Elemental Shaman PvP Stat Priority, Gear, and Trinkets — 12.1

Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Elemental Shaman in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats, followed by advice on how to choose the rest of your gear and your trinkets.

Stat Priority for Elemental Shamans in PvP

The stat priority for Elemental Shamans in PvP is as follows:

Item Level
Versatility
Haste
Mastery
Critical Strike

Versatility is the best stat due to the increased survivability and overall damage.

Haste, is important for Flame Shock Icon Flame Shock damage over time, and Lava Surge Icon Lava Surge procs, as well as faster global cooldowns.

Mastery, you want to maximize after reaching a baseline of Haste while in PvP gear in Arena/Battleground. This is important for benefiting from the Elemental Shaman Mastery benefit.

PvP BIS List

You want to use PvP items specifically since they have increased item level in PvP combat. It is essential to be wearing 2 PvP trinkets. This will give you a Stamina and primary stat boost from Gladiator's Distinction (primary stat +15%, Stamina +5% for damage dealers) that will increase your survivability.

FAQWhich Tier Pieces Are Best To Catalyze?

With the new Catalyst system in 12.1, you will want to ensure to Catalyze pieces that have Versatility on them, and ideally Haste as well. The recommended items are as follow:

Note: It is essential that you wear two PvP trinkets. This will give you a Stamina and primary stat boost from Gladiator's Distinction (primary stat +15%, Stamina +5% for damage dealers) that will in turn increase your survivability.

Elemental Shaman Tier Sets

As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed effectiveness in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances to win. For Elemental Shamans, this is your tier set:

  • 2-set: Earth Shock Icon Earth Shock, Earthquake Icon Earthquake, Elemental Blast Icon Elemental Blast damage increased by 25%.
  • 4-set: When Stormkeeper Icon Stormkeeper or Ascendance Icon Ascendance fade, your next 2 Lightning Bolt Icon Lightning Bolts or Chain Lightning Icon Chain Lightnings or Lava Burst Icon Lava Burst deal 25% increased damage and cause your next Earthquake Icon Earthquake, Earth Shock Icon Earth Shock, or Elemental Blast Icon Elemental Blast to cost 100% less Maelstrom.

Elemental Shaman Embellishments

Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These effects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have two Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Elemental Shaman:

  • Arcanoweave Lining Icon Arcanoweave Lining is the best embellishment for Elemental Shamans. This gives your spells and abilities a chance to empower an ally, increasing you and your teammate's primary stat. This is great for increasing your overall damage output.
