power or Heed My Call Icon Heed My Call in the second tier.

Below, we list the items that have these traits.

3.1.1.

Helms

3.1.2.

Shoulders

3.1.3.

Chest

3.2.

Corrupted Gladiator's Maledict Icon Corrupted Gladiator's Maledict is a great trinket to have. The on-use damage and healing absorption is capable of forcing defensives, especially when coordinated with your other teammates Maledicts. This can be used by itself or while you are using your burst rotation to force multiple cooldowns out of enemy teams. If you use this trinket, make sure your other teammates are using it as well. Otherwise, the enemy healer can just dispel the debuff and it will force cooldowns.

Corrupted Gladiator's Medallion Icon Corrupted Gladiator's Medallion is good because of the Agility and the on-use Versatility effect. This increases your overall damage and lines up well with your burst cooldowns.

Corrupted Gladiator's Insignia Icon Corrupted Gladiator's Insignia provides a passive boost to your Versatility. This will increase your survivability versus teams that focus you. It also has a passive proc effect that will increase your Agility. This is a solid choice if you just want to increase your sustained damage and want to survive while in a stun.

3.3.

Weapon Enchant

Enchant Weapon - Quick Navigation Icon Enchant Weapon - Quick Navigation is the best weapon enchant. The Haste proc that you get from this enchant is great for increasing you and your pets sustained damage. This enchant provides the largest boost to your overall damage output.
